Why are the Taliban, who were the legitimate govt until USA illegally invaded and slaughtered, called insurgents, but the US installed govt is not called a puppet govt?

The Taliban was never the legitimate government by any stretch of the imagination. No country besides Pakistan (and I think one or two Gulf states) recognised them as the legitimate government after they declared their Islamic state in 1996. International recognition by other states is the only thing that gives a government its legitimacy. Since the West removed the Taliban, Afghanistan has had 3 presidential and 2 parliamentary elections. The majority of countries (perhaps even all?) recognise the Afghan government as legitimate. In what way are they a puppet? Do you remember how anti-American Hamid Karzai turned out to be? Not exactly what I would call a US puppet.
