We were told the reason to get vaccinated was to NOT get COVID.

And that is still applicable, even if the efficacy is reduced as expected because of variants. People getting the infection without getting the disease is much more common now thanks to vaccination.

i don’t care if they changed it later after they tricked people with that falsehood. Its what was said at the time, an intentional lie and people can’t go back and get in-vaccinated.

Misrepresenting what is being told, or pretending infection has the same meaning as the disease, complications or deaths is not valid. Vaccination still reduces the most important risks associated with the infection, it is still recommended for everybody for the general population.

Poor bloke. Get well soon, mate.

“The two Chens are not related.”

Yeah, thought I was seeing a bit of double Chen there but seems they’ve set us straight.

This is a fact. They said it. That is the bottom line. There are quotes of them saying it

And "they" also said this was bound to change if immune escape variants appeared, which made vaccination a very heavy priority for every country around the world.

We are fortunate that the known variants are not different enough to negate the value of vaccines, but pretending variants do not exist and reduce the efficacy of all the immunity against previous strains (including the one obtained after infection) is just being in denial and misrepresenting what was said from the very beginning.

Let's review.

In the beginning of the new covid vaccine hype, influential politicians ( joe biden, tony fauci ) and tv news folk said that the vaccine would prevent infection.

This is a fact. They said it. That is the bottom line. There are quotes of them saying it.

Censoring won't change this fact.

No need to know whenever a high profile person has Covid. They’ll recover soon enough.

It was useless in his case. He got Covid.

No, that is not how vaccines work nor how risk is calculated.

Is he in the same risk of being hospitalized or die because of the infection? obviously not, that means the vaccine was extremely effective for him.

Neither me, nor any of the unvaccinated people I know developed serious symptoms from Covid-19.

It seems that vaccinated or unvaccinated, the vast majority will exhibit only mild symptoms

The present vaccines don’t seem to target the Omicron variant effectively; people I know with 4 jabs regularly are infected…

That does not contradict the data obtained from millions over millions of cases that do prove being vaccinated reduce the risk of this. Being vaccinated means less risk, demonstrated scientifically by much more than looking at the people around a single person and with much better control and descriptions.

More anti-vaxxer, anti-science nonsense.

No wonder the US is in the state that it is with tens of millions of people "thinking" like this.

Vaccines don't prevent infection. They minimize the symptoms so less chance of ending up in an ICU. For most vaccinated people getting Covid19 like getting a bad cold.

Luckily he had been vaccinated several times so the symptoms are mild.

So guys get your boosters and wear masks all the time.

Why is that ominous face in background? Why AP uses a distorted, unrelated image here? This is not from Taiwan’s press event of such news.

That‘s really strange. As a health specialist, he must have undergone vaccination on several occasions, and yet he contracted the virus. Is there something we don‘t know about COVID 19 still as yet?

It is more of a problem of not accepting something, not so much about having unknowns. All vaccines have failure rates, specially if the objective is to prevent infection. Covid vaccines are the same as many others before, they are extremely good at preventing serious complications and death, but not as effective at preventing the infection or even mild symptoms.
