John McCain was shot down and was tortured for five and a half years in the Hanoi Hilton. He died in 2018. The U.S. Navy hid his name under a tarp... on Memorial Day.

Really America? This is who is our President?

6 ( +10 / -4 )

In my opinion, typhoon in a teacup kind of thing about the ship, and whether he said he didnt want to see it or not, whatever, but his still being angry at McCain, even after he is dead.....that is pure Trump, a child in a man's body suffering from narcissism and dementia at the same time.

Literally beating a dead horse!

he is still angry at late senator

The man (who was a real American hero unlike you) is dead. Show a little class.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

I am ashamed for our country to be represented by this man as our leader.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

the media gets angry when Trump calls them out on their lies

Give me 5 examples of media lies (not acknowledged errors) that Trump has called out. I'll bet you can't.

I like Trump since he does not hide his feelings

Insulting dead war heroes who voted against you is not honorable. Calling people "losers" on a national stage is not what adults, professionals, or political leaders should be doing.

"Now, somebody did it because they thought I didn't like him, OK? And they were well-meaning, I will say,"

I wouldn't call that "well-meaning". I would call that sycophantic.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

It's come to a point where you're just not surprised anymore at how petty-minded this man-child has become. Lock him up!

4 ( +7 / -3 )

United States as a very important country deserves a true responsible statesman,

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Why would they order a ship moved because of the name? They were worried Trump couldn't handle it or something?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

The sad thing is that reports indicate that sailors from the ship were disinvited to the event and turned away if they did show up. Let it sink in a moment.

U.S. sailors (soldiers) were denied access to see the commander in chief because of political concerns.

And, since we live in this insane reality. It wasn't even because they were Democrats but because they deigned to serve on a ship named after three war heroes who the obscenity literally hates.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

I don't want to believe the US Navy could be so petty, but given this is the Trump era, an era full of fake news an alt facts, many coming directly from Trump and his White House, almost anything is believable.

Does anyone with inside knowledge of US Navy affairs know if those sailors who put the 'make ... great again' patch on their uniforms were reprimanded?

Maybe things have changed from the days when an active duty military member would be given office hours or worse for the slightest alteration of uniform.

But once more, this is the Trump era. An era when loyalty to the executive trumps loyalty to the military and nation.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Then again, Trump hasn't done anything worth being named after, except selling out the country and splitting it up.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

How sick and twisted are the commanders who went along with this crap. This idiot in chief is so weak, so pathetic, so childish that they had to hide McCain's name. For God's sake how pathetic.

Defacing a US Navy warship while on duty in a foreign land. It is difficult to grasp how unpatriotic this man is, prepared to place his petty grievances ahead of the brave women and men who serve in the Navy and our military's standing abroad.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

"I was not a big fan of John McCain in any way, shape or form."

And many, many people are not fans of you in any way, shape or form yet they have to put up with you and your childish tantrums

2 ( +2 / -0 )

I agree, nor should he ever and he should never be silenced or shunned for his beliefs because once you start going down that road, your sticking your toes in the waters of fascism.

Hmmm, wonder why Trump wants to ban media that talks about his faults and failures. Its ok for Trump to use bigoted language and talk dirty but nobody can mention his name in a negative light? Think you need to re-educate yourself on the word "fascism"...

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Another really weird story straight out of right field.

Trump, being commander-in-chief, was probably the one gave the order to hide the ship and give only the USS John S McCain crew the day off.

Trump is such a wuss.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

I think it's unlikely Trump ordered this. To do so he would have had to have been aware of the ship's presence, even its existence.

Trump has repeatedly shown he has very limited knowledge of the military and military affairs.

The military reform school his parents sent him to primarily taught him how to use his daddy's connections to be even more of a bully.

I think it must have been someone in his White House, maybe one of his family members, probably little Stephen Miller or another of his boot licking lackeys. Someone who knew how easily Trump's triggered. Cult of personality after all.

@bass$or should he ever and he should never be silenced or shunned for his beliefs because once you start going down that road, your sticking your toes in the waters of fascism.

What? People who push for Trump to be given even greater powers show they don't understand what fascism is. Start by looking at authoritarian regimes like those found in North Korea, China, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Iran and other places.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

But, Trump added, "I would never do a thing like that."

Sure you wouldn't! Don't worry Donny, I'm sure someday they'll name something after you for your draft-dodging services to the nation. Something very fragile and easy to control maybe.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

To be fair, I'm pretty sure most future presidents left and right won't want anything with Trumps name or image around when they are doing anything...so...

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Bass: Even if someone tried to do it, has nothing to do with Trump.

You mean someone at the White House had it moved for someone else? Not Trump?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

About his war record I would agree, but as a politician, I think it’s well deserved.

You criticise democrats for being in lockstep ( in itself fake news ) but then criticise a republican for not being in lockstep.

It sounds like you like politicians being in lockstep as long as they support policies you agree with, but then criticise those who fall out of line espousing opinions you disagree with.

This is a very instructive example of partisanship.

Yubaru mnetions :

that is pure Trump, a child in a man's body suffering from narcissism and dementia at the same time.

It's a very dangerous child.

United States as a very important country, deserves is a true responsible statesman,

and not liar baby ( manipulated by a doubtful entourage )

1 ( +5 / -4 )

I did and more. There you go.

Exactly what I thought you would post, can you do one that isn't a far alt-right spin-site?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

The lies just do not stop from this pretender.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

 manipulated by a doubtful entourage

I hardly think that Trump is or can be manipulated by anyone.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Never like NoName, maybe it was the SongBird in him.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

You mean someone at the White House had it moved for someone else? Not Trump?

I think he means Trump doesn't have any control of his own team at the white house and they do whatever they want. Chaos.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

@bas4 Trying to take down a duly elected President

Another example of the dialect (and hyperbole) used by a partisan-extremist; the majority of Americans would say McCain was criticizing the president using his 1st Amendment rights. The US doesn't have lese majeste laws - yet. Legally allowed criticism of Trump by ANYONE is permissible.

trying to hide behind your war status is not honorable.

Another example of partisan-extremist thinking and language, both also used by chickenhawks.

I was never a supporter of McCain. But I think what Trump and his supporters are saying about him is repulsive.

The sad thing is that reports indicate that sailors from the ship were disinvited to the event and turned away if they did show up. Let it sink in a moment.

False.

U.S. sailors (soldiers) were denied access to see the commander in chief because of political concerns.

False.

But, by all means, don't take the word of someone who was actually there...

Glad to see that the navy refuses to follow orders, in a McCain mutiny.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

@nandakanamanda n a McCain mutiny

Good one. I can easily see Trump being so triggered he'd be rolling ball bearings in his hand while cracking up.

CrazyJoe

And what is the point of your Business Insider (lol) article? Still waiting for someone to share a substantiated article with named sources that confirms any of these allegations. Were people kept from attending the event aboard WASP? Probably, for a myriad reasons. Could some of them have been off the MCCAIN? Possibly. So?

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Two Navy sailors, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly, said that the McCain sailors were not invited to hear Mr. Trump speak that day aboard the amphibious assault ship Wasp, while sailors from other American warships at the base were.

You do realize that there are 13 Yokosuka based ships and only six of them participated in the event? Could it be that the event happened to be on Memorial Day, a federal holiday 96 hour liberty weekend? Nah, of course not.

interesting discussion about:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EESI_9gpGLk

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

No big deal.

Those in the military and in this case the Navy, may have wanted to meet the President, or not.

But coincidence or not, the presence of one ship which just happens to have a name of a person Trump, dislikes, is more a political issue and trumped up to make matters worse.

The very fact that he "visited" as he has done in every country and places he has visited where US troops were present, is a boon to those who are in harms way, especially on Memorial Day. I as a former military would have appreciated his visit and words of encouragement.

It would have been nice if the article kept it from becoming a political issue.

After siding with the leader of an enemy nation against a fellow American, I didn't think there was anything more disgraceful and disgusting this pitiful excuse for a human being could do...

But then as if on cue, he again disrespects a war hero and statesman - one who has passed on and isn't here to defend himself. And military personnel and Vets recoil in horror...

There is no limit to his pettiness, childishness, vindictiveness, and insecurity...

He is completely without integrity...

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

There are plenty of legit reasons to be angry at McCain; he was a terrible person. We shouldn't just forget all these reasons just because he's dead...

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

zichi

The Commander-in-Chief is the only person at the WH with enough authority to issue the request over the USS McCain.

Ah, no. Next.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

I like Trump since he does not hide his feelings unlike many politicians for them hiding their feelings is their way of life making difficult people understand what politicians really think.

-4 ( +4 / -8 )

To be fair, I'm pretty sure most future presidents left and right won't want anything with Trumps name or image around when they are doing anything...so..

If they are establishment then you are right if they are from the populist movement then No, you would be wrong.

Then again, Trump hasn't done anything worth being named after, except selling out the country and splitting it up.

People said that about Reagan, people said that about both Bush’s, people said that about Carter and Obama(Lol) and still things were being named after them, some people liked them, some didn’t and with Trump it’ll be the same. I have zero doubt about regardless of what Don Lemon says or thinks.

Exactly what I thought you would post, can you do one that isn't a far alt-right spin-site?

Every other side is all far left, so why would I do that? I do believe in other opposing point of views.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

It's come to a point where you're just not surprised anymore at how petty-minded this man-child has become

Did you not read the article? Trump had nothing to do with the request to keep the USS McCain out of sight.

And as far as McCain being a hero... he was captured. He didn't save anyone. I respect his service, but he's only a hero to the military industrial complex.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

No, he doesn’t get a pass because he’s a war hero, sorry.

About his war record I would agree, but as a politician, I think it’s well deserved.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

It wouldnt surprise me if some Dem led committee subpoenaed every single person on that military base to get to the bottom of this critical issue. Why dont we do a FISA warrant and spy on every single persons communications until we hear what really happened.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

Trump had nothing to do with it. Someone on his staff thought he might like that done, and that staffer was right. Just like someone on the staff thought he might like a double cheeseburger for lunch.

Now its not clear whether it was actually done or not to purposely cover up the name or not, but great proactive thinking by the staffer to ask someone to do it.

Its ok for Trump to use bigoted language *

Bigoted?? How?

and talk dirty but nobody can mention his name in a negative light? Think you need to re-educate yourself on the word "fascism"...

No, when the left try to push a certain political point of view and then get angry when you make a counter argument and try to silence you, that is fascism in its purest unfiltered form.
