Good.  He should clear his name, or be jailed if he cannot.  I'd hate to see him get off simply becasue of the statute of limitations when he hid out and refused to be questioned.

Assange might actually be fortunate to go to Sweden instead of the US

He should had done that in the first place years ago

https://www.abc.net.au/4corners/sex-lies-and-julian-assange/4156420

That's a 2012 Australian TV documentary (ABC) that goes into minute detail as to what actually happened in Sweden with Assange. There was no rape, there is no rape case. Nothing. It's all a smear, used by the US in an attempt to get their hands on Assange because he revealed American war crimes. In particular, the state-supported murder of innocent men, women and children.

There are now disturbing allegations that Assange is being chemically tortured in Bellmarsh Prison:

Alfie Noakes - There are now disturbing allegations that Assange is being chemically tortured in Bellmarsh Prison:

According to your linked article -

*Since one of our editors published this piece we have been inundated with caveats that the claims made of ‘chemical torture’ are unsupported and speculative. We have even had it suggested this is fake news. We’ve so far been unable to confirm or deny these claims. We’re leaving this article in place for the present, but please be aware of the unproven nature of the allegations *

Should this article be considered "unproven", or "speculation", or is it just a rumor posted by an Assange fangirl? Maybe it's just poor/lazy journalism on Karen Kwiatkowski's part?

Poor Julian. You really should've behaved yourself at the embassy...

Hey Sweden, have at him. We'll wait, he won't be going anywhere for a while.

Too bad the much maligned Assange isn't a president because then, as everybody knows, he could get away with murder and criticism from the MSM would be reduced to a mumble. Whatever bad stuff he has done in the past is child's play compared to the mayhem created by our world leaders so we can confidently conclude that the furor around Assange is really the case of a courageous individual who has been and continues to be subjected to constant character assassination as part of a vindictive conspiracy of political persecution by the powerful for Wikileaks's holding a mirror up to their unspeakable acts.

This was already shown to be a setup

Please provide a reputable link to where this was shown.

Why, are you reputable? It's the oldest playbook in the world to disrepute someone by charging them with rape. It's an accusation, not proven but in Japan even accusations are true so there's no day in court here however that's not the real world. He had politically embarrassed the USA, and by going after him they showed that other countries do the USA's bidding not just Japan

Recall that it was initially dropped in 2010 when a prosecutor concluded that 'no crime at all' had occurred. It was reopened as WikiLeaks prepared to publish the Iraq War Logs. Hello McFly? Hello? Anybody there?

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Still waiting for a source for your claim that doesn't end in 'conspiracy.org'.

The prosecutors couldn't remove him from the Ecuadorean embassy, yet he still refused to even speak with them. That's not the actions of an innocent man. If it's fake then he can go to court and clear his name, like he should have from the beginning.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

ok this part isn't true either

yet he still refused to even speak with them

you actually have no idea the situation

I'm a grown ass adult with an actual memory and I know how it went down because I was alive and know how systems work. I don't need validation

I'd just like to see where your claim comes from since, as expected, I can find absolutely nothing to corroborate your story. I can claim the moon is made of cheese because I remember it, doesn't make it true.

you actually have no idea the situation

You mean the situation that Sweden dropped the charges because they couldn't get access to Assange? That situation? Because I have a pretty good grasp on that situation.

The specific terms you're looking for is called character assassination and it's what the USA has been doing since it was proven to be committing war crimes. They want plebs to react, not think, or ask questions.

Thanks Alfie, there's a lot of good reporting out there

I know what 'character assassination' means. I'm not looking for 'terms', I'm looking for even a sliver of proof that these rape charges are a setup by the United States government, which you can't provide because it doesn't exist. Maybe you should look under the folder marked 'evidence of fake moon landing'...

The US doesn't need to assassinate Assange's character, he has done that all by himself with his own behavior. Not to mention, what would be the point? Character assassination would do nothing to change what he is wanted for in the US and have no effect on it. Do you think the UK is going to look at the extradition request and say 'well we would have denied this, but ew, he's a rapist, get him out of our country?'.

The entire idea of the US government faking rape charges to make Assange look bad makes no sense and you still haven't addressed why, if the Swedes are doing this on behalf of the US, have they reopened the case, which would potentially create difficulty for the US to get their hands on him.

Conspiracy theories are like Swiss cheese. Full of holes.

You might want to check that link again, since even that biased 'news' site has posted that the story is most likely false, but they are leaving it up anyway for 'reasons'.

Oh let me guess, the US government got to them!

C. All of the above

I hope Sweden gets precedence.. I’m not confident Trump would prosecute him.

@Wesley

The reason why the original "rape" allegations were dropped against him was because even a feminist country like Sweden had to admit that those 2 women had CONSENSUAL sex with him during some conference

Um, no, as mentioned in the article, the reason the original rape (In quotes? Really? Classy.) allegations were dropped was because Swedish authorities had no access to Assange while he was cowardly hiding in a foreign embassy instead of facing his accusers. Sweden has openly admitted this the entire time.

Can't do the time, don't do the crime. I'm looking forward to seeing him squirm during his upcoming trials. See you in DC, Julian. You're about to learn the hard way that 'releasing stolen documents" is not the same as "journalism".

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

This was already shown to be a setup and show that Sweden was/is USA's lapdog as it came at the same time USA wanted to arrest him and why he went into the embassy to begin with

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

I'm a grown ass adult with an actual memory and I know how it went down because I was alive and know how systems work. I don't need validation

So tell me then, if this was all done on the behalf of the US, why then is Sweden reopening the case against Assange now, when the US can get their hands on him. Seems like they’d be getting in the way of their American ‘masters’ grand plan.

Thing about conspiracy theories is that the more you look at them, the more they fall apart.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Regarding his releasing of sensitive information and the outfall I feel sorry for him. He did what any reporter would do. The vindictive U.S. and E.U. authorities will never forgive him for it and want to send the message out loud and clear 'Do that sort of thing and we will punish you!' No different than communist treatment of dissidents. (Russia, China, Nth Korea, etc.)

I suspect his enemies looked up his sexual partners and egged them on to make allegations.

-2 ( +8 / -10 )

He’s a hero. When heroes die, humanity dies.

-2 ( +8 / -10 )

The reason why the original "rape" allegations were dropped against him was because even a feminist country like Sweden had to admit that those 2 women had CONSENSUAL sex with him during some conference. These "rape" allegations are politically motivated and have nothing to do with actual sex crimes.

But that's not what the mainstream media, --- often bragging about how they are just trying to help humanity by finding out the "truth" -- wants you to know.

-2 ( +7 / -9 )

Ironic that Sweden and a rape charge may end up protecting Assange from America's revenge. Particularly now that America has shown its hand by publicly acknowledging they want him, whereas before they were able to operate under the veil of uncertainty.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Assange, the alleged rapist, has a long established history of being a computer hacker. He's actually hacked into government computer systems. If Assange, the alleged rapist, had only acted as a reporter/journalist when wikileaks was releasing stolen government documents, there is no case against him. OTOH, if it can be proved that Assange, the alleged rapist, actively participated in the hacking of government computers, he will not be considered a reporter/journalist.

-3 ( +5 / -8 )

ReOpen? I don’t believe the victim expects it was ever CLOSED before.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

It’s high time Sweden deals with this fiendish rapist. That his sort was ever allowed in the country was a crime. With his conviction rapist will shudder. Rape may even end in Sweden. Perhaps he can be rehabilitated by attending a “How Swedes approach sex” class. Maybe it was all a cultural misunderstanding.
