I wonder just how many people in that crowd actually knew anything about the man they are "mourning"?
TumbleDry
Yubaru: Yes. He was known and popular in Iran.

"Government official"..... hmm. He was head of the Al Quoz brigade which was designated as a terrorist organization already under the OBAMA administration. So lets go easy on the euphemistic labelling a la our fake media.
That said, I do NOT agree with the US drone assassination policy. Regardless if Obama does it or Trump. Keep in mind though that Obama is still the record holder by far.

Gee, that's too bad

While I am not a huge fan of the UN, maybe it's about time they think about moving their headquarters OUT of the US!
Yubaru
Like it or not, Iran has labelled the US as a "terrorist organization" as well, so whose side is right?
I guess it all depends upon who side one is looking at the issues from!

Iranian General Qassem Soleimani was an enemy combatant in a foreign country, which made him fair game for a military attack. GENERAL Soleimani was in Iraq to personally lead his bands of terrorists as they murder more Iraqis, U.N., and U.S. personnel.
These Iranians were so enthusiastic about celebrating death that they killed 56 of their own in a stampede.

And Iran has its partner Russia (see Syria, see global gas cabal), a state expanding its empire with a nuke arsenal equal to or greater than the US's backing it up.
Trump's ongoing bumbling is putting the world at greater risk because the world remains dependent on burning huge amounts of oil and gas. Trump's a tool for the oil corporations.
Trump's continuing the US economy's reliance on wars to keep it strong. Trump's a tool of the globe's establishment (see contributions from big oil, big defense industries and Wall Street), i.e. the so called elite who profit most from wars and from burning huge amounts of oil and gas.

Well, I do agree with the strike and I think had it not been done, more Americans would have died and you have to ask yourself when is enough, enough. You can’t always walk on eggshells and think if we take this guy out, it will stir a hornets nest, that’s obvious and why wouldn’t it, but we as a nation can’t be sympathetic or weak when it comes to battling terrorism. If he were head of a State, that would be different, but going after a military official, green light. Not sorry, sad or apologetic that this guy is gone, I think it was the best thing we could and should have done a long time ago, long overdue. Now of course we have to deal with the blowback, but a confrontation with Iran to be honest is really inevitable at some point. Now imagine if Soleimani did. pull off an attack and the President did nothing to prevent it, you think liberals and the press would praise Trump for not doing anything or everything in his power to prevent it? You think the usual Democrat players would give thanks to the President for showing restraint for not taking action? Think CNN, msnbc and the NYT would give the President credit if Trump did nothing about an a pulled off attack on the US or our soldiers? Think about that deeply for a moment.

It's ironic that more died in the funeral procession than in the actual targeted elimination of the terrorist coordinator.

I did. Why did the US first invade Iraq. Why is it still there.
CrazyJoe
Either I’ve got to stop reading the news in the morning or I’ve got to give up coffee and go right to the martini shaker.

Why did the Iranians storm our embassy in Tehran and held our staff for over 444 days and why did the Carter administration do nothing about it?
arrestpaul
Well said. The CNN-types, elected Democrats, and Hillary-worshippers have been going very far out of their way to ignore the fact that General Soleimani was killed in his own self-proclaimed combat zone.
arrestpaul
Because elected representatives, such as Pinocchio Pelosi, foot-in-mouth Biden, and many others, though it was a good idea. At least until they decided to politicize the issue.
PTownsend
Change the subject? But one answer to your question re the embassy is the Iranians wanted to take their country back after Eisenhower (for British Petroleum and supposedly to keep Russia away) invaded Iran.

"..cowardly assassination.." ? Nothing cowardly about it; rather bold, I'd say. What? Because Trump didn't go up to him, say who he was, and challenge him to a dueling match? "..inalienable right" ? Depends on which country one's in.
"Obviously Trump is responsible for the murder of those stampeded to death. Anyone one with common sense can see that." Need to change one word (common) in yr statement to two words (..my twisted..)
CrazyJoe
The Iranian Shia muslims (along with the Kurdish fighters that Trump recently betrayed) fought and destroyed Sunni ISIS in Syria, (with some air help from the USA). Now they have all been betrayed by Trump.
So tell me, why does the USA cow tow to Saudi Arabia - who funded 911 terrorists, Al Qaeda and ISIS?
Why do you see Iran as an enemy? Because the USA loves Saudi oil and money perhaps?
lostrune2
You can thank Trump
Go ahead, ya know ya want to
CrazyJoe
Donnie is jealous that there were no stampede deaths during his inauguration. Not enough people.
Mr Kipling
Good question. I’d suggest doing a little reading as to why the Iranian revolution happened. The US and UK don’t come out looking very good.
Iran has been a victim of US aggression since at least the 1950s.
Black Sabbath
To be sure, Iran's proxy attack on the US embassy in Iraq demanded a response.
Killing Soleimani could have been an appropriate response, but I doubt it.
'Cause Trump is an idiot. And the people in favor of it are the same idiots who gave us the Iraq War.
Sorry: their track record sucks.
And no one should trust them.
bass4funk
No, sir.
So basically what you’re saying is to justify that, the Iranians couldn’t negotiate a deal with Washington? They had to invade, destroy and hold Americans hostage because of that? Imagine if the rolls were reversed what the Muslim world and what liberals would have said about such an aggressive action?
Abigail
Death to Israel. Israel had nothing to do with the strikes, but like Trump makes it an easy target vs getting to know and understand the real culprits behind the scenes calling the plays.
plasticmonkey
You do? Because Soleimani was going to personally carry out the attack all by his lonesome? You've been watching too many Marvel movies, my friend.
elephant200
I believe the story said by the Iraqi President that General Soleimani came to Iraq is talk peace with other Arab countries! he has nothing hostile to others, his death was a tragedy and need an international investigation! Trump was either reckless or having a hidden motive!
bass4funk
Like with OBL? Hey, don’t know about you, but I’m happy that garbage is gone.
Marvel? What on Earth are you talking about? Lol! But yes, liberals do live in a comic world.
Mocheake
He's dead and poses no threat. So much baloney from Salami.
Toasted Heretic
Seriously, why do Trump supporters do this?
Soleimani has been afforded a funeral fitting of his stature. Now, you and I may not care for the fella and won't be mourning his passing but, he's not the pantomime villain that the war machine paints him to be. He was allied with Kurdish fighters against ISIS at one stage - you remember the Kurds, right?
This so-called "imminent attack" is absolute bobbins and is being promoted by those who'd never heard of the General until Friday.
Won't get fooled again.
bass4funk
Yeah, they said the same about OBL and in the end his niceness didn’t help much.
Double agent, the oldest profession.
Yeah, ok...lol
