black: still wear a mask can and will protect you from any of the maskless and unvaccinated people.

Yep.

But, do you intend to shed your mask while not being vaccinated? Because that's my concern. That attitude by a large number of people can result in a large number of needless deaths.

You have no reason to be concerned. your own vaccination and own choice to still wear a mask can and will protect you from any of the maskless and unvaccinated people.

don’t rely on strangers for you own protection.

Blackabel: and because of the new guideline, you wont know if the person in front of you without a mask is on Team Vaccination or Team I Dont Want One. why would you support a policy that makes it easier for your "enemy" to hide in plain sight?

My entire post referenced the good and bad of the policy. It's good that people can return to normal but it's bad that some people won't follow the guidelines which will cause needless death.

What's your position? You aren't vaccinated, will you wear a mask? The power to decide if my concerns are justified is entirely in your hands.

How will you deal with that? just confront each person without a mask until they satisfy you that they are really vaccinated? or just secretly judge each person based on if they look like someone who could be a Trump supporter? all this really complicates your life, while also putting you at unnecessary risk.

I am concerned for the people who aren't vaccinated passing the virus to others who aren't vaccinated if they don't follow the guidelines. It's just more needless death.

Blacklabel: Because a lot of you seemed overly concerned by masks no longer being required.

The science: https://www.gwinnettdailypost.com/features/health/whats-the-science-behind-cdcs-decision-to-say-fully-vaccinated-people-dont-need-masks/article_2344e6bb-e1c2-50b7-a4e5-88654fc843d5.html

The study found that real-life use of the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines provided 94% protection for the front-line workers immunized at the beginning of the vaccine rollout. A single dose provided 82% protection, the CDC-led team reported in the agency's weekly report, the MMWR

....

"COVID-19 vaccines reduce the risk of people spreading COVID-19."

...

The reason -- viral load. At least three major studies have shown that fully vaccinated people are not likely to test positive for corona virus, which indicates they are not carrying it in their bodies, whether they have symptoms or not

...

"And I think the other piece that's really important is the data coming out of real-life situations like Israel, showing that anyone who does get breakthrough asymptomatic infection -- which is very uncommon -- has dramatically reduced virus loads and virus shedding, so this really is interrupting transmission,

Because a lot of you seemed overly concerned by masks no longer being required.

are you confident this is a “science” decision and not a sudden political one? I’m not confident the science had anything to do with this.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

blacklabel: considering I never saw “the science” that supported this sudden reversal of the draconian mask policy

Why should that be a concern to me?

2 ( +2 / -0 )

I agree considering I never saw “the science” that supported this sudden reversal of the draconian mask policy. Was there some threshold that was met that once half the population is vaccinated that’s good enough?

almost seems like it’s a deflection tactic, with the hope that states and businesses and public shaming tactics will still force people to wear masks.

of course in 2 weeks the CDC can send Fauci out to flip flop what “the science” says then everyone back in masks.

Told y’all the mask thing was a form of control. So basically, once you get vaccinated, you can ditch the mask, that’s fantastic news, not something we didn’t already know, but still good news that’s now backed up by science, so follow it.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

Mix of good and bad news. Obviously it's good that life gets closer to normal, and if the scientists say it's OK then I believe them. I'm fully vaccinated anyway.

But obviously it's bad since people will lie about getting vaccinated so we're still going to see deaths due to those people passing it on to similar people, which they will. Hopefully businesses can get all of their employees vaccinated before fully opening up so the anti-covid vaxxers don't potentially kill them.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Ok doesn’t that support not needing to get the vaccine and still wearing a mask until your death from something else?

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

They can’t spread it. Your own vaccination and you wearing a mask still will prevent that.

Anti-vaxxers will lie about being vaccinated, get infected, and spread the infection to people who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

At the risk of being cynical, any strategy that relies on unvaccinated people being honest about their status and also agreeing to wear the mask is doomed to failure.

The school system here has already posted their policy which is copied word-for-word from the CDC guidance.

A parent writing about the new school policy:

As far as they are concerned, I am fully vaccinated and will no longer wear a mask when I pick my kids up.

That's a direct quote. Selfish.

What this will effectively mean is that every one will be required to wear a mask inside all businesses until deaths end and new infection rates are so very low that we 100% know herd protection has kicked in.

Anti-vaxxers will lie about being vaccinated, get infected, and spread the infection to people who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons.
