You mean like the UK?

My son went unvaxxed to Denmark. He was skeptical when I told him that, even as a foreigner, he would, as likely as not, be able to get a jab from the no-nonsense Danes who know how to run a society based on rational thinking and common sense. Sure enough, within a week he got a J&J. After spending two months there in relative safety he'll soon be returning to the Tokyo epicenter. I pray for his safety when he resumes his life in a society inimical to common sense.

One of the smartest things that they did was to include an ending date for vaccine passports when they were introduced. Citizens understood it was not permanent so people co-operated.

I'm trying to recall who all on this site constantly attacked Denmark and other Scandinavian countries because they claimed those countries were socialistic, whatever that word might mean to them.
I think Denmark and other Scandinavian countries have been among the most successful in the world, in large part because of their respective forms of socialism.

and yet it's only because of the 70% vaccinated that this has happened.

Gee, it's amazing that vaccinating people at 73% or more and 96% of 65 year olds makes things better. This was common knowledge the first of the year in some countries.
Speaking of vaccinations, did you know that there are about 5 mandatory vaccinations required for children to attend school in most first-world countries? We don't see a lot of polio or smallpox cases anymore, do we? And yet, some countries have millions of people who refuse to get vaccinated for Covid.
Did you know that 99% of hospitalized Covid patients are unvaccinated? Shocking, isn't it? And yet, some countries...

There is an interesting category of people who already had covid, being 8x more immune to the virus than those who had the vaccine. It seems that despite their immunity they are being ignored when it comes to “vaccine passports”, perhaps there is no money to be made off healthy people with natural immunity.
Paustovsky
A highly educated society.

Thank you dear sir for bringing in immigration to a vaccine discussion.
It just shows your concern for your fellow beings.

...'WHO warned that vaccines alone may not end the pandemic and the virus could be around for years.'
So has the common cold. The vaccine programs instituted by governments around the world are what is to be expected. What is to be expected next should be the return to freedoms for all those who are vaccinated. It's NOT going to go away. Those of us with healthy 'systems' (I'm 67, by the way and have suffered one heart attack, but I refuse to give up) should be 'entitled' to carry on with life. We're not infected and our systems have the key that the pharmas don't.

You should probably head over to an article that doesn't prove that they are working.
Sure you do. We all do.

Yes, the US could learn a lot from Denmark. 73% vaccination rate would go a long way to helping the country with the most deaths from Covid-19. It's too bad that half of Americans are dumber than sticks.
bass4funk
Agreed.
The Danish always get it right when it comes to handling this virus and migrant immigration. Great country, smart leadership.

Well done
As Japan will teach soon the 70% vaccinated, hope the government will take example. No need for vaccine passeport and restrictions
louisferdinandc
It doesn’t say Denmark has no vaccine passport, but that it will only now stop using it after putting it in place March 2021 and vaccinating 70% of the population, 96% of the over 65.
It’s not their fault if Japan is a year behind and decided to run its own vaccine trials delaying even more the rollout because the Japanese living abroad that were included by Pfizer in its large scale trials might not eat natto every day.

What are you about to sell me and how many more posts until you get paid?

The antivaxxers forgot to read this part.
Well done people of Denmark, if only others had the sense you have!!!
Ingvar
China just collectively coughed.
ClippetyClop
They probably don’t have to, since there isn’t an opposition party that embraces loony theories, quack treatments or pushes its uneducated supporters to not get vaccinated for political purposes.
Blacklabel
30% are unvaccinated is how I read this as well.
so we don’t need an “everybody has to get vaccinated or lose their job” mandate.
Ingvar
Is access to a safe and effective vaccine acceptable?
2020hindsights
I wish them luck. They do have a high percentage of vaccinated, so hopefully it goes well for them.
However, lifting restrictions completely could lead to a surge in Covid cases among unvaccinated people. It’s very realistic to think that about half of the unvaccinated population will be infected in the next three or four months, leading to a rise in hospitalisations.
Gooch
One of few countries showing some sanity right now.
But I’m cautious about how long it will last until the next fear campaign pressures Denmark’s government into reintroducing restrictions. Can’t have any outliers in what the chief health officer and the health minister in faraway New South Wales openly boasted on Thursday as the new world order. Where have we heard that before?

This is undeniable proof that vaccines do work and that the world can get back to pre 2019 life IF people follow PROFESSIONAL medical advice and get vaccinated and get booster shots when required!

Sir, like everything else , you will be proven wrong.

Of course. The virus is endemic now, and countries like Australia and NZ that chase after the impossible goal of having eliminating it are chasing windmills.
The solution is of course to develop good treatment protocols and offer vaccinations, without forcing them on people. Note that the Danish government is not demonizing the unvaccinated.
The Avenger
Denmark removing all restrictions despite having more than 500+ positively tested Danes is playing with fire without an extinguisher! How many went to be tested in place instead of partying? Come Autumn and Winter, the Danish government will regret their action. Just look at Israel, Australia etc..
Sven Asai
It has of course almost nothing or not so much to do with good anti corona politics, high vaccination %rates and so on, but the correlation is clearly to find with the geographical location, being very much or completely surrounded by sea. All countries, islands, regions with such a condition have lower corona pandemic effects, some of them even aren’t affected at all, like some islands in the Pacific.
bass4funk
Not everyone got vaccinated, a lot of people in fact didn’t. The fact that the Danish are dealing with this and understanding the virus will be here for a very long time and deal with it as they go along is very mature of the leadership of that country.
Sister Jane
Looking at what happens to all those who oppose the Main Stream throughout history, Denmark might well consider a different course of action, be interesting to watch. I wonder if Denmark will be cut out of certain organizations now? I digress, my pop corn is always on hand to watch the show.

Still waiting for those "highly effective" vaccines to start working.

Again, deaths are down overall and generally speaking percentage wise even if the infections are up.
If you do, that’s great. Nice language, great people.

According to the left and which confused conservatives and Scandinavians themselves.
Cradle to grave government entitlements
But economically embracing Capitalism to its fullest, not to mention they have teeny tiny populations, try it on a nation of 340 million plus! Good luck with that.

I give it 3 weeks before the next lockdown

I also speak Swedish and can say the Swedish state has done a great job in culling pensioners and using the pseudo science (as far as it relates to this disease) of herd immunity to justify it. This has relived public finances for 5 or more years. Capitalism still works!
