" "The Taliban will get its Shariah state in Afghanistan" On Barack Obama's watch? "

Ask your fortune teller. I don´t know how long he will drag it out and/ put lipstick on it. But they will get it.

Most likely Afganistan will be split into Taliban-control Pushtunistan and the rest controlled by the Northern Alliance. Taliban can do whatever want in their part as long as they don't let Al-Qaeda guys in. NATO and US will still keep some of their bases in the other part to keep Taliban on a short leash.

The Taliban will get its Shariah state in Afghanistan, and all the Western lives and ressources will have been sacrificed for nothing. Stupidity rules.

Anything less is a total waste of lives for those who died trying to defeat the Taliban.

Not true, if you can get key concessions from the Taliban you can still honor those who died trying to defeat the Taliban.

Are they all crazy??? Our preconditions are unconditional surrender by the Taliban. Then peace talks can proceed. Anything less is a total waste of lives for those who died trying to defeat the Taliban.

Pakistan, which wields considerable influence among the insurgents, has its own set of conditions, including a role in a post-NATO Afghanistan and limits on influence there by its archrival India.**AHH, yes! All of this mess with Pakistan is because they want to out smart INDIA?? And we are supposed to feel sorry for all the Pakistani flood victims but then send in drones to blow up the ones who are preparing to attack the UK and France now??

The latest Woodward book on Obama paints the pic of a president who can't wait to get out of Afghanistan, of a whiny schemer at odds with his military advisers. And the Taliban know it.
