Does the world really want to give Pakistan $5 billion, in view of the Taliban's imminent takeover of the country?

Good progress by Taliban and its time for the USA/UN to recognize this new name for Pakistan and arrange fresh monetary aid to new regime.

nuke that area

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Sooner or later the west is going to have to give up on Pakistan's psudo-cooperation and deem it an enemy. Given the fact that they are nuclear will also call for more extreme measures. It's like dealing with a crazed child waving a gun. Eventually you have to decide if the child is too much of a danger to everyone and the only solution is to shoot them.

Got to apply to them the same tactics they used when they forced christians to convert to Islam: convert or die. But this time in reverse: desist or die. This is worse than a tumorous cancer: spreads and it is lethal.

Rewarding the criminal for doing bad. Not a good idea.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Why on earth has the world ever seen Pakistan as an 'ally' in the war on terror?? Very soon we're going to see it run by the Taliban, and with NUCLEAR WEAPONS!

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Ever since Obama announced his new 'strategy' for Afghanistan, things have been going down hill. I Hope Gen. Petreus can overcome the handicap of having such an amateur as his Commander-in-Chief.

Iran is getting closer to having NUKES. N. korea is getting closer to NUKE launching capability. Pakistan is expected (by experts) by be under COMPLETE Islamic control in five or ten years.

And we got some guy in the white house that wants to smile and shake everybody's hand and open a "dialogue."

ISLAM HATES THE WEST. No dialogue will reduce this hate. They will soon have nukes that they can easily deliver to their enemies. These are people that cut peoples heads off on the internet, and believe it is their god given duty to kill non believers.

When will the foolish west wake up and see this for the real and present danger that it is?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

The Taliban will take over Pakistan. This is a bloody disaster. Ousting President Musharraf for democracy (corrupt and incompetent clowns) was a huge mistake. The Taliban do not fear retaliation, it is the worst enemy and biggest threat to humanity.

Time to get tough

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Very soon we're going to see it run by the Taliban, and with NUCLEAR WEAPONS!" The first thing I see today. That is one scary thought. I can't help thinking about the one Taliban who shot a RPG at a lion at a zoo. Hope is isn't going to be working around those nukes.

When will the foolish west wake up and see this for the real and present danger that it is?" They won't!

Time to get tough" Not allowed to. We will be condemned.

Pakistan is expected (by experts) by be under COMPLETE Islamic control in five or ten years." An Germany in 25. I guess its time we convert.

And we are giving them special rights in the West. Time to be real.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

And we are giving them special rights in the West" Like what? Are you talking about the multiple wives?

This is why Islamic countries must NEVER be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

that it may be just the first domino in nuclear-armed Pakistan to fall to the Taliban

Islamists may have concluded from the Swat deal that authorities will cave in to violent demands for Islamic law elsewhere

Gee, ya think?

Now that these whackjobs have been appeased and rewarded for their brutal behavior, they wont stop at the border of Pakistan. When they have the nukes, don't think for a minute that they wont threaten the world unless we all submit to sharia law. All of you who love to appologize for the murderious islamist thugs, what will it take? A mushroom cloud in your back yard, or just your head in a basket?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I wrote this about the issue on Feb 19th 2009 on JT.

"Taliban forces quickly cut through the Swat region shooting innocents and beheading the opposition. Now, as a reward, they get what they want; a license do continue doing the same with impunity... in the name of God.

And what did the Pakistani govt get in return for negotiating? Nothing. This kind of appeasement resulted in Adolf Hitler's WW2 march across Europe. Make no mistake, the Taliban will not stop until they have toppled the Pakistani Govt. Af-Pak will then become the epicenter of WW3, as the conflict boils over into India/Kashmir".

These rabid dogs must be stopped!

Then they will set up the abomination that causes desolation.

Sure, the Taliban rule by human fear, and tell people that it is the fear of God. They are racist. They are ignorant. They are blind zealots. They are brutal bullies. They are thieves. They are nosey snoopers. Thay are propogandists. All of this in the name of an ideal. Not a human ideal, and not Godly either. They force their own version of Islam on people who are already practicing Islam in one form or another, but actually in their hearts they are cynical politicians and warmongers. Despite showing everyone how Islamic they are, ('wearing their religion on their sleeve') they have failed in the most important mission: to tell God/Allah about it. This is the greatest danger for them. From their actions so far it seems they have no knowledge of Allah.

OK, fine, but what about their good side?

Wolfpack: "Ever since Obama announced his new 'strategy' for Afghanistan, things have been going down hill. I Hope Gen. Petreus can overcome the handicap of having such an amateur as his Commander-in-Chief."

The Taliban were not overcome because bush and co. decided to quit the job less than half way and go on a whimsical adventure in Iraq, diverting the resources necessary to completely obliterate the Taliban -- or at least keep them from doing what they are doing now. This is 100% the fault of both the former US government's policies in the area, and Pakistan's current lack of government. Obama is diverting troops and money back from the folly of Iraq to combat what's happening, but as is plain as day, it's too late and should have been done years ago (ie. Iraq never should have been invaded and the focus of the 'war on terror' should have remained in and directly around Afghanistan).

You made the bed, as they say.... fortunately you have Obama TRYING to remake it for you correctly. With Pakistan the way it is, though, it looks like we might be preparing for a new front.

Helter_Skelter: "This is why Islamic countries must NEVER be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons."

No. Pakistan has had them for a while without any major incident. This is why TERRORISTS should not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons. The result would be no different if terrorists took over the US and had the weapons. I know you like to think all of the Muslim world is terrorist, but that's not the way it is.

Who brought Pakistan into existence?

America?

Nope.

And we are giving them special rights in the West" Like what? Are you talking about the multiple wives?

In the UK at least, certain areas of Muslim life are indeed dealt with NOW in Sharia courts. Thus a UK Muslim can have 4 wives. More importantly, he can treat them as inferiors (since the Koran says that 'men are the keepers of women' and he can even beat them with impunity (Koran 4:34). And what's more, the UK then bans a Dutch MP who protests against this.

With all this Islamification going on in the west, it's not surprising that the Taleban is rampant in Pakistan. It seems inevitable that the Taleban will gain control of Pakistan's nuclear arsenal and present the non-Islamic world (starting with India) with the very REAL threat of nuclear attack. Even the most PC of dhimmi PC ostriches must be able to see this now. Likewise, the warmongers Bush and Blair must be slapping their dense foreheads and yelling 'doh - why didn't we READ THE KORAN before deciding to attack Muslims lands??' Then they might have realised that attacking a Muslim land is a de facto attack upon Islam (in the Koran's view), giving the jihadists all the justification they need to redouble their efforts.

Is it too late to bring back Musharraf? That wasn't such a good call by George W. Bush was it? It seems to me that his administration didn't have a very good understanding of the situation. I guess within a year or 2 we can expect nukes to fly on over to TelAviv.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

You guys should quit being so afraid of Islam and just submit.

Im thinking about it cuz I hear you get 4 wives, which is great for me because I dont even have one now.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I think it is necessary to destroy Islam. We are doing a good job at destroying Christianity, but we must work the 2 in parallel. End religion to save the world.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Except if we have to leave just one, let`s leave the one where we get 4 wives. How can you be against that?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

will pakistan become like afghanistan?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

End religion to save the world

Yeah, those Buddhists really threaten the world with their rabid messages of peace, love, tolerance and inner reflection!

Here we are in the 21C, and there's only one major religion which overtly preaches violence as one of its core values.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Will Pakistan become like Afganistan? I doubt it, India will nuke them if it even looks like Taliban is getting control.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

No. Pakistan has had them for a while without any major incident.

Smith, what are talking about? Pakistan's first nuclear test was only ten years ago, and already there's a potential crisis with Muslim extremists taking over. And this could happen in any Islamic nation, where sectarian conflicts are commonplace. This just proves what I've been saying all along, that Islamic countries must NEVER be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons. I understand that socialism requires you to support Islam and other non-JudeoChristian religions, but certainly even you can see how clear this is.

Sorry, I must have missed the US invasion of Pakistan. When did it happen?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

It's just hard to believe that these people can actually gain ground when the average Pakistani citizen in those areas does not support them. In the end, I would imagine it's going to be pretty tough for them to get their hands on nukes. Even a whiff of the Taliban getting access to nukes would cause the US and Iran to suddenly become #1 allies overnight, not to mention India and Pakistan. And Europe, Russia, China, and just about every other nation on earth.

Taliban came to prominence in the 90's.

When Bush was governor of Texas.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

It is OK for you JudeoChristian apologists to always point fingers but the main point is Nukes. If the pope had them some hundreds of years ago he would have used it, but they had to use sword and fire. Now the barbarians are the Talibanian-Muslims, and they could have nukes. We must destroy them, and we must hold George W. Bush accountable for all this mess.

SuperLib: "Sorry, I must have missed the US invasion of Pakistan. When did it happen?"

FYI there was no invasion of Pakistan. I'm quite surprised you didn't know that. There was, however, an invasion and 'regime change' in Afghanistan, from which many Taliban fled and searched for safe haven in other countries, and were allowed to when not pursued due to the shift of focus on Iraq. Since then they have gained more support for their cause, due in large part to the debacle of Iraq, again, and have regrouped and were allowed recently to reign in areas of 'allied' Pakistan.

teleprompter: "Taliban came to prominence in the 90's. When Bush was governor of Texas."

Thanks, professor. Now do tell me under which US president Afghanistan was invaded and the Taliban 'overthrown'. And... ummm... who again made Pakistan an ally in the war on terror?

You'll notice in my post, which you quoted, I did say 'overcome'. Were they also overcome when bush was Texas governor?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I think you're underestimating the existence of the Taliban in Pakistan before and after the invasion. Naturally some members will flee, but unless you want to someone seal off the entire border, something that's not possible with or without Bush's attention, there will be some crossing. And at the time strikes in Pakistan were not permitted.

Wow. That reads like something a 'neo-con' would come here with.

Lemme check - Militant Islamofascism is transnational.

There are evidently huge numbers of 'holy warriors', drawn from around the world to Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The topography of the region in question and the logistics of carrying on a war against the gov'ts of Afghanistan, Pakistan, the US and its NATO allies means AQ and the Taliban must have financial support from far, far beyond Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Heh. Don't let Helter or willib in on this. :)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Pakistan doesn't need financial aid to get no-where, they need military support, educational support, etc. It is the Pakistani governments fault for handing over Swat to the Taliban in the first place. "Give them an inch and they'll take a mile" is an understatement in this situation.

This has 3 possible outcomes in my book. 1)They get outside help and re-stablize the region. 2)Taliban wins and may end up starting WWIII. 3)India or some other nervous country invades Pakistan (after the Taliban change its name) and gets ridiculed by the rest of the islamic world for invading and occupation of a country that doesn't belong to them.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

In the end I'm betting that the invasion caused more people in Pakistan to enter Afghanistan than the other way around.

For me, that outcome that I see is a military operation involving NATO and Pakistan in the region.
