Trump is a traitor.

Lol

The former Insurrectionist-in-Chief is 100% responsible for the attack on democracy … another “date that will live in infamy”.

The text messages between Hannity and the WH Press Secretary are insane. On Jan 7 he contacted her and gave her the narrative to use.

Except that he got it wrong.

He listed a plan saying Trump would accept the results after talking with Mike Pence. Hannity told her to say that Trump is even considering going to the inauguration. She thanked him and told him should would do it.

Obviously Trump changed Hannity's mind.

In other news, Fox's entertainment division is giving the WH narratives to use.

Except for a few idiotic leaders of the Proud Boys or Oath Keepers, I doubt anyone seriously thought that this "attempted coup" would work. This committee is just doing busy work. There are much bigger problems that Congress should be working on.

-18 ( +13 / -31 )

In one clip, the panel played a quip from former Attorney General Bill Barr who testified that he told Trump the claims of a rigged election were “bull——.”

Bill Barr - from the Trump supporters favorite AG, to a traitor in one sentence....

In another, the former president's daughter, Ivanka Trump, testified to the committee that she respected Barr's view that there was no election fraud. “I accepted what he said.”

Uh-oh....Ivanka just decreed the title of Trump's favorite kid to Barron...and what will Jared say?

There was an audible gasp in the hearing room, when Cheney read an account that said when Trump was told the Capitol mob was chanting for Vice President Mike Pence to be hanged, Trump responded that maybe they were right, that he “deserves it.”

The VP what backed Trump in every way for four years - get's told he "deserves to hang" for standing up for the Constitution and our democracy.... Nothing better sums up MAGA-world....

Against this backdrop, the committee is speaking to a divided America, ahead of the fall midterm elections when voters decide which party controls Congress. Most TV networks were carrying the hearing live, but Fox News Channel was not.

More far-right cancel culture...I'm reminded of the Jack Nicholson line "You can't take the truth"....

Court documents show that members of the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers were discussing as early as November a need to fight to keep Trump in office. Leaders both groups and some members have since been indicted on rare sedition charges over the military-style attack.

And there they are - pro-Trump white supremacy nationalists plotting a violent overthrow....and we'll find out which Trump staffers were in on the plot....

House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy, who has been caught up in the probe and has defied the committee's subpoena for an interview, echoed Trump on Thursday. He called the panel a “scam” and labeled the investigation a political “smokescreen” for Democrats' priorities.

Sure Kevin, just pretend that tape where you said Trump was responsible and should resign doesn't exist...what an embarrassment...

The Trump supporters are going to need lots of hankies over the next couple weeks...

18 ( +29 / -11 )

And right on cue, Kevin McCarthy gets self-owned again....

*Leaked audio shows House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy supporting a congressional inquiry into the January 6, the total opposite to the opinion he later argued in public. The audio, recorded five days after the riot, was played Wednesday on CNN after being obtained by New York Times reporters Jonathan Martin and Alexander Burns. It undermines the fervent arguments McCarthy made in public against the creation of the bipartisan House committee investigating the riot, which is due to begin its public hearings Thursday evening.*

*"When they started breaking into my office, myself and the staff got removed from the office. In doing so, I made a phone call to the president, telling him what was going on, asking him to tell these people to stop, to make a video and go out. And I was very intense and very loud about it," he said.*

*In another clip *he argued strongly for a Congressional inquiry and described himself as "committed" to making that happen.

This guy obviously has a very high tolerance for public humiliation and shame....LOL....

The text messages between Hannity and the WH Press Secretary are insane. On Jan 7 he contacted her and gave her the narrative to use.

Ok and?

Except that he got it wrong.

He listed a plan saying Trump would accept the results after talking with Mike Pence. Hannity told her to say that Trump is even considering going to the inauguration. She thanked him and told him should would do it.

Shocking….perhaps?

Obviously Trump changed Hannity's mind.

In other news, Fox's entertainment division is giving the WH narratives to use

Can you prove it? Even if that were true, how is that different from Al Sharpton visiting the WH under two previous administrations and what was Maddow’s excuse?

-28 ( +9 / -37 )

Bass: Can you prove it?

Yes. They showed the text messages. Hannity laid out 5 talking points and emphasized, "no more crazy people" meaning no more supporting this.

The WH press secretary said she would get started immediately.

17 ( +23 / -6 )

There are much bigger problems that Congress should be working on.

Congress should be working on ensuring congress doesn’t get attacked again and that those responsible are charged and punished. That is the problem that Congress is working on and we see unfolding.

15 ( +22 / -7 )

The forthcoming details will be fascinating, but will not change the obvious conclusion of any unbiased person that what is already out in the public record concerning January 6 shows that the violence of that day was an attempted coup planned by suits in secret and instigated and green-lighted by Trump who at the start of the 2020 campaign unsubtly signaled on several occasions that he would refuse to accept defeat in the polls. Although it now seems likely that with all the attention focused on the "insurrection" Garland will narrow or choke off the scope of indictments for Trump and other co-conspirators, but justice demands that the Oval Office miscreant should not be let off the hook for the plethora of other crimes committed before, during and after his disastrous 4-year posing as president. The Chinese say "kill a chicken to scare the monkeys", which in a democracy like the USA, notorious for draconian sentences, ought to translate for Trump and his traitorous enablers into life without parole in an American Super-Max.

Hmmm….

-26 ( +4 / -30 )

Bass: Ok and?

I was fascinated that 1) Hannity got it so wrong and 2) he's telling Trump's press secretary what to say..

What's it to you?

https://thehill.com/news/house/3518534-the-five-most-dramatic-moments-from-the-jan-6-hearing/

sounds like bunch of nothing.

OMG Liz Cheney criticized Trump! Never expected that one.

I was fascinated that 1) Hannity got it so wrong and 2) he's telling Trump's press secretary what to say..

What's it to you?

Nothing, I just think, we have other serious issues and for the Democrats, they want to rehash something that no one cares about, but if you all think so....

Definitely does not help the average American or truck driver, but carry on, there might be a gold nugget somewhere.

-20 ( +7 / -27 )

Bass: Nothing

Great.

11 ( +15 / -4 )

My goodness. Here we have the proof and yet some people here are still not convinced. I wonder why that is?

8 ( +15 / -7 )

Thanks for the link, black. Those were dramatic moments, especially the videos and testimony from the police officer and especially the video of Ivanka saying she doesn't believe The Big Lie.

One thing not mentioned in the article was when the committee said they have evidence of several Republican Congressmen who asked Trump for a pardon for their actions. Can't wait to see it.

10 ( +14 / -4 )

This is only day 1 - the best is yet to come. But the reality important one is that Barr and others had found no evidence of election fraud and Trump knew this. Those shows his mens rea (guilty mind) in the subsequent attempts to prevent the subsequent transfer of power.

The smoking gun is not the riot itself - that was just part of it, but the fake elector scheme which was developed by John Eastman. It was put into operation to the extent that alternative electoral college votes were secretly submitted, showing Trump a winner in certain States were the Republicans had actually lost. Mike Pence was supposed to read these out instead.

There is enough anyway for the police to at least interview Trump.

6 ( +11 / -5 )

I wonder why they won’t show the 40,000 hours of video they still haven’t released?

Feel free to watch any of the new footage of the riot that has been released. But warning - a lot of it is quite graphic riot and contains violence.

9 ( +14 / -5 )

Can't wait for 2024.Someone will be provd wrong.

The reviewers dont see to be as impressed as the posters here. Says they need to get a reality TV type producer for this.

This is only day 1 - the best is yet to come.

Day is right....10 am is prime TV viewing time. will be competing with game shows and judge programs, might do better for the 10 people that watch it.

the next televised January 6 committee hearing will be broadcast on June 13 at 10:00 a.m. ET, with most outlets airing the event live. Another hearing is scheduled for June 15 at 10:00 a.m. ET with three more to follow.

https://thehill.com/opinion/campaign/3516707-made-for-tv-jan-6-hearings-wont-rescue-democrats/

A recent NBC poll shows a dwindling number of Americans blaming Trump for the attack on the Capitol; 45 percent now say he is “solely” or “mainly” responsible, down from 52 percent the month Joe Biden took office. Moreover, 55 percent say he is “only somewhat” or “not really” to blame for the riots, up from 47 percent in January 2021.

-13 ( +4 / -17 )

Shocking finding by this "panel".

-8 ( +5 / -13 )

Trump supporters don't care that Trump sowed the seed of doubt about the 2020 election long before it even occurred, and peddled this unsubstantiated nonsense to build up a base of support in case he lost. Which he did.

Trump supporters don't care that Trump pursued or at least entertained various channels to overturn the results of the election, including recruiting alternate electors, seizing voting machines, getting Mike Pence and Congress to invalidate the results, and calling the Georgia Secretary of State to "find" votes for him (i.e., election interference).

Trump supporters don't care that Republican members of commerce were on board for all of it.

Trump supporters don't care that Trump and the GOP are busy making sure they get it right in 2024.

This is not democracy.

The Democrats, but they’ll get a lesson in political defeat 1.02 in November

You see, that's all Trump supporters care about. Winning. No moral integrity whatsoever.

8 ( +14 / -6 )

What Trump knew and when he knew it - and whether and how he instigated the attack in the days preceding 1/6 - must be be laid out in detail, for two reasons: to ensure justice to the victims and punishment to the perpetrators; and to ensure that such a tragedy does not occur again.

Will Trump be jailed? He should, but it is unprecedented. Perhaps he will be sentenced to home confinement and his visitors restricted.

7 ( +12 / -5 )

I agree, Laguna. If other people just don't care that's their choice, but my choice counts too, and I want the investigation.

The other people can check out all they want, but I suspect they will be here daily.

7 ( +11 / -4 )

The threat to Democracy is twofold.

First is Trump's 7-point plan to get alternate electors to change the votes to him. That's a big threat to Democracy if you ask me. If it's not to you, so be it.

The second was the rioters who tried to stop the certification entirely through violence. That, in my opinion, has less of a chance of succeeding, but it happened anyway.

Trump supporters don't care that Trump sowed the seed of doubt about the 2020 election

Hey, you don’t get to skate off like that, when the Dems and the Feds tried to oust Trump, there was complete silence and now all of a sudden there’s this mad outrage. Please!

long before it even occurred, and peddled this unsubstantiated nonsense to build up a base of support in case he lost. Which he did.

…and there seems no slack in losing that support.

Trump supporters don't care that Trump pursued or at least entertained various channels to overturn the results of the election,

You don’t speak for any Trump supporters. But it would have been nice if the left showed just as much outrage of the ludicrous claims by Nadler and Schiff.

including recruiting alternate electors, seizing voting machines, getting Mike Pence and Congress to invalidate the results, and calling the Georgia Secretary of State to "find" votes for him (i.e., election interference).

Which the left did as well not to mention making sure that Republicans observers stay far away from the visual count as possible.

Trump supporters don't care that Republican members of commerce were on board for all of it.

We care, we just don’t care about theatrics and Dems not willing to broaden the conversation as usual. They want to pick and choose the topics they want to talk about that fits their narrative and it doesn’t go like that. You can’t dismiss and shut out the opposition if you are truly serious about wanting to get to the bottom of this as we all do.

Trump supporters don't care that Trump and the GOP are busy making sure they get it right in 2024.

And neither will the Dems in order to stay in power and this is their fourth attempt and that’s going to fail as well.

This is not democracy.

You see, that's all Trump supporters care about. Winning.

Thats the point, not to lose. Dems are experts in this field

-17 ( +5 / -22 )

With a never-before-seen 12-minute video of extremist groups leading the deadly siege...

I love how the corporate media never fail to insert this lie "deadly." As Stalin's propagandists taught, a lie repeated often enough becomes the truth. Better to inspire hatred for each other among the citizens.

-18 ( +4 / -22 )

Thats the point, not to lose. Dems are experts in this field

Of course candidates want to win, but so the ends justify the means? Is it okay to lie, cheat, and use violence to get what you want? No whataboutism, please.

9 ( +13 / -4 )

People died in it, it was 'deadly'. If this offends you, find a Foxhole safe space
