Sydney braces for more heavy rains & flash floods as many flee homes:

Year 2022 is witnessing extremely unusual rainfalls in NSW so far, notably in Sydney.

Floods arrive one after another. Compounded by wild spread of Covid, Sydneysiders are experiencing an unprecedented bad time..

whereas when ScoMo went missing he was away on holiday

this isn’t warmongering and trying to convince Ukraine to fight to the death of its last citizen and never sign a peace agreement.

if it was me I would probably be looking after my own country, maybe remotely from a beach in Bali.

This is a result of paving the area in concrete. The runoff previously used to soak into grasslands and eventually into the water table. Now the water is directed by massive roads and freeways into low lying paved areas. It gives people the appearance of worse flooding than before so they instantly conclude this is due to "climate change "

These rescue people are so brave and risk their lives to save others. Heros.

La Nina is a natural part of the weather pattern. Not "climate change".

El Niño and La Niña are ten year cycles. But global warming and climate change have a massive effect on these cycles. You go to some nations that are losing land. You do know for example, Manhattan is desperately trying to save its city?

Struth thats a lot of water, poor people must be devastating, one minute youve just got over the last flood and damage, then to see the water pouring back in through your doors must be heart breaking.

The current PM knows CC is real and is not in the pocket of the coal industry as the former PM clearly was. Australia is so vulnerable to climate disruptions but due to a decade of backward conservative leadership has done nothing to prepare or prevent it. This flooding is due to that abject failure.

I was talking to the Mrs. last weekend about the rash of “once-in-a-lifetime” climate events last weekend.

Our consensus is that we (“We” being humanity) had our warning and our chance. We ignored the warning (or at least the leaders and the people who voted them in did so). Now we suffer the consequences of inaction.

I hope we enjoyed the fruits of unfettered climate destruction because the bill is due. It’s going to be like this - flooding in one area, drought in another, catastrophic storms, extremes of heat and cold - from here on out for the rest of most of our lives.

@zurronium, not only is Oz part of CC, but the rest of the world is an accomplice too. what we do in the UK, USA, India etc all have a marked impact on the rest of the world. The world is getting onboard with CC and things are starting to change, but there is a few countries that have done nothing or very little to change, My girl friend who lives in Thailand says that the goverment has a plan in opporation to to plant millions of trees and there looking at electric car development etc.
