Another war-mongering article. Nowhere do I see a mention that this war would have not happened without the irresponsible support of the Sunni Jihadists by Saudi Arabia, Israel, the US, and its NATO dwarfs. The (authoritarian, but secular) Assad government could have dealt with the Jihadis like it did before. But no, Clinton et al just had to support their "vetted rebels".

Zaphod..... Well said! So lets not forget Syria and Libya when praising St. Obama.

And while we are at it give thanks to Putin for putting a stop to their nonsense.

oh compared to Iraq and Afghanistan, which have cost far more lives and money ( almost $3 trillion) and which were started by a Republican president on a lie, and are still ongoing almost 20yrs later. Selective amnesia is strong with the reds

no giving thanks to Trump since he's effectively abandoned Americas allies to die and handed Syria to Russia, a strong strategic country that America will feel for many decades to come.

You mean ISIS?

wtfjapan:

Afghanistan and Iraq are not an excuse for the terrible US policy in Syria. By the way, Trump is FINALLY taking steps to withdraw from Afghanistan, something that Obama never even tried in 8 years.T

And what is that about "Trump since he's effectively abandoned Americas allies"? Are you shedding for Al Nusra and the other "vetted rebels", who Trump stopped supporting? Thank god for that, and shame on you for sympathising with the head cutters.

WTFJapan...... Yes, Afghanistan and Iraq were republican wars and yes, just as dumb and ill conceived.

To think, that could be me, carrying my lifeless child through a rubble strewn city, that could be any one of us who has a child, a niece or nephew, a neighbor... left to run to try and save a life. The mind-boggles at how we collapse into barbarity, into this destruction. Syria truly is a failing for all of humanity. An indelible stain.

While we argue the demerits of Trump, Obama, Clinton, Bush, Putin, Churchill, whoever, I wonder if the Syrians in the photo make such distinctions. It's quite sad. How about we discuss solutions instead of who's to blame?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

albaleo.... the solution is simple, The US and its wagging tail allies should stop pandering to the Israeli right wing, Gulf monarchies and oil interests whoever is in the White House.

totally agree , and that goes for Syria and Libya, but if people are going to point fingers at presidents they dont like for things they may not have or havent done well, then its fair to look at others for their faults also.

Im referring to the Kurds who fought side by side with American soldiers fighting Assad, then Trump just got up and left them, now they've sided with Turkey so as to not be exterminated by Assad and Putin

I totally agree , but the problem is when the current POTUS continually fails and refuses to be accountable for anything, his supporters continue that excuse for people that are not even relevant anymore.

You are aware of what the letters of the acronym wtf stand for, aren't you?

im not stupid, yes I know what it means and its precisely why I used it, for all the times the J government & J justice has failed Japanese, eg , hostage justice, J Inc fraud yet no accountability ive lost count of how many bows yet so few convictions, continued failure to make reforms to strengthen Japan's economy, 30yrs of stagnation, treating J women as second class citizens, J companies continued exploitation of its workers, death by over work. I could go on and on and Ive not even mentioned the gaijin plight of living in Japan. Ask any long term foreigner in Japan and theyll certainly understand what wtfjapan means and is referring too. The next time you hear or see something in Japan that totally void of common sense or logic,

and excused as a "cultural trait ", or "foreigners wouldnt understand" or "this is Japan" "dont like it go home" believe me there are many you can just say to yourself WTF........ NO i dont hate Japan, there are many things i dislike about the place yet the positives outweigh the negatives which is why my family and I are still here.

Very sad. Shame on all who are allowing this to go on for so long.

President Bashar al-Assad should not be where he is. The guy is pure evil. Everyone and anyone who tries justifying Assad's legitimacy is either cruel-hearted or just simply has no heart.

I believe the United Nations needs to change its whole makeup and system. It needs to be able to act and stop these catastrophes before they become this absolutely unbearably unmanageable.

Where do you get fairy tales like this from? "The Kurds" (who have several very different factions by the way), never "fought side by side with American soldiers fighting Assad" ... if for no other reason that American soldiers never fought Assad (apart from treacherously supporting the jihadists fight Assad). And "the Kurds" were never in danger of being "exterminated by Assad and Putin". The Kurds were fighting this little thing called ISIS that was exterminating them, remember that?

im not stupid,

OK, good to know that. You certainly have strange sources of information.

President Bashar al-Assad should not be where he is.

The alternative to Assad is ISIS (the remnants of which are holding out in Idlib). You seriously prefer that??

wtfJapan:

American soldiers were not fighting Assad (other than stupidly assisting the "vetted rebels", and neither are Kurds (except those who joined ISIS et al).

Where Kurds and American soldiers cooperated where in fighting ISIS. Where in the world do you find this misinformation that you post here??
