Taliban pledge violent campaign

Somehow I didn't expect a sit-in from the Taliban.

“We once again call on all of our countrymen to keep away from electoral offices, voting booths, rallies and campaigns so that may Allah forbid, their lives are not put into danger,” the Taliban said."

Hey Taliban - Allah forbids you to put your countrymen's lives in danger by mounting a violent campaign to disrupt the elections. Didn't you know that?

“It is the religious obligation of every Afghan to fulfil their duty by foiling the latest plot of the invaders that is guised in the garb of elections.”

Since any form of freedom is anathema to these Islamic extremists, is that any surprise? They'd prefer to remain in the Dark Ages.

" NATO combat troops will withdraw from the country by the end of 2014 after 13 years of fighting a fierce Islamist insurgency that erupted when the Taliban were ousted from power after the 9/11 attacks on the United States."

How many of the alleged 9-11 terrorists were Afghans again?

Heaven forbid that the people actually have a say in their government, right?

Democracy is un-islamic, so the talibans are correct as far as that goes. However, since Afghanistan is already a Shariah state and the population inevitably votes itself to ever more Shariah, I wonder what exactly their beef is.

The only crazy aspect of this is that Western nations continue to pour enormous amounts of ressources into this black hole.
