Texas! 2nd amendment rights! Responsible gun ownership!
Wait... scratch that last one. I'm pretty sure this is an example of a legal licensed gun owner this time. Why shouldn't he/she just leave a firearm sitting somewhere where the kids can get their hands on it?

The firearm owners need some jail time.
Whoever didn't lock up the firearm, didn't use a $20 trigger lock and didn't lock up the ammunition in a separate location are responsible, though by 12, the boy should have known better.
A 12 yr old boy in rural Texas (Conroe is on the edge of suburban Houston) should have been trained in firearm safety if they kept firearms in the house. Or did he just decide to kill his annoying little brother?
The lack of details about the firearm are frustrating.
Was it found elsewhere?
Was it owned by the parents?
Was it a shotgun, rifle, handgun?
