If Taiwan is a part of China, what line did they cross?

The skies is friendly, it was America and her lackeys flying disturbance over Taiwan Strait that caused everyone hostile. They frequently flying P8 over South China Sea and the strait between Taiwan and the Philippines. Most recently the B1 bombers flew across the Korean peninsula closing in Shandong peninsula... The PLAAF should step up fighter/bomber combat patrol mission over these seas to tell the Yankees we mean business!

Only 10? Even though President Tsai touched down in New York?

Was expecting much more juvenile fireworks.

9 ( +14 / -5 )

Let's see now. How is sending military aircraft in a mock attack anything but a hostile act? Yet China will whine and whine about any little thing it can characterise as hostile. In a world of laughable hypocrisy, China is always the winner.

蔡英文 is keeping a low profile as befits a leader of a country whose only officially recognized friends in The Americas are Belize and Guatemala.

Was expecting much more juvenile fireworks.

Start shooting them down. PRC needs to learn to what real red lines are.

Boy it would be a shame if the PRC owned exactly none of these areas. If you want WW3, you should want for the PRC to keep pushing it.

China's only friends are its dog Russia and its partner in crime, NK.

Belize and Guatemala were seeking to break ties with Taiwan. They were waiting Tsai's promised late payment.Taiwan is not a legitimate nation but an authority runs by gangs (KMT& DPP)!

If you don't think the CCP is an unelected criminal enterprise with no investigation of the top, then you are seriously deluded.

If Taiwan is a part of China, what line did they cross?

Taiwan is independent and is not ruled by the CCP. It never has been in its entire history.

China again out stirring up trouble. Continuing its threatening behavior towards Taiwan and destabilizing security in the region.

China loves to point fingers at everyone else who sails and fly's around in the South China sea, saying they are militarizing the region and threatening China's sovereignty, when they are doing nothing of the sort. But China loves to threaten Taiwan's independence at every opportunity.

Disgusting bullying behavior from a nation that thinks it should be a world leader. It just does not have the wisdom or diplomatic savvy to lead China itself let alone stand up as a world leader. The fact is smart people will not follow repressive China, they are a joke.

PRC is run by elitists who consider it is their birthright to wield power.

At least in Taiwan the citizens have a right to speak their mind without fear of security services knocking on their door at any time of day.

Why is the news official while that median as a barrier is not official?

Why is the news official while that median as a barrier is not official?

Because China used to recognize it and stay on their side. Now they frequently cross it.

Peter14, Taiwan is part of mainland China, even the official US policy

You need to study the subject more.

"When the United States moved to recognize the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and de-recognize the Republic of China (ROC) in 1979, the United States stated that the government of the People’s Republic of China was “the sole legal Government of China.” Sole, meaning the PRC was and is the only China, with no consideration of the ROC as a separate sovereign entity.

The United States did not, however, give in to Chinese demands that it recognize Chinese sovereignty over Taiwan (which is the name preferred by the United States since it opted to de-recognize the ROC). Instead, Washington acknowledged the Chinese position that Taiwan was part of China. For geopolitical reasons, both the United States and the PRC were willing to go forward with diplomatic recognition despite their differences on this matter. When China attempted to change the Chinese text from the original acknowledge to recognize, Deputy Secretary of State Warren Christopher told a Senate hearing questioner, “[W]e regard the English text as being the binding text. We regard the word ‘acknowledge’ as being the word that is determinative for the U.S.” In the August 17, 1982, U.S.-China Communique, the United States went one step further, stating that it had no intention of pursuing a policy of “two Chinas” or “one China, one Taiwan.”

To this day, the U.S. “one China” position stands: the United States recognizes the PRC as the sole legal government of China but only acknowledges the Chinese position that Taiwan is part of China. Thus, the United States maintains formal relations with the PRC and has unofficial relations with Taiwan. The “one China” policy has subsequently been reaffirmed by every new incoming U.S. administration."

The US position on Taiwan is clear -- it does not recognize Beijing's sovereignty over Taiwan, and it has emphasized it time and again, even though it recognizes "one China", undefined. That irks Beijing but is the legacy of the San Francisco Treaty of 1951, which marked the formal end of WW2. China should have no sovereignty over Taiwan, just like it ought not to have sovereignty over Tibet, Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, Hong Kong, etc. They are colonies annexed by China and should become independent. China needs to impose force to keep them subdued, but the people there don't like the Chinese, and would exploit the first opportunity to become independent, just like Korea, Vietnam and Mongolia did. Takes a long time but will get there. China is going down hill, since about 2008. Its empire will disintegrate.

Taiwan isn't independent !

Of course it is.

It's self governing.

Its independence is exactly why it is self governing. Chinese military is not allowed in Taiwan, Chinese national laws do not apply to, or in Taiwan. Taiwan has its own independent armed forces, taxation and currency. Everyone knows it is independent, even China realizes it but they refuse to accept reality. They really are a bunch of schmucks in the CCP.

Peter14,if Xi is bad,why is Zelensky, looking for China for salvation, when China is all out for Russia,do you think Zelensky is a little naive

whose only officially recognized friends in The Americas are Belize and Guatemala.

That isn't really true, is it? Everyone in the world wants to be friends with Taiwan, but China puts up roadblocks for everyone they can to block trade to the Taiwanese. The CCP is selfish, like a 2 yr old child that needs a nap.

The CCP also needs to learn to read a map, clearly.

Time to understand China. No one really likes you, no matter what you think. And, when push comes to shove, everyone will try to undermine your inane, authoritarian regime.

@elephant200 WHAT’S this “WE mean business”? Don’t you know businesses get shut down!!! What a dark post you said the skies are friendly and yes when the P8 fly over waters CLAIMED by China but not recognized by neighboring countries or in the straits it is considered INTERNATIONAL WATERS. JT the use of Yankee here is very offensive!

Taiwan supported the US during the Vietnam conflict by hosting American forces in Taichung and Taipei. Why is America cowering before the paper tiger across the Taiwan straits? America, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Canada, Vietnam and other south east Asian countries should base their forces on Taiwan because China only understands a show of strength.

Simultaneously, reduce trade with China and increase trade with these freedom loving countries who support Taiwan. Make China understand that there is a price to pay for its war mongering behavior.

If criminal China is not shown some red lines, next it will be the maritime blockade.

Thanks Nancy?

Nancy Pelosi isn't speaker anymore so that just leaves traditional PRC criminality as the explanation. Also there is no way Surrender Donald can be trusted to handle a Taiwan crisis.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

It's called cause and effect. The Speaker of the House visited Taiwan and China responded.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

The President of Taiwan who is in the US has irked China and is inevitably becoming envious. Yet, 10 is a small number and additional aircraft were anticipated.
