"StrangerlandDEC. 17, 2014 - 12:40PM JST When the west is going to wake up seeing Islamic doctrine as it is????

"Out of 1.5 billion Muslims, a few thousand are extremists, and you claim the problem is in the doctrine? If that were the case, the majority of Muslims would be extremists."

You grossly underestimate how many extremists there are. "Radicals" are estimated to comprise 15%-25% of Muslims worldwide, and many more are supporters who may not be radical themselves. If the problem is not in the doctrine, where is it then? Extremists are just following the Q'oran literally. All of their atrocities are committed in the name of Islam and Allah.

@JeffLee "Countless millions want Salmon Rusdie and the Danish cartoonist executed. A billion or so pray every Friday for the death and destruction of the infidel non-believers (like you and me). Nope, the 21st world doesn't need this creed."

Strangerland:

" "Out of 1.5 billion Muslims, a few thousand are extremists," "

Alas, opinion poll after opinion poll says differently. Huge percentages of responders in the muslim world continuously suppport extremist positions, including full introduction of Shariah law, death for aposteses, critics, and homosexuals, child marriage, and so on.

For that matter, the ISIS caliphate alone has already attracted tens of thousands of jihadis, so if the "few thousand" claim was right, there would be no Taliban school bombers left...

Apparently they have been losing many new recruits to IS recently, so this is one way for them to attract youngsters back to their ranks. Still life in the old dog yet, etc. (Source, Al Jazeera.)

Some internal/infernal logic to their thought processes.

When the west is going to wake up seeing Islamic doctrine as it is????

Because Islam has not gone through a reformation as Christanity and Judaism has. There are many similar things in the Old Testiment that put prohibitions on people and foods that many don't follow today and are still considered in step with their religion. Even now, the debate on gay marriage and rights. Many Christians are villified for wanting to take a more literal biblical interpretaion on the status of being gay, yet some church's are recognizing gays, and more to the point, when was the last time a group of Christians stormed into a gay establishment and gunned down all that were there?

These extremists are not making this stuff up, just following their religion.

Don´t make the mistake of judging them from our value system.

In what value system is it allowed to go into a school and gun down kids just because their parents work for the government or in response that girls should not be educated? It's a matter of basic humanity. I get that we all can't get along and there will be differences between civilizations. But to murder just because you are protesting that some girl won a Nobel Peace Prize is backwards, and no justification for it.

Sort of puts our everyday problems into perspective if you think about the nightmare a lot of these people suffer through each day..

All in the name of Islam! Hostages taking, beheading, killing children...since Allah favors Jihadists the most, according to Koran. Muslim has been waging war to conquer since Mohammad accompanied Jihadists to Medina. If Muslims can do this against Muslims, not just between Sunni and Shiite; the Infidel should wake up before it is too late. As stated, this kind of menace will be the headlines in years to come. When the west is going to wake up seeing Islamic doctrine as it is????

Alphaape:

" Never understood these backwards types. "

They are not "backwards" from their perspective. They believe they follow gods commands. The same in Boko Haram in Nigeria: ("Boko" means western education). Don´t make the mistake of judging them from our value system.

This is a case of Muslim on Muslim killing. Yet, the people in this area and the rest of the world will get upset with the USA for doing nothing more than playing loud music and roughing up suspects who follow this particular religion who slaughtered their own kind.

Time for people to wake up and understand the threats we (the rest of the civilized world) is facing with the Taliban/ISIS extremists.

Taliban assault on Pakistan school leaves 141 dead

This was another horrible crime committed by psychopaths against the innocent. Those men who committed this heinous crime out of hate and for no other reason. I hope this stays fresh in everyone's minds and those victims aren't forgotten.

But, knowing how the world is really like I suspect that in three weeks from now only a handful of people will even remember this attack and those poor victims. The less the media reports it the less people will remember and care. In under a month most will be sitting around watching some reality show without a worry or a care in the world.

But, I hope that the world and the readers here prove me wrong.

This really is a benighted part of the world - and I know it is not linked but it does give the lie to the value of Nobel Peace prizes and the like in these warzones. Probably motivated by a speech claiming that all kids (specially girls) have a right to education.

Just as I predicted... that is the real-world response to the fluffy feel-good speech at the Nobel Price party.

Read another story about this event that it was in response to the young girl getting the Nobel Peace Prize and their beliefs that girls should not be educated. Never understood these backwards types.

Terrible, atrocious, despicable, cowardly... These words seem mild considering these circumstances. No words could accurately describe this event.

If anything positive occurs from this... Hopefully Pakistan can band together as a country and wipe these extremists from the face of the earth.

Incidents like this are almost inevitable in countries unable to curb the growth of private armies and militias. All it takes is a few dozen fanatics armed with AK47s, and havoc ensues.

I heard on the radio that incoming reports said that the attackers were speaking Arabic, instead of the local Pakistan languages.

Barbaric attack on little kids by merciless cowards.
