First Hong Kong, then Taiwan, both with landslide elections against authoritarians.

Not just these two countries people have been voting against Socialism worldwide - Congratulations to Taiwan.

Good-job! Taiwan is China without the CCP.

Blame Nixon, who thought by pandering to China, he could keep the USSR at bay. Almost overnight, Taiwan lost its diplomatic status with half of the UN, and Japan sadly severed diplomatic ties with Taiwan a year later.

Great news, the people of Taiwan have spoken.

Faur play to Taiwan, the "real China". It's had a bloody history, let's hope it has a safe and independent future, free from interference.

Was lucky enough to visit the country and loved it.

I blame the US for giving China the means to become the bully it is today.

It's not just the U.S. The entire free world was deceived by the CCP's claim of a "Peaceful Rise".

Should push come to shove I hope that the world will back the people of Hong Kong and Taiwan in the face of the authoritarian monster.

Well done Taiwan. May you continue to stand strong in your freedom and independence.

Well done, Taiwan! Just like the citizens of Hong Kong, Taiwanese have stood up to the bully chinese, and overwhelmingly chosen freedom and democracy over communism.

Next up I hope - USA and Japan to recognize Taiwan as an independent, sovereign nation.

Good for Taiwan but China is using money to cut off all Taiwan's allies so Taiwan has to depend on China. It's like a disgusting and forceful marriage. I blame the US for giving China the means to become the bully it is today.

Until the mainland goes fully democratic in their selection of leaders, I don't see Taiwan wanting to reunite.

It will happen. Eventually. Democracy for all of China! Might take a generation or two, but it will happen.

Taiwan needs more recognition globally for their strong defiance against the CCP's blatant attempts at using military power to threaten their INDEPENDENT and FREE nation.

Taiwan is the real China, it shows what Chinese people can be without the CCP. Go Taiwan !

First Hong Kong, then Taiwan, both with landslide elections against authoritarians.

It seems "One China, two systems," isn't very popular in Taiwan. Of course, people in Taiwan got to see how China practices that policy in Hong Kong, and that is not very reassuring to anyone who likes freedom and democracy.

Taiwan should be recognized by the entire free world as a fellow free nation.

Why do you need reunification unless Taiwan is already independent! Free Taiwan Free Hong Kong

Was in Taiwan recently, wonderful place , great people.

its disgraceful how they have been treated by other countries and the U.N.

More power to Tsai and the Taiwanese people.
