"The FBI said terrorism was not suspected."

How come it's not an act of terrorism?

Frederic BastiatSEP. 25, 2016 - 05:02PM JST Had this loser been rejected by one of the victims? Turkish immigrant. Plays into the anti-arabic immigrant narrative, doesn't it.

Uhh... Turks aren't Arabs, so it shouldn't play into the narrative unless the people spouting the narrative are blithering idiots.

Don't worry, I think it will feed into it, too.

"The motive...should be interesting."

Jeff, one of the four female victims was allegedly his former girlfriend; another victim was the young woman's grandmother, who worked at Macy's cosmetics counter.

The only way you can probe the mindset of a mass shooter is to capture him/her alive. While it might be satisfying (as in cursing somebody out in the worst possible way) to be judge, jury, and executioner, one can NEVER understand what is going on, and second-guessing is worthless.

Gee what a surprise another arab attacker filled with so much hate that he shoots innocent strangers in the cause of his cult's believfs and the demcrats in power want to let thousands more potential killers into the US with no screening just to try to force a foreign religion on the rest of the country.

@GrisGersan, Hold on to your pants, wait for the motive before assuming the motive. And no, Turks are not Arabs no more than Iranians are Arabs (hint Iran used to be called Persia). But once we get a clear motive released then we'll know.

(Arcan) Cetin who immigrated to the U.S. from Turkey, is a legal permanent resident who has been living in Oak Harbor, authorities said. He had been arrested once before in the county for assault The Seattle Times reports.(http://bit.ly/2cWhxJY) that Skagit County court records show three domestic-violence assault charges against Cetin. The victim was identified as Cetin’s stepfather.

Like we needed further proof that immigration services are run by idiots. Whoever vetted this guy should be sent to jail with Cetin. And if he wasn't vetted then it's time for mass firings at the DHS and Department of Homeland Security.

4 ( +10 / -6 )

Limiting immigration is an issue the president has powers to sign a piece of paper and actually do something to effect, for one reason.

4 ( +7 / -3 )

Trump is talking about limiting immigration from any country compromised by terrorism against the West, so yeah I would imagine Iran, Turkey etc are going to climb to the top of the list. Although he still wouldn't have been vetted coming to the US as a child.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Immigrants seem to be nothing wrong but the real problem seems very easy for everyone to get guns somehow in America.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

The motive, if we're told, should be interesting.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

At first the press was making this guy out to be a Hispanic man. So now I guess now they will call him a Hispanic of Middle Eastern descent.

Not sure what your point is. The police had to go with initial witness reports of the suspect's description.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

What's worse is we just completely lost control of our borders and immigration which should be front and center stage of any debate.

Yeah, if they had proper screening at the borders, they would have known when he was a child that he was going to kill people as an adult.

Seems legit.

Liberals trying ONCE again in a futile attempt to ignore the REAL reason and instead they try to deflect the focus on radical Islam

Once again the right trying to turn every incident to focus on radical islam. As the details of this attack emerge, it doesn't appear to be religious based at all, but rather misogynistic in nature.

to attack the 2nd amendment.

Once again the right ignoring the fact that this guy used guns to kill five people.

God bless the second amendment!

Thousands upon THOUSANDS die by the gun every year in the US, so this is not really surprising news. What's also very sad, and not surprising, is that "immigration" is becoming the issue here, not the said thousands upon thousands of gun-related deaths per year.

If you get into trouble such as this guy did (charge of assault) while not yet a citizen of that country, I would think that would be grounds for getting the boot out of that country. You don't need to be opening the door for people that don't want to abide by the rules of a civilized society and yes I see the slight irony as I say that in this case but for the most part the laws of a civilized country (still find it hard to keep a straight face) but you get the point. There are plenty of people in the USA that are law abiding, hard working, tax paying good people that don't need some ticking powder keg walking around their city that's already been caught once. In these cases I think a one strike and you're out policy should exist! Would have saved five lives if it had been in place. RIP to those souls.

I am pretty sure that a domestic violence conviction, at least for adults, can be considered both a crime of moral turpitude.or aggravated felony, or even if it isn't is still a deportable offence.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Chop X2: "He is Turk and not Hispanic." ... ... Thank you Chop X2, but is he Turkish? Mark Rubio and Ted Cruz are not Hispanic - or so it seemed during the Republican primaries - so are they Turks? One respondent here to the original report of the shooting said he thought the suspect looked "Islamic". I didn't see the guy bent over on a prayer rug (as if that behavior can't be explained as something else - someone thinking of purchasing a carpet and checking for loose threads?). Because the surveillance photo showed a man with black hair? Mr. Obama had black hair before the office turned it gray. Does that mean he really was "Islamic" as more gullible folks claim and now he, too, has morphed into whatever gray haired people may be called? The shooter morphs from "Arab" to "Turk" and now maybe "Kurd". What will he be next week. This frenzied speculation is complete nonsense. Par.

This guy came to the US as a minor and graduated from the local high school in Oak Harbor. He has a history of mental health issues which is why terrorism isn't suspected. As a minor and with a possible plea from the victim of the assault he wasn't deported.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Captured alive!? Police didn't feel threatened by him...?

0 ( +3 / -3 )

If you get into trouble such as this guy did (charge of assault) while not yet a citizen of that country, I would think that would be grounds for getting the boot out of that country.> I imagine he would have to confess or have been convicted, even illegals have the right to due process within the immigration system. As a minor I'm not even sure that would suffice.

A simple assault conviction would not be sufficient to deport a legal permanent resident from the U.S. The only real chance of being deported would be an "aggravated felony" conviction or, to a lesser extent, a crime of "moral turpitude".

He is Turk and not Hispanic.

We had 8 years to secure the border with this president

Yeah, it's Obama's fault that the border guards don't screen children who may be future murderers.

Oh this guy was a real piece of work. At first we were told it was one charge but it's far worse than that. . .

As investigators tried to piece together information on Arcan Cetin, who was arrested Saturday evening after a nearly 24-hour manhunt, a picture emerged of a troubled young man. Court records show more than a half-dozen criminal cases in Island County alone since 2013.

This dirtbag's hometown is Adana, Turkey. "The major ethnic groups in Adana are the Turks, Arabs and Kurds."

@Smith. Yes, you are correct; thousands die each year from senseless gun violence which means there is no reason to important aggressive, violent people when we have enough of our own. And again you are correct; immigration is being offered as an issue and to deny that it is to stick one's head in the sand.

It never ceases to amaze me how the mods can allow someone to proclaim all immigrants to be aggressive, violent people and not bat an eyelash, but call someone a liar for spouting a verifiable lie and you get your post deleted. Apparently personal attacks are only personal to people who aren't immigrants, because apparently they aren't people.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

@Katsu. Well, I can answer those for you.

"It never ceases to amaze me how the mods can allow someone to proclaim all immigrants to be aggressive, violent people..." 1) Who said all immigrants are violent? Show me the quote. This one, however, was and should have been weeded out during the vetting process. Millions of people want into US and the majority of them are good but the process of immigrating must be controlled and it must be legal. It is not the responsibility of the US immigration policy to solve the problems of other countries.

"...and not bat an eyelash, but call someone a liar for spouting a verifiable lie and you get your post deleted." 2) Who called anyone a liar? I sometimes have posts deleted and it is usually when I am being overly emotional. Maybe the same thing happens to you?

"Apparently personal attacks are only personal to people who aren't immigrants, because apparently they aren't people." 3) Overly emotional....like this!

Rana Sodhi The US government wants to bring in 100,000 immigrants into the country and more. Obama just spoke at the UN saying countries need to do more. Also the gov wants to make Americans think they have controls in place to secure them from terrorist acts. The country will soon become like Europe where everyone is on electronic surveillance and still the bombs will go off. This is why the FBI said it was terrorism another reason is how the definition is applied to the act. English has many meanings it depends on how you use the language to describe the situation. "The FBI said terrorism was not suspected."

How come it's not an act of terrorism?

i expect we will see more of this until sanity returns to not only the US but Europe as well and the free pass for any and all people from the Middle east is shut down.
