How many diplomatic talks, agreements and treaties has the US undiplomatically backed out on over the past 5 administrations?? Are too numerous to count.

Every US President and State Dept since I have been paying attention seem to have this irresponsible delusion that nothing can be accomplished without the US being involved. Yet all I see is a mess created in the favor of the US.

Moscow has twice this year hosted meetings between the Taliban and prominent Afghan personalities.

So, personalities is the new word for politicians. Hopefully that word will be used in politics here soon too!

Taliban wanted the agreement signed and witnessed by foreign ministers of several countries, including Russia.

Afghanistan's rich in oil, gas and a variety of minerals, and its geographic location makes it vitally important for their shipment.

I find the Taliban repulsive. But at least they're Afghanis fighting for if not the state as a whole at least some tribes and regions.

I find it even more repulsive that the US and other 'western' states, Russia, India, Iran or China have any military related involvement in Afghanistan. Or any other sovereign state for that matter. Even if they're 'invited guests'.

The question I have to ask is whether Putin's been involved in trying to influence Trump; It certainly wouldn't be the first time.

This is the sole issue with which I agree with Trump: Get out. If Russia is foolish enough to involve themselves and the Taliban foolish enough to trust them, so be it. But 2019 is not 2001. America does not need boots on the ground to defend iteslf - in fact, it simply aggrevates the situation.

The article says that one Taliban faction wants to negotiate peace, and that another faction is against negotiating peace. Perhaps, before negotiations can take place, the Taliban need to decide whether nor not they are interested in negotiations? Otherwise, the faction opposed to talks will continue to explode bombs.

Trump, Putin the Taliban, etc. Why should the world's dumbest and most wicked people get to decide the fate of the world?

Probably the Taliban and the Russians will reminisce over when the Taliban, known in the 1980s as the mujahideen, kicked the Russians' butts with the CIA's help giving them surface to air missiles, etc.
