So much for airport security. It could easily have been a bomb. Remote detonation and possibly shower a San Jose suburb with jet-n-parts and kill all onboard.

I am glad the Boy is fine, Very fortunate to survive.

Very lucky.

I wonder if he will get to see Hawaii or if he will only see the inside of a detention center.

His problems back home are not going to get any better after this stunt.

Wheel wells are not pressurized, nor are they heated. At sea level, the oxygen percentage of air is at 21.9%. The percentage of oxygen at 12,000 feet (where hypoxia symptoms start) is around 13.2%. At 38,000 feet, the air only has around 4% oxygen content . The reason everyone doesn't die on the plane is because aircraft at cruise altitude generally pressurize the aircraft cabin to the equivalent of around 8,000 feet of altitude.

I think the only reason this kid survived is because the hypothermia he suffered acted as a mitigating factor for the damage caused by the hypoxia. You'll note the article doesn't say he "survived without injury", only that he "survived". At the very least I would expect some amount of brain damage.

Very sad case, this lad must be going through some intense stuff at home form him to want to put himself through this, I only hope that he is given the help and assistance he deserves.
