Condolences to the victim's families on this day of remembrance.

Commemorations stretch from the attack sites — at New York's World Trade Center, the Pentagon and Shanksville, Pennsylvania — to Alaska and beyond. President Joe Biden is due at a ceremony on a military base in Anchorage.

There were neo-con and Saudi interests working to make sure the attacks were carried out. And the whistleblowers were silenced and drowned out amongst insane conspiracy theories.

We will never forget. I will never forget. RIP to all those who perished.

Remember those who died that day. The image of poor souls jumping to escape the heat is something I’ll never forget.

I was a freshman in high school in the suburbs of DC. I stopped watching cable news that day. Even as a 14 yo I could see how the newscasters were relishing the 24 hour coverage. I was thinking, people are jumping out buildings and these newscasters look like they’re enjoying themselves. Made me sick. RIP.

American has moved on,by kissing up too the Saudi Arabia government, they have never been held accountable

Biden, a Democrat, will be the first president to commemorate Sept. 11 in Alaska, or anywhere in the western U.S.

This has no significance except as a way to put Uncle Joe’s name in print.

22 years ago, 22 can you believe it? World has never been the same since has it?

-6 ( +2 / -8 )

Absolutely tragedy. Never all those innocent people that died, God rest their souls, but knowing that OBL got his just deserved payback in the worst possible way was one of the happiest days of my life.

Sad day no doubt. It was so shocking.

But America freaked out irrationally in the aftermath. Hundreds of thousands of Iraqis died as a result. ISIS came about as the response to 911. The NSA phone tapping scandals came about because of 911. And America never looked back at their response and punished the criminals responsible for their 911 freak out invasion of Iraq, and is still living less free as a result of their freak out response.

Those specific terrorists all died that day, but they won in so many ways. They did exactly what they wanted to do to America. And that's on America.

Biden is absent again. He walked out on a Medal of Honor winner. He walked out of Afghanistan. If he left the White House, would anyone even notice?

Second best president in recent history (after Obama)? Of course people would notice.

False, the world is still the same, the sun rise in the east, set in the west, only thing change is the Patriots Act and mass government surveillance

I don't usually respond to your word salad, but in this case people should know that the Patriot Act has expired.

Yeah, it definitely was a mess.

By Obama, it is worth remembering.

ISIS came about as the response to 911.

If it wasn't in Iraq, it would have materialized elsewhere in the region. You keep repressing people and they will resort to ever more extreme means to respond. We can only imagine what will materialize in Syria.

The NSA phone tapping scandals came about because of 911.

Nobody in the US thinks about this. We just assume all our phones are tapped and were so before 9/11. The federal government is pretty good about not using it for non-terrorism crime. A bigger concern is the genealogy databases which have been used against non-terrorism crime.

And America never looked back at their response and punished the criminals responsible for their 911 freak out invasion of Iraq, and is still living less free as a result of their freak out response.

We're not going to punish GWB when much of Congress went along with the ill conceived venture. Iraq is doing fairly well for the region, though. We might look back and say it was a good thing to do depending on whether Iraq maintains its independence from Iran.

Those specific terrorists all died that day, but they won in so many ways. They did exactly what they wanted to do to America. And that's on America.

The Patriot Act expired. We have, unfortunately, introduced other censorship, but that is usually under the guise of "think of the children". Mostly life goes on as before, but with an additional weariness about terrorism on planes and big events, but then that is true in Japan and Canada as well.

By Obama, it is worth remembering.

By Robert J. O'Neill actually worth remembering.

The destabilization of Iraq by the USA, in a fake-news search for WMDs, led to ISIS.

You can try to play it off as if America wasn't directly responsible, but it was.

By Robert J. O'Neill actually worth remembering.

Yeah, following direct orders from Obama, who cleaned up little Bush's job.

Yeah, following direct orders from Obama, who cleaned up little Bush's job.

Regardless, O’Neill is that one that pulled the trigger, could care less who green lighted it.

Not green lighted, ordered.

Not green lighted, ordered.

Semantics

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

If it's just semantics, then why does it bother you so much to admit Obama ordered it?

Are we pretending it's not because you would never give credit to a Democrat for doing something the Republicans wanted to do but couldn't get done themselves?

Wahhabism goes back 200 years and then some. You are not going to be able to blame the US for the current state of the ME and look credible. Also you can thank us for doing a large part of the work to remove ISIS. The Iraqis and Kurds did the rest.

Robert O'Neill would have been twiddling his thumbs at base if not for Obama taking the political heat for the mission. Also there are the whole team who got Robert O'Neill's rear to the location. And the CIA you hate so much that determined where Bin Laden was.
