With all this global warming -I should invest in a good pair of cross-country skis or a plow and tire chains for my car.

Extremes in weather behavior is a symptom of global warming. As patterns change climates will change. Japan is becoming more subtropical. Less snow in most places, more rain.

Some places will find they are becoming arid. Others will see harsher extremes between summer and winter.

Global warming does not mean every single place is warmer all the time. It means complex changes to the global climate resulting from overall warming.

Move to Niseko.

changes to the global climate resulting from overall warming

Overall, looks like the climate is changing the climate is changing the climate. I dont think this has ever happened before? We should have a global climate change summit to find out what we can do to stop it.

Global warming is splendid, isn´t it.

How about all the warmening? If this keeps up, Mr Alberto Gore is really going to look a fool!

The only people looking the fool will be the poor sods who inherit the world we leave them if we don't do anything to improve our impact upon the environment.

I would think the flat earthers would at least be able to take the story of Noah to heart. Wasn't until the rain got up to the necks of the doubting crowd that they decided to open their eyes to the reality they were experiencing.

Some people here just seem to be able to doubt their way to extermination with no more effort than breathing.

Compared to 20 years ago, there is very little snow in Niseko recently. European houses are not built for for cold weather, it must be dreadful there right now.

Where are the global warming deniers now?

Time to forget about Swine Flu and head on down to warm, sunny Mexico, the Carribean etc..brrr! just reading about subfreezing Europe makes me want to jump into beaches of Baja, Cancun etc...

"Where are the global warming deniers now?"

You mean global warming activists? You must have missed tkoind2's post:

"Some people here just seem to be able to doubt their way to extermination"

Heh, some people here just seem to deny reality.

Great Post Sarge, i like your style. Tee Hee!

take the story of Noah to heart

He had God talking to him. He's the Big guy that knows this climate stuff.

We got who? Al Gore?

Will all this global warming, why am I freezing my a$$ off???

tokind2:

" Extremes in weather behavior is a symptom of global warming. "

Total nonsense. Extremes in weather behaviour are symptom of... well, global weather behaviour. The world has been throught heat periods and ice ages over and over again.

Tell us one single time frame in geological history where the climate did not change. Yes? I am not holding my breath.

Major football matches were canceled in Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands.

Haha, major understatement, many trains (like 80% or so) are cancelled in Netherlands. You are lucky if you can get at your destination with 1 hour of delay. Passengers are stranded at stations and airports because of the many snowfall. Poor passengers were also those who were stranded in the tunnel between France and the U.K. (in a train without electricity,.. kowai?). Advice they give here; don't go traveling by car, train (, plane?) unless you really need to go somewhere. So I am very glad I have winter holiday, gaming and watching TV/movies whole day :D .

European houses are build for withstanding the cold I think. My dad says this kind of freezing weather was normal in his days (also this amount of snow). We will see if there will be a white Christmas again this year.

(I also agree with WilliB, just a global weather pattern. Like I said, 30 years ago this weather was common here)

So they build their houses thin like Japanese = you will need a gas heater on full-blast for that or get those socks that pull up past the knees. CO meter may be needed also.

=Lib fools that are now paying the price for listening to Al Gore.

Blaming one blizzard on global warming misses the point completely. Global climate change is an average change over centuries. A blizzard is just a blip in the data that might be several standard deviations away from average but still be part of the normal population.

In other words, WilliB is right. Al Gore is hype. And whatever the average temperature is doing the politicians will, on average, have it wrong.

The world has been throught heat periods and ice ages over and over again.

But you haven't. Place yer bets!

I wonder if this is an issue for high school education standards.

Global warming is not only about getting warmer temperatures, it's about upsetting the climate in general: It's about extreme weather - and that is what the northern and southern regions of the globe are going to get: extra chilling winters, scathing summers and lots of mosquitoes. Forecast for El Niño is looking gloomy, too. Apparently the Caribbean and inter-tropical regions are heading for extra-dry summer and shortages of drinkable water. At least temperatures won't soar as much there as they did last year in Europe.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Should we be producing more CO2 to trick the mosquitoes? But with a foot of snow I feel I should need not worry. Will global warming make mosquitoes extinct?

Extreme cold and deserts aren't safe havens for mosquitoes anyway.

If Al Gore would have just made his case for global cooling he would have been a genius, but it was sort of a 50/50 thing and sometimes politicians make mistakes.

The mosquitoes move further north during the summer season. Mosquitoes are seasonal and live only a few days (each). In Europe there is increasing demand for professionals regarding insect plagues and sanitation regarding mosquito plagues; this year the demand was high for the first time (WHO). Mosquito-transmitted diseases considered "tropical" are appearing in Europe and USA (this year news). Mosquitoes are moving up thanks to global warming, which enables them to move deeper into the northern hemisphere thanks to raising temperatures in summer time.

Mosquito larvae can survive dormant through inhospitable seasons till rain returns. Apparently they are doing well in their newly claimed lands.
