But you are right there are people like Perry and the American Family Association and leaders of the Christian Restoration Movement, who interpret old parables very selectively and conclude that their mission is persecute gay people, not feed the hungry or love their neighbor, but torture people, they hate people. Your perspective is reflective of an ongoing dialogue in the country of expanding waistlines, and it is fair to point out that Savage, and left-leaning pundits fuel the right-wing's furnace. Bachman and Perry are both very savvy politicians and capitalize on the kind of sentiments that you express.

At the same time, right-wing pundits -- and there representatives -- could easily win the next election by taking a page out of Clinton's black book and embrace the middle. Maybe not completely, but can't you think of a more clever way to galvanize the right than dehumanizing people on the left?

I've been looking over Governor Perry's record. Pretty darn impressive on the economic front. Have of all job creation in the entire nation during the past three years has been in Texas. It blows away anything President Obama has managed to accomplished. Unfortunately, he is also going to the full Palin treatment from the media if he gains real traction now that he is in. They are not going to promote his actual record and will start the dirt hunt. I hope he's ready for that and understands that the Media is not going to be his friend in anyway shape or form. I also think if he does start to catch fire based on his record in Texas the next couple of weeks, Palin will not make a run after all. His overall economic and tax policies along with regulation reform to promote job creation that he has implemented in Texas, pretty much mirrors her policies and positions and I think now that he is in the race she will not feel the need to throw her hat in the ring. I believe she will start working behind the scenes on throwing her support behind him.

Perry will likely be the nominee (to my horror). A sizeable portion of Americans are looking for a strong-jawed cowboy type who will spout the usual clichés about big government, taxes, WASP "values" and the God & USA partnership. It will not matter to his supporters that most of the jobs created under his tenure are minimum wage fast food or Walmart jobs. The middle and lower classes are being conned by these teabag candidates and their backers (e.g. Rove, the Fox media machine, etc.) into believing that making the rich richer will trickle down to them. So it appears that Barack Obama's Republican opponent in 2012 is going to be a parochial, red state, know-nothing who says and does whatever Grover Norquist tells him/her to say and do (if you don't know Norquist, you should; he is the unelected Rasputin of the US Republican Party). People resonate with women like Bachmann because she reflects the kind of industrious women that they know in their communities.
