I will not stand idly by while our citizens are under assault and little children from Central America are detained in squalor.

Not sure what Perry means by claiming US citizens are under assault, but I am quite clear an what he means when he claims to have compassion for these kids: He's running for president, so he has to speak out of both sides of his mouth.

$12 million per month for simply "referring and deterring” - nice use of taxpayer's money, Perry.

0 ( +5 / -5 )

Perry is a fool, and he's proving it again.

-2 ( +5 / -7 )

Jeez, smith, could you take care of the situation on the Tex-Mex border and stop these illegals so that Perry can cancel the national Guard deployment? Thanks.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Smith and Laguna, both have taken the words right out of my mouth! This idiot fool PERRY would be the worst thing that could happen to the USA, if heaven forbid, he ever became US PRESIDENT! And yes, he is putting on that REPUBLICAN SPIN on the whole mess with the Centralsl American kids, it is a HUMANITARIAN DISASTER!! The USA is one of the richest countries in the world and giving BILLIONS OF $$$ to crap holes like Israel and Egypt every year?? While the USA can not even help or DOES NOT CARE about giving aid, food, etc...to its POOREST NEIGHBORS?? And Americans are surprised when CUBANS, Chavistas from Venezuela, Chinese, Russians dare to INVEST in places like NICARAGUA?? Keep IGNORNING the poorest, hungriest neighbors in LATIN AMERICA and do not be surprised they turn to others for food and economic aid!! How can the USA blow the hell out Iraq, build back up with a few EXTRA BILLION $$$ but NO $$$ for poor banana republics like Honduras and El Salvador???

-4 ( +3 / -7 )

Serrano: the economy is a far bigger problem, as is human rights violations, and Perry wants to dramatically increase both by demanding the government pay $12M a month for his pet project of sending armed thugs to 'police' things. And his 'care for the children' bit is a joke in light of what he's proposing. Onc again, he's an idiot.

-1 ( +3 / -4 )

It's around 1500 miles from Honduras to Texas, by land .... by the time they get to the Texas border, they're economic refugees. They could've stopped lots of places before they got to Texas.

@Elbuda Mexicano, the money spent on Israel, Egypt, etc. is defense funding, even if it's budgeted as foreign aid. Shoring up outposts overseas keeps the volatile situation around the outputs, and away from the homeland. Like putting a lightning rod on your house.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

The next time Perry runs for president, can he please hire an aide in charge of helping drill him on which government agencies he wants to shut down. Otherwise, he is going to say something stupid like "Close the CDC, FDIC, and...um...the VA?"

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

@laguna

Not sure what Perry means by claiming US citizens are under assault, but I am quite clear an what he means when he claims to have compassion for these kids: He's running for president, so he has to speak out of both sides of his mouth.

The border being open for one, NOT only do we have people coming in from El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala, but there are reports of Indian, Pakistani and other people trying to get in via Mexico, which means a crazy Jihadist could do the same, these illegals jump ahead of everyone else, get an immigration lawyer, get FREE healthcare courtesy of the US tax payer, a place to stay and the feds are trying to pawn these kids all over the country and is also giving people up to $6,000 a month to house and cloth these aliens, yet we can't feed our own homeless? YES, the citizens are under assault, the very sovereignty to say the least.

$12 million per month for simply "referring and deterring” - nice use of taxpayer's money, Perry.

Don't even start! That's a drop in the bucket compared to what the president has been doing, which is NOTHING for the border, but everything to drive up the national debt. Tell me, did he ever mention about the $ 17 Trillion??

@smith

Perry is a fool, and he's proving it again.

He's a fool that is at least taking some action, how about his majesty, you know, the smart constitutional law road scholar?

the economy is a far bigger problem, as is human rights violations, and Perry wants to dramatically increase both by demanding the government pay $12M a month for his pet project of sending armed thugs to 'police' things.

Yup, since the president won't! By the way, whatever happened with that 3.7 Billion the president was supposed to get??

And his 'care for the children' bit is a joke in light of what he's proposing. Onc again, he's an idiot.

Hey, the anointed one didn't even bother to go to the border and how has he helped the kids, but putting AMERICAN citizens in a social bind and economic and physical hardship! Where is it that this joke of a president cares, where is the proof? He WON'T shut the border down, he won't get aggressive with these illegal aliens! At least Perry is TRYING, which the president sadly is NOT.

@El

Smith and Laguna, both have taken the words right out of my mouth! This idiot fool PERRY would be the worst thing that could happen to the USA, if heaven forbid, he ever became US PRESIDENT!

Why? Because he would seal the border finally. That would be so, so very bad.

And yes, he is putting on that REPUBLICAN SPIN on the whole mess with the Centralsl American kids, it is a HUMANITARIAN DISASTER!!

So why wasn't Obama stern with these countries leaders and leading by example by sending these kids back? Mexico wouldn't take them, they just pawned them off and sent them here.

The USA is one of the richest countries in the world and giving BILLIONS OF $$$ to crap holes like Israel and Egypt every year??

Of course, they are our biggest allies in the Middle East. Israel has been very instrumental in helping us against the war on terror and helping us root out a lot of Jihadists, the same goes for Egypt. We give Billions to Mexico and other Central American nations and what do they do, stab us in the back, by allowing people with known diseases enter into our country, illegally.

While the USA can not even help or DOES NOT CARE about giving aid, food, etc...to its POOREST NEIGHBORS??

We do, which pisses me off and that we don't do enough for our OWN people is an abomination and disgraceful, not to mention shameful!

And Americans are surprised when CUBANS, Chavistas from Venezuela, Chinese, Russians dare to INVEST in places like NICARAGUA??

You just mentioned Communist nations, come on now, El.....

What NONSENSE!!! Do you know how much money the US gave Latin America in 2012??? A total of $250,774,031 (that also includes the Caribbean) Seriously, I sometimes don't get you.

The aid was broken down in the following manner: Economic Child Survival and Health: $82,465 Development Assistance: $47,477,938 Economic Support Fund/Security Support Assistance: $532,238 Global Health and Child Survival: $7,177,957 Migration and Refugee Assistance: $43,300,000 Narcotics Control: $1,351,227 Nonproliferation, Anti-Terrorism, Demining and Related: $260,000 Other Active Grant Programs: $13,123,689 Other State Assistance: $6,642,615 Other USAID Assistance: $11,837,051 Other USDA Assistance: $291,781 Voluntary Contributions to Multilateral Organizations, Total: $118,862,000

If Latin America can't take care of their own problems with all this money that we throw at them, that's THEIR problem! We can only do so much, but you just can't come in because you don't like the politics of your country. Take some initiative or live with the results. The US has done WAY more than enough. Good on Perry for finally having the guts for attempting to do the right thing.

-4 ( +4 / -8 )

A LOT of Latin America's problems are fuelled by the USA's drugs habits. Think about it. Connections. A lot of Latin America's problems are fuelled by the USA's arms industry. Think about it. Connections.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

A statistic I read recently notes that the net amount of undocumented aliens residing in the US (i.e. the difference between those entering and those deported) during the eight years of Bush's presidency increased by 3,000,000 but have increased by zero during Obama's term. Still, don't let facts get in your way of making some sort of $12 million monthly grand statement.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

True, but under Obama NOW we have over 90,000 and once their parents come, that'll get to around 200,000 and add to that other Latin countries trying to get in and people from other countries other than Latin America, still by the end of his presidency, he'll easily break Bush's record and probably even before that. But the real facts are, Obama has been derelict when it comes to securing the border and Perry is stepping up to the plate.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Perry is known to be empty headed, but he likes guns and prayers. Perfect for the a Republican Party.

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

I have friends who live near the border in both Texas and Arizona. They say it is really scary down there ... and around their homes. They say border crossers could be nearby at any time ...

3 ( +6 / -3 )

Just 1000.? It will be like try to avoid sunlight reaching the growing with a net :)

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Both Farmboy! The resources are beeing used to care for the children instead of proper boarder control. As Bass mentions the crossing allows any and all through. Documented drug dealers, MI6 gang members, criminal refugees, as well as any other undesirable types you wish to imagine.

This may be partially politically motivated but it certainly is needed. Obama is doing nothing, I give Perry kudos for stepping up to the plate. It is a mess, local US citizens feel threatened.

The honorable Harry Reid claims the "the border is secure", liar! Many prominent democrats refer to the recent immigrants as "refugees". They are not!

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Obama is doing nothing,

Wait, I don't get it. For you GOP fringers either Obama is doing too much with his 'pen and phone', or he's doing nothing. Either he's a fascist dictator or an ineffectual community organizer. You can't have it both ways.

One thing that is consistent: Perry is just as dumb with or without his glasses.

-1 ( +4 / -5 )

Obama is doing nothing

MarkG, what part of "zero net illegal immigration" do you not understand?

This may be partially politically motivated but it certainly is needed.

Not "maybe" - certainly. Concretely, what do you expect that these Guards will do for their $12,000,000 month payroll that the border patrol is not already doing?

It is a mess, local US citizens feel threatened.

From what I've heard, border residents feel more threatened by the ubiquitous inland checkpoints than by illegal immigrants.

The icing on the cake, though, is that Perry has petitioned Washington to pick up the tab for this blatantly political move. So much for "state sovereignty".

0 ( +3 / -3 )

@Laguna and Elbuda Mexicano!!!

Sorry we americans are tired of footing the bill for anchor babies! We have a system where if you want to immigrate to this country you apply through the proper channels, not just say you want to come here and work and then drop off babies after babies which over crowd the schools. Teachers have to take up more time teaching Jose to read because he can't understand English where Johnny gets neglected in class. If you go to the hospitals the emergency rooms are full, post offices are full. Yes America is being invaded!!! Any other foreigner who comes to the US to go to college has to pay out of state tuition, but not Mexicans or those who say they are dreamers, they can go to any college in any state and only pay in state tuition! Wait not pay but get free money to go where as I have to pay $64,000 per year for my daughter to go to Stanford where as her classmate Lidya gets free tuition room and board and books pay for by American tax pay. I can go on an on, in the future the same people who got the handouts will have an advantage of American born kids who parents can't afford to pay for their children to go to college and I am sure those same privileged kids who got handout free tax payer money will be saying. My parents came here and worked their butts off I didn't understand English American kids have been here all their lives what did they do, they should have taken advantage of what America had to offer. Little did they know they stole the dream. Living in America for many American is not an American dream its an American NIGHMARE because our children's future is being quietly stolen by those who come here saying they want a better life I say protest in your country don't bring your crime and try to change the way of life in another country. All other nationalities assimilated, Japanese, Koreans, Chinese but hispanics NO they expected to jump in front of the line and demand citizenship when there are people who have waited for years!! With that said Laguna and Elbuda Mexicano there is more to be said and I can understand your position because of your names.

1 ( +4 / -3 )

kaimycahl,

I understand your feelings. I do not advocate illegal immigration. My only concern in this particular case is that the National Guard has no business being on the border.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Put the kids up for immediate adoption. More than likely, they will want to escape back the other way.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

@laguna

I understand your feelings. I do not advocate illegal immigration. My only concern in this particular case is that the National Guard has no business being on the border.

Tell that to Obama, or are you in the same boat as looney Harry Reid that says, our borders are secure. Would you rather suggest we build a huge electric fence? I'm all for that as well.

MarkG, what part of "zero net illegal immigration" do you not understand?

And what part that illegals are crossing into the country via Mexico from other countries do you not understand?

Not "maybe" - certainly. Concretely, what do you expect that these Guards will do for their $12,000,000 month payroll that the border patrol is not already doing?

More man power. If Wilson could do it to Poncho Villa, then it shouldn't be a problem for the guard. Call it beefing up security.

From what I've heard, border residents feel more threatened by the ubiquitous inland checkpoints than by illegal immigrants.

Nonsense! I'm from a border state and most people that I know that live near the border hopes the idea will spread.

The icing on the cake, though, is that Perry has petitioned Washington to pick up the tab for this blatantly political move. So much for "state sovereignty".

He's not doing anything different what Dems do practically EVERYDAY in office. I guess, he's taking notes on how Dems play politics.

@plasticmomkey

Obama is doing nothing,

Wait, I don't get it. For you GOP fringers either Obama is doing too much with his 'pen and phone', or he's doing nothing. Either he's a fascist dictator or an ineffectual community organizer. You can't have it both ways.

Sure you can. He does all the time.

One thing that is consistent: Perry is just as dumb with or without his glasses.

Your president equally inconsistent in the things that he does that hurts the country and the things he's supposed to that that is good for the country, he royally screws up, but you already knew that deep within your hearts.

@Laguna

Thank you for your reply but I don't agree with " Also, that is an impossible comparison. Stanford is a private university (and if your daughter was accepted, congratulations!) and as such receives no government funding". That comparison is a reality! I work my butt off pay my taxes I know the girls parents her dad does gardening don't pay any taxes, the mother babysits. Lydia gets all expenses paid and has no problem boasting about it. Here it is I have to worry about draining my savings by choice but her parents have no worry in the world because of "FREE MONEY" I can't get a loan period simply because "I make too much money by the college financial aid board" now you go figure it out! The system promotes me and my family to go broke but pay dividends to her family. Is that fair? I am investing in my daughters future so that she can continue to have the lifestyle I provide and perhaps for generations to come. The problem I have is if she can get free money why can't my daughter based on MERIT alone!!! You are correct Stanford is a private institution and receives no government funding but, the money comes from endowments etc.. still free money!!! As far as the comparison its laughable all the way to the bank for her family and others are the new silent middle class that is growing in America that pays no taxes but reaps huge tax payer benefits and advantage where as I pay more and more and becomes disadvantaged! As far as the kids, that is a freaking excuse the majority of the kids who are coming here already have parents on the receiving end waiting for them. You tell me if it no work or a humanitarian crisis how to you pay coyotes $5-7000 to bring your kids to the border. When the kids go through the immigration process they don't show up because their parents are all ready here, they use "UNACCOMPANIED" as an excuse. $5-7000 is a lot of money to be saved by someone from a third world country in such a short time! I have Hispanic friends who have made the journey and they tell me how its done, you pay half up front and on the receiving end you pay the rest!! The law says if you come unaccompanied you have a right to a trial by then the Department of Children and Family Services have to provide welfare for the kids. Those who have family here they simply let them go where they blend in and over crowd schools etc. Its a joke and the American Public is tired of it. I have no problem with IMMIGRATION all Americans want is the government to enforce the laws and not use poor kids as a pawn for their political standing! Why is it that you have a problem with the national guard on the border. The Mexican military is there and they come across all the time. Last but not least. Mexico as well as most of South America has been very corrupt for years you have a country like Japan that was bombed to nothing and look at how successful and economically it has become where as Mexico is still stuck in time.!! Just because America as Elbuda Mexico says is a rich country we should feed poor El Salvadorans etc... thats the problem everyone thinks it free but the Americans are paying the price!! The corruption has been going on for years and its time that those country take care of their own with some humanitarian aid!! How much more can we give before we collapse and BELIEVE ME that will happen!! Most Americans believe this!

0 ( +3 / -3 )

kaimycahl, what can the National Guard do at the border that the Border Patrol is not already doing?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Ending the War on drugs would help.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Obama is pushing for immigration overhaul. Boehner is banning Republicans from even mentioning the word "immigration."

Which party is doing nothing?

1 ( +3 / -2 )

@super

Why don't you ask the question like this. Why did Democrats and Obama ignore the warning signs of the influx of illegals entering in mass numbers into the country without securing the border. Yes, the numbers are going down, but it's summer now and you are NOT going to see the numbers rise until it starts to cool off where the numbers are expected to spike once again. Putting the National Guard on the border will double and help the border patrol which does appreciate the extra and much needed help. Perry is doing what the president should have been doing and didn't. So to answer you question:

Democrats

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

@Superlib

Read this and you will understanding who is doing nothing:

JOE vs. JOSE You have two families: "Joe Legal" and "Jose Illegal" . Both families have two parents, two children, and live in California.. Joe Legal works in construction, has a Social Security Number and makes $25.00 per hour with taxes deducted. Jose Illegal also works in construction, has NO Social Security Number, and gets paid $15.00 cash "under the table". Ready? Now pay attention.... Joe Legal: $25.00 per hour x 40 hours = $1000.00 per week, or $52,000.00 per year. Now take 30% away for state and federal tax; Joe Legal now has $31,231.00. Jose Illegal: $15.00 per hour x 40 hours = $600.00 per week, or $31,200..0 0 per year. Jose Illegal pays no taxes. Jose Illegal now has $31,200.00. Joe Legal pays medical and dental insurance with limited coverage for his family at $600.00 per month, or $7,200.00 per year. Joe Legal now has $24,031.00. Jose Illegal has full medical and dental coverage through the state and local clinics and emergency hospitals at a cost of $0.00 per year. Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00. Joe Legal makes too much money and is not eligible for food stamps or welfare. Joe Legal pays $500.00 per month for food, or $6,000..00 per year. Joe Legal now has $18,031.00. Jose Illegal has no documented income and is eligible for food stamps, WIC and welfare. Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00. Joe Legal pays rent of $1,200.00 per month, or $14,400.00 per year. Joe Legal now has 9,631 .00. Jose Illegal receives a $500.00 per month Federal Rent Subsidy. Jose Illegal pays out that $500.00 per month, or $6,000.00 per year. Jose Illegal still has $ 31,200.00. Joe Legal pays $200.00 per month, or $2,400.00 for car insurance. Some of that is uninsured motorist insurance. Joe Legal now has $7,231.00. Jose Illegal says, "We don't need no stinking' insurance!" and still has $31,200.00. Joe Legal has to make his $7,231.00 stretch to pay utilities, gasoline, etc.. Jose Illegal has to make his $31,200.00 stretch to pay utilities, gasoline, and what he sends out of the country every month.. Joe Legal now works overtime on Saturdays or gets a part time job after work. Jose Illegal has nights and weekends off to enjoy with his family. Joe Legal’ s and Jose Illegal's children both attend the same elementary school. Joe Legal pays for his children's lunches, while Jose Illegal's children get a government sponsored lunch. Jose Illegal's children have an after school ESL program. Joe Legal’ s children go home. Now, when they reach college age, Joe Legal’ s kids may not get into a State School and may not qualify for scholarships, grants or other tuition help, even though Joe has been paying for State Schools through his taxes, while Jose Illegal's kids "go to the head of the class" because they are a minority. Joe Legal and Jose Illegal both enjoy the same police and fire services, but Joe paid for them and Jose did not pay. If you vote for or support any politician that supports illegal aliens... You are part of the problem!

2 ( +5 / -3 )

what can the National Guard do at the border that the Border Patrol is not already doing?

Isn't that obvious? Increase the number of people patrolling the border immediately. The border patrol is stretched very thin already, what other force government force can immediately aid the border patrol in large numbers, with sophisticated communication, transportation, camera, and weapons to enforce the border? The only government organization that can do that right now is really the national guard. No one is happy with any type of militarization of the border but in this case there is a sudden surge that is taking place in the past few months that require additional personal to be deployed immediately.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

@ kaimycahl

And what does illegal Joe gets when he is laid off? No unemployment money? Legal Joe gets approximately $1,500.00 month from Social Secuity and Medicare when he retires at 65 years old. If legal Joe lives to be 85 years old (20 years), legal Joe gets more than $500,000 in Social Secuity alone, can't say that about illegal Joe.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Kaimycahl, you've made an excellent case for immigration reform. Now get on board and try to get Congress to get off their butts and do something. As it stands today, Boehner has banned Republicans from talking about it.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

kaimycahl Jul. 22, 2014 - 11:53PM JST I have no problem with IMMIGRATION all Americans want is the government to enforce the laws and not use poor kids as a pawn for their political standing!

Then what is a solution to the U.S. agricultural industry that depends on 90 percent illegals? The dirty secret that everybody knew was that majority of the U.S. agricultural workers are illegal immigrants. Without them, farmers in California, Arizona, Texas, Florida, and Georgia are substantially short of the number of workers they needed to harvest the crop. Despite high unemployment in many of the states, most U.S. residents don’t want such back-breaking jobs, nor do they have the necessary skills. They rather starve then pick lettuce or oranges. Although many Americans believe immigrants “steal” jobs and push down wages, there is little evidence of that. Problem is that there is double standards on immigration enforcement policy on the agricultural industry. Would you rather hire a former welfare recipient who has never worked a day in their lives and has an entitlement mentality?

0 ( +1 / -1 )

@SFjp300

True Legal Joe gets approximately $1,500.00 month from Social Secuity and Medicare when he retires at 65 years old because he is a "LEGAL US Citizen he deserves every penny he has worked for during his working life as a Citizen of he the US. If legal Joe lives to be 85 years old (20 years), legal Joe is more than privileged to gets his $500,000 in Social Security alone. I have no sympathy for illegal Jose and other who think they are ENTITLED to these things after breaking the law to come to the US. That is the freaking life he chose when he came here ILLEGALLY that's the life he chose instead of following the laws like every SENSIBLE LEGAL IMMIGRATE who has waited in line for years to come to the US. By the way those who IMMIGRATE LEGALLY are too entitled to the same Social Security and Medical benefits as Legal Joe. So whats your point?

Sad story if you want to come here and pick lettuce or oranges I have no problem with that PLEASE APPLY for a "WORKING VISA" not come here saying you want to work only to multiply by the thousand and produce anchor babies as your birth right to stay here!! We are tired of hearing we do the dirty jobs, you tell a Mexican to do the dirty job and they will say to you point blank you have the wrong AMIGO, that's a tired excuse!! If you look at the restaurant industry and hotel industry you say that's is a work no American want to do hell that is the reason why most American teens are out of work because the grammas an grandpas has made a career which put them out of work!

The fact is you can't support these people period!! Too many all at once

The problem is complex. While you are right, I think it's safe to say, either many Americans find these jobs backbreaking or they find the pay too low for the hours they have to put in or a combination of both. Most countries depend on immigrants to do the menial jobs, I get it, but there has to be a way to find a middle ground to employ some of these people that want the work or what is needed without our borders being completely breached. The way the system is now, anyone and everyone is coming in, it's NOT safe, not healthy for either side of the fence. I think both congress and the president need to sit down and figure out the best viable solution to this problem, which is clearly getting worse. Also, if Obama wouldn't have been difficult to work with and and would have worked together with Boehner, the Republicans, I don't think there would be such animus between the two, but as such, here we are: Gridlock! The president does what he's always typically used to doing and that is shove and shift the blame elsewhere, no matter what the situation is.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

If Obama would have joined with Congress and passed a law without amnesty that secured the border in such a manner as to prevent swarms of foreign 10 years olds from overwhelming the southern border, America might now have been able to move on to a solution to the 12 to 20 illegal aliens currently residing in the country.

Instead of taking responsibility for the crisis as Gov. Perry is now doing, Obama takes refuge in blaming others and seeks political advantage and polarization. Obama is the president. He can't blame others incessantly if he really wants to find a solution to the problem. My guess is he doesn't. The rule of law should matter. Americans see the Democrat party asking for amnesty and are wondering what laws they might break and receive amnesty for.

The truth is that Obama has every incentive to encourage illegal immigration regardless of the harm that has occurred to so many children. He has failed to deliver amnesty to the Hispanic community so he pretends to enforce the border to pressure Republicans. He tells the country the kids have to go back but then disperses them all over the country. He knows that the more poor Third World people that move to America the more likely the socialist utopia that he and other Progressives hope for will eventually become a reality. That is the fundamental transformation that he has embarked on and illegal immigration is a means to facilitate this transformation.

I am grateful for those like Gov. Perry who are standing up to defend the rule of law; Obama believes himself a king.

kaimycah lJul. 23, 2014 - 07:07AM JST Sad story if you want to come here and pick lettuce or oranges I have no problem with that PLEASE APPLY for a "WORKING VISA"

The problem with the system is that it’s arbitrary and doesn’t meet the needs of employers. The H2-A program, for temporary agricultural workers, has faltered for different reasons. Before visas can be issued to guest workers, this program requires potential employers to prove that no native-born workers are willing to take their jobs. But that’s almost impossible to prove. As a result, only about 30K foreign workers are in the U.S. under this plan. Perhaps the greatest evidence of the program’s inadequacy is the large number of illegals involved in agricultural work.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

@Wolf

He knows that the more poor Third World people that move to America the more likely the socialist utopia that he and other Progressives hope for will eventually become a reality. That is the fundamental transformation that he has embarked on and illegal immigration is a means to facilitate this transformation.

Right. A socialist utopia where illegal immigrants work for low wages and no benefits, and thereby increase profits for their employers. And out of fear of being caught, these workers won't report to OSHA if their employers cheat on workplace safety. It's a win-win situation for corporate agriculture and meat packing. That sounds soooo much like socialism.

For the record, I believe in strict immigration control, as does any adult on either side of the debate (including Obama). But there needs to be a discussion about punishing businesses that employ illegal immigrants in order to cut costs.

The Southern Poverty Law Center explains why farmers in those states won't hire legal workers.

I suggest you read the entire report on this agricultural industry:

Passed off of their research I believe that in fact the farm workers should in fact be deported and at the same time have the H-2 be abolished. Force the farmers to improve working conditions!

Let me simplify here.

When you have a slow drip water pipe at home and choose to ignore it and it starts leaking much more rapidly. What do you do?

A- call a plumber and fix it.

B- tell everyone you have a leak and need to fix it when you get your paycheck, meanwhile the water is becoming deeper.

Perry called the plumber, Obama is waiting and the water is deepening.

@ Farmboy,

YOU GOT IT ALL WRONG!! The national Guard is doing what their name sake says "GUARD" the border, their presence will send a message saying don't cross this line!! or don't tunnel over!!! For those of you sitting in JAPAN and don't have a clue try going to Memphis Tenn where Elvis Presley lived the town is practically all Spanish speaking and how far is the border from Memphis. Right you get it there is no border when it comes to these NOMADS they spread like wildfire!

Farmboy Jul. 24, 2014 - 03:14AM JST And the troops cannot use their weapons to stop illegal immigration.

Sure, they can use their M-16 weapons in self-defense if they are "threatened" by physical harm. And "threatened" by physical harm has a wide definition since they are not experienced in law. Due to a language barrier, most likely you will see some "threatened" accidents that are questionable, but swepted under the rug.

On the gruesome conditions on the border, and the advisability of carrying your own weaponry:

Blame Obama.

Who else can Americans blame? He has been president for nearly six years. Even if he did nothing his entire time in office he deserves blame for inaction and a failure of leadership. This is what happens when a nation elects a leader whose entire career is based on community organizing and affirmative action; chaos at home and abroad.

@kaimycahl,

Good post. Also remember that the employers of these illegal aliens (often living high on the hog, are getting off without contributing to society). Fine them too.
