Russian army is so inept it needs foreigners to do the fighting for any chance of victory.

True, but Syria also has some of the most ruthless fighters, not a good sign at all, just going make things worse they don’t care about anyone else’s lives, the overall cost to men, it’s just all around bad.

Only fair to report both sides.

Go tell that to Russian state-controled TV: they even "outfox" Murdoch's vile operation in their one-sided fake news "reporting".

Just saying that providing or accepting coalition forces and military aid is more a diplomatic gesture, and not the best metric to measure military strength.

There are political constraints, acceptable limits of attrition, public opinion, etc.

Russian rubles already pay the poverty of several non-Russian ethnic groups enticed and tempted to serve as cannon fodder for Putin's grandiose ambitions. Syrian hirelings likewise are apparently willing to die fighting for mercenary motives and serving their infidel Russian contractors.

The US had several coalition partners in Vietnam and Afghanistan. Look what happened there.

Wonder how these Syrians will enjoy Russian army rations, logistics, being and fighting in a landscape they never imagined existed. Think most will desert and apply for refuge status.

“The way the operations are going is clear indication that Ukraine will not be another Afghanistan,”

no, it’ll be another Syria, death & destruction - the only way Russia knows.

In a potentially worrying sign for the Syrian government, Russia has significantly scaled down its operations in Syria since the war in Ukraine started, with fewer airstrikes targeting IS or opposition positions in Idlib.

Good. maybe that'll breathe life into the opposition to galvanize and oust this bloodthirsty Putin sock puppet. Any ground or influence that Russia loses will be a good thing

What the Syrian forces are most likely to end up doing if they end up in Donetsk and Luhansk is clearing the neighborhoods the otherNword State In Europe have been driven from of the boobytraps left with the intent to murder and terrorize the returning civilian population.

Think a few NATO advisers trainers don’t equal 10s of thousands Syrians! The butchers bill of civilians will get much worse, Russia already has the Chechen fighters. But they need more to make up for their losses and inadequacy at playing soldiers.

Besides, missiles cause multiple explosions in western Ukraine city of Lviv.

The second wave of bombings over the cities (notably in the eastern region) has already begun.

This time, they are heavier, much more intensive and frequent than the first round.

Sadly, the war has escalated badly..

@kipling And we know how much you love reporting the Russian side. FYI, the definition of a mercenary is ‘ Motivated solely by a desire for monetary or material gain’ You’ll find that most of the foreign soldiers are ‘volunteers’ - fighting for a cause - freedom. That concept may be hard for you to believe, considering you’ve been advocating Ukraine hand over their country to tyrannical Russian rule. Easy to say when you’re enjoying the comforts & freedom that the west offers you

"Only fair to report both sides."

Precisely!

Although "some" would rather not.

Ukraine is at a disadvantage here as NATO will not send troops to help them, but Syria sends troops to help Russia. Frankly. I think that direct NATO involvement is ultimately inevitable. And if so, better to do it now than later. We need to stop playing by Putin's rules.

The US had several coalition partners in Vietnam and Afghanistan. Look what happened there.

so shouldn’t be a problem for Russia and it’s coalition partners?

There are at present no Syrians fighting in Ukraine. There are US, UK, German, Polish ,Spanish and other mercenaries on the Ukrainian side. Only fair to report both sides.

Captured Syrian fighters will bring out every islamophobic impulse in Ukrainians risking their lives to defend their families and homeland. Few Syrians will live to tell their story.

"Ukraine is at a disadvantage here as NATO will not send troops to help them, but Syria sends troops to help Russia"

But Britain is sending quite a few mercenaries.

Some have been captured, are all over the Net.
