Bangladesh seems too poor and incompetent to do much of anything. The best option for foreigners is to avoid the place completely. Don't visit, don't invest, don't buy their products. If they want to hack their foreign guests to pieces, then so be it. They've chosen their course, and we should act accordingly.

The MO of these young terrorists is mutilation, beheadings, and other forms of supreme degradation. It is a pathology that is alien to any legitimate belief system. An overwhelming majority of humans abhor this crap. RIP to those who have fallen victim. Strength to those who have to suffer. Wisdom to those who have to take action.

I want to understand and not have generally negative impressions of one people or one religion. I'm very pro-Palestinian and see Israel for the apartheid state that it is...

but.....

With each passing month and each following atrocity, I can't help but slowly conclude that there is something dreadfully wrong with Islam. These 9 killers haven't been living in a void over the last few months and there must have been a whole support organization behind these actual participants - just like the Paris butchers..just like the Kenyan killers... just like.... the list can go on and on... and on.

Here in Japan, I have a lot of Indian and Pakistani friends, because of the area I live in. They can drink and womanize with the best of them, they can choose to keep or not adhere to Ramadan ( this year for some in-group reason they're all keeping it) and they can have the best secular political discussions to be found in this land of all-taboos. At the same time they can go totally 'Osama Bin laden; and despise all the secular materialism they find around them, here in Japan, and defend Saudi Arabian wahhabism to there last breath.

It's this accommodation of the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde of human nature within the same breath which seems to be a fatal flaw in Islam. Anyone who has been to Iraq knows what I'm talking about. The kindest people in the world, who with the one hand, give the stranger everything they posses, and with the other hand, can commit the unspeakable.

Japan, US and all world powers must pressurize Bangladesh govt. to crack down Islamic militants where the current govt. has become a spoiled child of India doing nothing against extremism other than blaming zombi opposition parties.

@Gary Raynor

And they are also Hindu, not Muslim, unlike Pakistanis and Bangladeshis. The majority of the Indians I know are Muslims, unlike the true demographic order of India

Yes, majority of the Indians you know in Japan are Muslims? I thought majority of them were Hindus, again the demographic of where you live in Japan mat be different.

"im totally sick and becoming much more bored about this..everything bad happened is Islam and Muslim.. please..dont generalize every Muslim like that..other innocent Muslim feeling must also taken into consideration.."

I think the point is that a bit more brutal honesty is needed. Islam is producing murderous fanatics at a high rate at this moment in time across the Islamic world. It sounds cruel but less of the self-pity and cries of discrimination and more of the honest questions such as why Islam is producing such people would be useful.

In my own country, I've seen Muslims march calling for the murder of novelists and cartoonists. I'd like to see the same fury for those who commit disgusting murders in the name of this faith. A bit more of 'not in our name' and less of the 'don't insult our prophet' would be encouraging.

I have enormous respect for the Muslims who do speak out and many are faced with death threats for doing so. These people should be held in the highest regard among Muslims, not attacked as demonizers or traitors as has happened in the past.

I'm quite familiar with Article 9. However, in English your post was contradictory: Why would you both "arm and destroy any organization that killed or kidnapped Japanese?" Hence, your post should have stated that you should not arm your enemy. Make sense, doesn't it?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Other reports say that many of the 20 dead hostages were hacked to death with machetes. They weren't even given the brutal dignity of a quick death via gunfire.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Main news sites reporting 20 hostages killed, most 'brutally' hacked to death last night soon after the seige started.

I don't believe in burning bushes, virgin births, flying horses or 'incarnations'. It's utter claptrap. Dangerous, primitive, silly rubbish.

I believe this is the only life we have. Enjoy it and stop banging on about supernatural crap. It's entertaining for horror movies and makes money for rip off artists but this crap isn't useful in the real world. When this nonsense tries to influence politics, it must be resisted.

Keep this garbage private.

"But terrorism carries a sick message. When OBL and Saddam were killed, it equals justice."

Perhaps. Since we are on the subject of justice, wouldn't you agree that the people who started the Iraq War which let the lunatics out of the asylum should at least stand trial for a war based on a pack of lies?

Believe it or not, the leaders of the US and the UK are capable of foul things too.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

@Gary Raynor Majority of the Pakistani/Bangladeshi's definitely , as for the Indians, majority of them are white collar workers albeit some of them may fit the bill.

"It is a pathology that is alien to any legitimate belief system."

I'm not so sure that the actions of people who butcher in the name of certain religions are alien to what their holy scriptures say. I suppose it depends if you regard religious belief as legitimate.

I believe the Japanese hostages are the JICA aid workers who are in Bangladesh working on a transportation project. Latest news from elsewhere has indicated the 20 who died are mostly Japanese & Italians. They may have been there in two separate groups. Do not be surprised if the Japanese Government withdraw from the project. The head of JICA was interviewed on NHK news and he expressed sadness and anger that this has happened to people who are there to work on aid projects in Bangladesh.

and there has been news of foreigners being killed including a few Japanese men has been happening over the past year. Until there is some stability down there, it may be best for the Japanese government to prohibit travel there until things become more stable.

Arm and destroy any organization that killed or kidnapped Japanese.

Perhaps you mean< "Disarm" here?

Sorry , that you don't like the truth but nearly a quarter or the world's population is Islamic

Given that ratio extremists are not uncommon, same counts for Christians(look at the recent Mississippi news alone), neither is Judaism exempted.

Most religions git a rather bloody history and their current shareof extremist.

Let's talk again after Israel makes peace with their neighbours.

It is difficult to find words to express what I feel after yet another carnage carried out by twisted minds.

Why is it so easy for somebody to develop so much hate for people whose only crime was that they did not either belong to the same religion or did not share belief in a deviant version of one's religion.

There is no point in fooling ourselves that this is a religion of peace because what is visible does not have peace anywhere in it.

There are people in this world who have progressed far from the age of dark, barbaric, medieval ages and then there are people who are hell bent in going back to it.

All were JICA staff. They have been offered 24h protection by so many times ex SAS/SBS UKSF private security companies, but of course theitr budgets never allow this. And before I am deleted as 'Off Topic' by the JT and down-thumbed by others, I do know about this as I was one who offered this service to JICA 10 years ago for Iraq and other countries they work in, but the slaughter continues.

I worked and lived close with Muslims for over 10yrs and most were shocked at the Gulf War, when their sons asked to join the fight they got a thick ear.

A 19 year old Indian girl along with 20 foreigners including Japanese nationals have been killed in the terror attack in Dhaka by ISIS terrorists.

"im totally sick and becoming much more bored about this..everything bad happened is Islam and Muslim.. please..dont generalize every Muslim like that..other innocent Muslim feeling must also taken into consideration.."

The world is sick of Men shouting All Akbuar while they shoot, kill, behead, bomb and rape. But unlike you we aren't bored. But you know what I'm really sick of?

Everytime Islamic terrorists kill, rape, bomb, behead and blow innocent people up, Muslims start telling everyone that Islam is a religion of peace and lecture the world about considering the feelings of Muslims.

And then some genius starts lecturing non-Mudlmsabout the true theological meaning of the term jihad.

Hey Itsme and others, don't tell us, go tell the 1% or 2% or 0.5% or 5% or whatever it is of Muslims about peace and the inner struggle of jihad. Not us.

There are surely enough peaceful Muslims in the world to solve the problem of Islamic terrorism aren't there?

Get out in the streets, start movements , hunt down the people (not just Isis - there are Islamic terrorists in many different countries with many different names - they just say the same thing when they kill).

And Gary Raynor had to mention Israel?!?

Itsme chimes in talking about "most Muslims".... That's the problem Genius. What's most? 95%

That leaves millions willing to kill.

Not even 1% of Christians, Buddhists or Wiccans are going around hacking innocent people to death.

So - what's the problem in Islam?

Muslims, don't attack me. Get together in mosques and ask yourselves and solve the problem. We need something like a Muslim Peace Corp.

Shalom

Just a small step between demonstrating outside an abortion clinic and bombing it which of course no Christian has ever done.

Extremists are all around us we just chose not to see most for what they truly are.

"I understand your point, but How many Christians so called extremists in Mississippi are radicalized that are killing and beheading people or in other words using the most extreme violence in the name of their religion? Doesn't even come close."

I prefer the word 'bigot' to 'extremist' in the Mississippi case. Call out bigotry in every religion whenever you see it. Don't make excuses for these people.

I'd agree that Islam is producing more murderous fanatics than other faiths at this moment in time, but that could change in the future. Numbers matter and trying the line that all faiths produce extremists is a dodge. Is anyone here seriously putting forward the idea that other faiths are producing the same number of terrorists who kill I'm the name of their faith? If yes, who and where?

@dm: read article 9. I meant Arm.to attack, there is English version.. 9 prohibit arming. Read Article 9

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Fyi, article 9 was created for Japanese. It was created for Japan's disarmament.

The article was written by GHQ legal officer Iafis after Then Japanese pm and hus right hand man Narahashoimgot help of Cougessa Tsuruyo. My recommendation is revision to attack back ably organizations that killed and or kidnapped. You maybeasnt Japanese gettnkilled all the time, but not I.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Nope it has been covered the most since 9/11.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

In the USA, and Europe, please give me a side by side list of all the terrorist acts that have killed thousands of people in the name of Christianity, I mean over the last 15 years. I know you can't because it doesn't exist. Show me where Christians are murdering in the name of their fath either infidels or Apostates? I would like to know. Just in the 2 months we have had attacks by radical Jihadists and how many in this year alone?

I prefer the word 'bigot' to 'extremist' in the Mississippi case.

I know a lot of people from the South, some may have strong religious views, but that's not everyone. It's not like you're going down there and getting lynched, you have Blacks and Whites living together, it's not the "Bull Connor" 1950's.

Call out bigotry in every religion whenever you see it. Don't make excuses for these people.

The majority of people do.

I'd agree that Islam is producing more murderous fanatics than other faiths at this moment in time, but that could change in the future. I seriously doubt you will see Religious fundamental Christians on a bloody warpath, however, there could be a strong pushback and strong evangelicals rejecting hard leaning left progressive values and to them Athiesm is a form of ANTI- religion that they feel threatened by as well.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Correction: Jihad means internal struggle as personal struggle within yourself.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

My recommendation of revising article 9 Arm and destroy any organization that killed or kidnapped Japanese.

Extremists are all around us we just chose not to see most for what they truly are.

That wasn't my point, I am aware of the bombings as vile as they are, but my point is over the last 15 years worldwide, radical Jihadism has been the largest make-up of radical terrorism without a doubt.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

That wasn't my point, I am aware of the bombings as vile as they are, but my point is over the last 15 years worldwide, radical Jihadism has been the largest make-up of radical terrorism without a doubt.

Most of which has been in the Middle East. And if you start looking at numbers, the US has killed more people in the Middle East in the last 15 years than terrorism has.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

But terrorism carries a sick message. When OBL and Saddam were killed, it equals justice.

Justice is relative. When terrorists kill Americans, they call that justice too.

Civilians killed? Oh well, Obama did his best to avoid that. Drones aren't alway 100%.

The US has still killed more innocents than the terrorists.

I still cannot figure out why (for the life of me) these people want emigrate to the United States or America. Beats me, I thought we were infidels.

Whatever makes you think the terrorists are the ones who want to live in the US.
