Who liberated the camp?

His visit came before the 80th anniversary of the camp's liberation on Jan. 27, 1945.

The 322nd Rifle Division arrived on above date.

The Red Army liberated the first camp, but it was focusing on its advance toward Germany, and liberating the camp was not one of its key aims. The Soviet Union was a war ally, but today, Russia is not.

wallace,

What is the meaning of this phrase? Who then continued to liberate?

What is the source of your information?

The Soviet Union was a war ally, but today, Russia is not.

And what? It means that the honor of liberation should be attributed to those who were not there? Or what?

King Charles will Visit Auschwitz on the 80th Anniversary of the Liberation. Of course he is the most honorable visitor. The soil may open up under his feet. He deserves it most of all...

*From 1940-45, around 1.1 million people, mostly Jews, but also* Poles, Roma and Sinti, Russian prisoners of war and others.

Senseless victims. The Nazi offenders and their collaborators shall live in shame - forever.

wallace,

I have not seen a single historical photograph of the lconcentration camp prisoners with British liberators. But I've seen a lot of photos with Soviet soldiers. And this is despite the fact that your, Western, photographic equipment at that time was superior to the Soviet one in both quality and quantity of gadgets. Tell me, wallace, where can I see pictures of British people with Auschwitz prisoners?

The Shocking Liberation of Auschwitz: Soviets ‘Knew Nothing’ as They Approached

While some had been driven from the camp, thousands of emaciated prisoners had been left behind to die.

Meanwhile, the Soviets were progressing toward Oświęcim—but they had no idea the camp existed. Liberating Auschwitz was not in their orders, but when a group of scouts stumbled into Birkenau on January 27, 1945, they knew they had found something terrible.

What those soldiers, during a tough winter campaign, came upon, boggles the mind. Their own were victims of that Nazi slaughterhouse. A total shocker.

For once, I agree with Starmer. Sadly, though, his policies are actually boosting anti-Semitism.

wallace,

It's close to the truth. But the careless naming of the Red Army the Soviets casts doubt on the veracity of your article. Then who liberated the rest of 18 camps of The Auschwitz? Evidently there were Polish soldiers. In this place, Polish units were under Soviet command. But there was no American or British foot here. Tell me, why did the Polish authorities invite the British king, whose family had stained themselves with nazi saluting photographs and Nazi relatives, but the descendants of the real liberators were not invited? Do you think that's fair? I wonder the fighters of Azov are among the invites?

You didn't answered about fotos. Or you can just say: no, my country was not there

Shameful that Russia and the Nazis collaborated to carve up Poland leading to millions of holocaust victims including Jews, Poles, Roma and countless others.

“Time and again we condemn this hatred, and we boldly say ‘never again.'

I hope Starmer will also visit Gaza and see the sheer horror that is taking place there now, with his help.

Auschwitz teaches us fascist expansionism must be resisted.

Shameful that Russia and the Nazis collaborated to carve up Poland leading to millions of holocaust victims including Jews, Poles, Roma and countless others.

Here is an excerpt from a speech in the House of Commons on February 27-28, 1945. Winston Churchill:

If it weren't for the tremendous efforts and sacrifices on the part of Russia, Poland would be doomed to complete destruction at the hands

of the Germans. Not only Poland as a state and nation, but the Poles

as a people were condemned by Hitler to extermination or enslavement.

Who are you, asdfgtr? And who is Churchill?

To the point:

More than 477,000 Soviet soldiers died during the liberation of Poland in 1944-1945,

Poland was liberated from German occupation in 1944–1945 by the Red Army, but the Soviet Union's actions left Poland under Soviet control.

The Soviet Union annexed all of Poland and most of eastern Germany at the end of the war.

The Holocaust took place in the context of the Second World War, which was started by the invasion of Poland by Nazi Germany and their collaborator Russia in September 1939.

Under the Nazi Germany-Russia pact, Poland was to be shared, while Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland and Bessarabia went to Russia.

So what the hell, you're giving the the rostrum of the UN Security Council to the Azov fighters! You are supporting the spreading the ideas of fascism with their mouths.

They call themselves Nazis!

Poland remained under Soviet control until 1989. 45 years after liberating it from the Germans.

The Soviet invasion of Poland was a military conflict by the Soviet Union without a formal declaration of war. On 17 September 1939, the Soviet Union invaded Poland from the east, 16 days after Nazi Germany invaded Poland from the west

Russia's campaign of mass persecution in the newly acquired areas began immediately.

In November 1939 the Soviet government annexed the entire Polish territory under its control. Some 13.5 million Polish citizens who fell under the military occupation were made Soviet subjects following show elections conducted by the NKVD secret police in an atmosphere of terror.

A Soviet campaign of political murders and other forms of repression, targeting Polish figures of authority such as military officers, police, and priests, began with a wave of arrests and summary executions. The Soviet NKVD sent hundreds of thousands of people from eastern Poland to Siberia and other remote parts of the Russia in four major waves of deportation between 1939 and 1941.

Liberating? They took it from the Germans.

Stalin and Putin both used similar attempts to justify fascist expansionism:

Stalin, stating concern for ethnic Ukrainians and Belarusians in Poland, collaborated with Hitler and ordered the Soviet invasion of Poland.

Not the most of eastern Germany! Buy historic maps!

Europe was divided into zones of influence, if you didn't know. Who are you to judge the winners?

Putin now seeks to remake the former Soviet Union. Ukraine. Poland. Baltic States. Finland. Georgia.

The articleis about Auschwitz..

And you've sunk back into your genetic Russophobia. All your knowledge is Wikipedia, which was specially created for the illiterate population of the world to keep them in distorted information slavery. I'm getting convinced for the thousandth time how much Putin is right!

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Putin has never visited Auschwitz.

Putin has never visited Auschwitz.

wallace,

You've got the punctuation marks mixed up. You should have put a question mark, not a dot. Putin visited be Auschwitz in at least 2005. Does wiki keep silence?

0 ( +3 / -3 )

Yes, Putin visited Auschwitz in 2005.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

So his visit to a site that gave rise to a movement to never again turn a blind eye to genocide inspired him to crack down ob those who refuse to turn a blind eye to genocide.

PS, it was only after the US had spent decades rewriting the story about WW2 to turn the main player in the defeat of the Short Austrian into a bit player who came close to joining on his side, and a bit player who cane close to joining on his side into the main player in his defeat before the genocide he committed became the focus of the story about WW2. How much time will it spend rewriting the story about the war between Palestine and the Jewish State In Palestine terrorist organization before the genocide the JSIP is continuing to commit becomes the focus of the story of that war?

Is Starmers visit to Auschwitz, not another in a long line of moral relativism?

The middle east war a point in question.

World leaders, politicians whether alleged despots or guardians of truth, justice, humans rights tread the path to Auschwitz, to compete for ever heightened levels of sanctimoniousness piety to the depravity human beings can sink to, in acts of extreme cruelty.

Holocaust!

Yet decades have passed, what has actually been learnt?

Can antisemitism be weaponised?

Leveraged to justify unrelenting religious war?.

From the Islamist extremist chanting Jihadist terrorist violence used against “nonbelievers”.

To Israeli brutal IDF irradiation of Hamas, Hezbollah?
