Indeed Putin is acting like the Kings and tsars of the age of colonialism, and his backers defend his warmongering, territory grabbing ways saying the west did worse. Probably true, but ignores the reality that what Putin is doing now is hideous. The world does seem to be divided now with authoritarian states lumping together and democratic ones likewise doing so, both groups trying to ensure their respective petrochemical industries and aging ruling castes lead the race to further destroy more forms of life on the planet. At least most democratic states still have some ability to choose who their leaders are. Unlike the authoritarian nations, some like Russia stuck until 2036 with Putin, who seems bent on expanding the territory of his Federation in the quest to be the globe's emperor, but will Putin's partner Xi Jinping allow him to take the role the CCP seems to want.

Nice photo, as if Macron is saying, “With this finger I will, will, well, you don’t want to know, but it isn’t very pleasant, OK!”

Good thing that amphibious assault ship deal never went through, eh?

What a blatant hypocrisy from the one not amounting a hill of beans. Look at France actions exerting considerable influence in its former colonies in Sub-Saharan Africa, Indochina... French colonial empire lost everything and now mentally suffering from phantom limb pains vehemently accusing Russia of wrongdoings.

Taking swipe at Russia, Macron says fence sitters need to wake up:
Who is smart Macron to tell fence sitting leaders to wake up?
By accusing Russia of a modern day imperialism that was based on law of the jungle, he is betraying the west of their old day hegemony/colonialism..?

Yeah, look at France. In the post war period its position was somewhat similar to Russia's today. A former imperial power that had suffered a recent humiliation (defeat by Germany in 1940 for France, collapse of USSR for Russia) and was coming to terms with its diminished status internationally. And what did it do? It tried to engage in futile wars in south east Asia and Algeria in a vain attempt to reclaim its place as am imperial power. Much as Russia is doing now.
It lost both. As Russia is doing now.
France moved on after that. Hopefully Russia will wake up and do the same at some point before it completely destroys itself.

The reason that Russia has not been condemned or boycotted by many third world countries (the global south) is not just due to the fact that the erstwhile Soviet Union supported many newly independent countries when they were spurned by the West during the early days of the Cold War.
It’s because the third world sees these accusations of being fence sitters for what they really are - a display of Western hypocrisy.
There are any number of conflicts (some going on as of now) the West didn’t even notice or care about, but now suddenly there is a war that has affected a White country in mainland Europe the West is lecturing the world about democracy.
When the West themselves have supported authoritarians and dictators when they were willing to do the bidding of US, UK etc.

Who was here during the pandemic?
The West has the money and the technology to do a lot more for the third world.
The WHO has been shouting from the rooftops that there is no need of 4th dose and multiple booster shots when a lot of people in the third world have not even received one dose. However their pleas have fallen on deaf ears because all countries mostly prioritise the interests of their citizens over citizens of other countries. Which is fine.
But why cry when the shoe is on the other foot. If third world countries are eager to buy discounted oil and gas from Russia for the benefit of their citizens, why is the West so outraged?
