said the investigation was focused on a lack of moderators on Telegram

???

Huh...

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

Democracy and Freedom !!!

But if your website doesn't have moderators you get arrested.

No alternatives to mainstream Big Tech allowed!

Good to see a network that promotes unlawful behaviour getting scrutiny. Next maybe we can look at Twitter and the election interference of its owner.

Telegram CEO Durov's crime was refusing to censor the truth.

Durov's Telegram was nothing but (just a reminder of what he will most definitely be charged with):

"Among the possible charges: terrorism, drugs, complicity, fraud, money laundering, obtaining stolen goods, pedophile content, etc."

"The businessman was wanted, an arrest warrant from the National Directorate of the French Criminal Police was issued on the basis of a preliminary investigation."

I remember arguing with a certain TSMC super-fan maybe a year ago over the distinctions between American style democracy and that of the French. I was told that the US is the land of fanatical "Christian Nationalism" whereas France is all about "Liberté, égalité, fraternité".

More and more, day by day, we are seeing what an absolute disaster France is, especially under Macron.

Alt-tech has proven to be vital in the fight against censorship from the elites. I hope for the continued survival of the Telegram platform and its leader.

Elon Musk has stepped up censorship on Twitter.

Absolute control of information is what the totalitarian governments want.

Womp Womp.

He allowed illegal activity to be conducted on his platform with full knowledge.

The only question is how he could be so stupidly arrogant to assume the law didn’t apply to him and land inside France’s jurisdiction.

So, the west goes on about lack of freedom in Russia, the Russian government would like to shut telegram down and the western governments would love to shut both telegram and X down.

So it seems both sides are in favour of only what they want the people to know.

Remember it doesn't matter if it is left or right, the side that wants to control freedom of speech regardless if fact, lies, offensive, etc... is the danger.

Russia is at this moment fighting for the release of Durov.

And welcome to the new Soviet Union and Nazi Germany of the 21st century where the governments tell you what you can and cannot say or think.

The French government kidnapped Durov. This is quite similar to the US kidnapping of Huawei's Meng. Essentially the US and the G7 lapdogs assert their right to arrest any business person in the world on fabricated charges.

-5 ( +2 / -7 )

The Soviet Red Army defeated Nazi Germany while the French government was collaborating with the German occupiers.

It is ridiculous to bring the Soviet Union into this discussion. It is quite obvious that the French government is telling you "what you can and cannot say or think". And the US government is silent, while the Russian government is defending Durov and demanding his release.

Europe seems to have turned into a total cess pool recently, or at least that is the impression I’m given recently based on these criticisms of communication platforms.

Free speech is one of the precious things that we “in the west” value, is it not?

When did this change, cos I missed that memo…

Yes, it should read Russia instead. Where criticizing their war (or even calling it a war) is cause for arrest.

It is ridiculous to bring the Soviet Union into this discussion.

Mikhail Zhukhovitsky, financial blogger. Here are several excerpts from his blogs that one cannot disagree with.

"There is nothing to help Pavel anymore. Pavel's arrest is not the beginning of the process. This is the result of the long-term work of a large number of specialists in the USA.

I (Mikhail) personally, with my own eyes, saw the charges in the trials. They are not prepared by Interpol and Europol. They were prepared by the USA. France is just a place to stay and wait. Interpol headquarters is located there. And local authorities and law enforcement agencies are a repeater of the United States.

The chronology of other cases shows that after the first arrest, then always, without exception, there are arrests of teams. Those team members who made the decision to urgently fly to the Russian Federation – their fate turned out well.

Others, who decided to defend themselves in the West, had bad fates.

And do not build illusions that the UAE is a neutral zone."

Antiquesaving:

And in other recent news, British journalist Richard Medhurst was arrested at Heathrow and detained for 24 hours. His crime? Most probably telling the truth about Palestine, but he was never told the reason. This follows the arrest of other journalists in UK and the rest of Europe. When the West accuses countries like China of being 'authoritarian', well, you know what they say? Every accusation is a confession.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

Once again the pathetic efforts of the West to stop freedom of expression when it does not suit them..

Telegram is one of the few platforms that show the truth of how Russia is defeating the kyiv regime and the ethnic massacre of the Zionist regime in Gaza, things that the West does not like the world to know..
