The snow just got here. Reports are for perhaps a meter in heavy lake effect storms. Tokyo in the winter is looking better all the time...have to get out the cross country skis.

Global Warming!

Another genius who thinks that snow must somehow cease to exist entirely in order for global warming to be a reality.

Last winter in MI they got 48 feet of snow was it? Could have been declared a major natural disaster zone. Yah, look it up imo.

WordStar, Japanese houses do not have water tanks in the attic. Pipes outside freeze and burst sometimes, yes, but you can put lagging on exposed pipes in advance. Most winters here in Japan our pipes freeze solid for several mornings. Get the kotatsu and the blankets ready!

The US has had storms like these as far as I can remember. We get more minute (in-detail) reporting nowadays, though, and people are always wondering if maybe the climatologists are right and some real change is actually happening.

I really dread one of these arctic blasts hitting Japan, because homes are just not insulated well enough to deal with it. And there will also be the danger of water pipes freezing up and bursting.

I have a friend in Minnesota and they got 2 feet of snow where he lives. We received about 2 inches in Kentucky and they still closed all the schools.

Hmm, it is in the "World" and not the "National" section. Could that be a reason?

Eh, why is this article in the JT? It has nothing to do with Japan...just wondering.

Global Warming!

I hope you're being doubly sarcastic, because global warming is what produces such extreme weather phenomena. If you think global warming results in warmer winters you need to go back and check your facts.

Favre lucks out again.

Good thing they already rescheduled the Minnesota Vikings vs NY Giants game the next day to Monday because the Giants plane had to be redirected to Kansas City due to snow in Minneapolis.

Otherwise, that spectacular collapse of the Metrodome teflon roof would've happened with people on the field!

If Tokyo thinks a few inches of snow is already bad.......!

I'm glad I'm not going home for Christmas this year. Flying through Chicago is bad enough in good weather, let alone a snowstorm.
