Why is Israel attacking Syria?

Their actions make little sense and are harming innocent people.

The Israelis wonder why they are despised in the Middle East...

If the stupid and illegal 2003 - 2011 Iraq War didn't occur, there would be no ISIL threat and things wouldn't be the mess in the region that it is. Saddam Hussein was a rotten dictator but he kept a lid on such crazy activity. Take him out of the equation and the cork came off the bottle. The genie escaped. The Syrian Civil War has confounded the problem.

America is now involved in the military-industrial complex that Ike Eisenhower warned about in 1960.

The Middle East is in focus again.

Just days after US bombing over Syria, Israel follows up with attacks near the vicinity of Damascus. Why? Where is the legitimacy?

Some people here need to follow the news to build up a background to what is happening there, a proxy war.

No mention of the Russian bombing of IS targets in eastern Syria. Their 'legitimacy' comes from Assad and Iran paramilitaries.

The 'legitimacy' of Israel and the US attacks on Iranian-link targets is buried deep within the article, starting from line 5.

Quote: Israel has launched hundreds of strikes against Iran-linked military targets in Syria over the years, but rarely acknowledges or discusses such operations.

Israel views Iranian entrenchment on its northern frontier as a red line, and it has repeatedly struck Iran-linked facilities and weapons convoys destined for Lebanon’s militant Hezbollah group.

The attack comes after the United States launched airstrikes in Syria on Thursday, targeting facilities near the Iraqi border used by Iranian-backed militia groups.

The Pentagon said the strikes were retaliation for a rocket attack in Iraq earlier this month that killed one civilian contractor and wounded a U.S. service member and other coalition troops.

Israel has the right to commit human rights abuses and war crimes anywhere in the world they choose because over 1.6m Jews died in the Haulicaust over 70 years ago.

Why is Israel attacking Syria?

Because the Alevite Assad government is supported by Iran, and Israel sadly still sees Iran as its biggest enemy and prefers Wahabi Sunni radicals to the secular Assad government in Damascus.

Their actions make little sense and are harming innocent people.

It makes complety sense and is consistent from the Israeli perspective, much as I would disagree with it.
