Straight-talking Fauci explains outbreak to a worried nation

In front of the TV cameras, in front of a meeting room filled with Trump loyalists (plus medical experts) Dr Fauci quickly corrected and contradicted Trump. He earned my respct just for that.

Now more than ever the public needs honesty, not more Trump/Pence flummery. We need a person whose scientific knowledge can be trusted. Take Trump's tweet-er away, send him to one of his resorts; keep Pence away from the media.

Let Dr Fauci be the man facing the public.

Shut that bonehead up in the Oval Office and just put this guy, Dr. Fauci, out there in public to address this serious issue and what needs to be done about it.

Dr. Fauci: Almost in matter-of-fact fashion Fauci acknowledged to Congress in recent days that the government system wasn't designed for mass testing of potential infections. “It is a failing, let’s admit it,” he told lawmakers.

Trump: “Now they have it, they have studied it, they know very much, in fact, we’re very close to a vaccine,”

Dr. Fauci: estimates that it would be at least a year or a year and a half before a vaccine would be available to the general public. Several potential vaccine solutions for coronavirus are in early development in China, but Daniel O’Day, CEO of Gilead Sciences, told Trump that those are only now entering clinical trials. It’s likely that a vaccine will eventually be developed and available to the general public, but it’s not going to save us from this current outbreak.

Dr. Fauci: And the fact is what I like to see is when people look at what we're doing and say, ‘you're overreacting.’ For me, the dynamics and the history of outbreaks is you are never where you think you are with the -- if you think you're in-line with the outbreak, you're already three weeks behind. So you've got to be almost overreacting a bit to keep up with it.

Admit it, Chip Star. If Trump himself came up with a vaccine for the virus and came up with a way to innoculate everyone on the planet with it within a few months, you'd complain he took too long.

No, he can say what he wants, it’s still a free country. I want the msm to shut up, but they do have the right to speak out, just do what I do, I just let Trump talk it goes in one ear and out the other when it comes to this, Dr. Fauci comes on, I turn up the volume. Easy and no stress, very simple and easy to do. Trump gets to say his mind and I got the satisfaction of listening and getting info from one of the most respected immunologists in the country.
