Islamists see progress as something negative.

This has nothing to do with religion and everything to do with lack of respect for women, lack of education on equality and basic human rights and a extreme lack of restraint from basic male urges that most of the world has understood and enacted in law.

In other words these people are throwbacks to a less civilized time in humanities timeline. Barbarians with AK-47's instead of the clubs they would otherwise carry to beat women into submission.

That ship sailed and if we were to go back, we would be fighting a well armed Taliban using some of the best technology in the world. They got everything they wanted and sadly and as badly planned this pullout was, nothing we can do. Just pray and hope for the best, if they can survive and escape during the winter into the mountains and trying to get out that way might be an option, but it’s a risky and dangerous one.

@Flute I think you do not understand my simple hypothetical. To make it easy, there are dress codes at beaches in the US requiring women to cover up certain body parts. And since you bring up government, those dress codes are promulgated by governments. And governments in the US certainly can make rules for private universities. For example, the Americans with Disability Act applies to private universities. And you are wrong about swimsuit dress codes not regarding gender. They do, which is why men do not have to wear bikini tops. See? You try to discredit my argument in bad faith, but your own explanation support my statements. Mask mandates by laws in the US, or face coverings by Taliban-- really one in the same.
