Churns my stomach. How low can people go?

Sadly I start getting uncivilized thoughts about what the perp(s) deserve(s).

There is no forgiveness for crimes of this nature, ESPECIALLY against children. My god... raping six to 11 year olds and then murdering them? I pray these criminals are caught and given theirs in prison. Until then, India has really, REALLY got to work on toughening laws on abuse and rape. They need to start making examples of people and giving ZERO tolerance to the perpetrators.

I hope that the Indian government brings DNA testing into solving this case. deals with the perpetrators as they deserve, and the word goes out that any man involved in rape will not get away with it.

Indians when living abroad are generally very gentle, nice people. It's sad to hear those poor young girls died such a terrible death. Unfortunately, this kind of thing happens in many countries.

The point that everyone, including the JT, seems to be missing, this is a report of ONE incident...

Until a short time ago such incidents were not publicised at all in India, and if a woman wants to report a rape to the police outside the big cities, she would simply get more of that...

Reports like this are to be welcomed as they finally scratch the silly tourist surface of India's image and give people a closer look at the reality of that country

crazy

I am, as a matter of conscience, against the death penalty. But there are times when you have to wonder. This is one of them. Whatever the method, the criminals should never be allowed free in society again. RIP for the children. Some things just make you sick.

Disgusting! Unfortunately the world has no shortage of perverts and when they are evil perverts...... I hope the perp(s) get what they deserve.

Horrible.

Worst non-financial crime of 2013 yet. What a way to destroy a family.

The world as a whole, is in Serious Moral Decay...Who are these evil people who prey on innocent children. They deserve nothing good in this world. KARMA...RIP little one's...

Steve ChristianFeb. 21, 2013 - 01:26AM JST And that folks is why you don't go overboard with punishments for things like rape, even child rape. That gets children killed.

So you think these individuals should be let off without any punishment? Because that's where your argument is going. These individuals valued these children's lives so low that they used them as objects to pleasure themselves, then discarded them like rubbish afterwards. How much would be "too much" punishment in these people's opinion? 10 years in jail? 5 years in jail? 1 year in jail?

I would suggest that individuals like these are so self-centered that even 5 minutes in jail or a small fine would be "overboard" in their opinion, and they would kill simply to prevent themselves any inconvenience.

No, lower punishments are not the answer. Neither are longer prison terms, someone who cannot be rehabilitated in 5 years is unlikely to see the light in 10 or even 20 years. People who cannot be rehabilitated need to be dragged out back and shot. This isn't a punishment, it's what I would do to a rabid dog (and I like dogs a lot better than most humans... for one thing dogs are inherently decent). It is about protecting society. If these individuals were given 20 years they'd still be capable of reoffending when they got out, and that isn't acceptable. Remove them from the human gene pool.

Nanda, me too! Poor sisters! RIP

There are no words...

1 ( +1 / -0 )

RIP poor girls. Doing that to a six-years-old girl...why??

1 ( +1 / -0 )

I am just so sick over this. It's been hours since I read it but I still can't wrap my head around it. The hell these angels experienced is just too cruel to express in words. May they rest in peace and may the animals who did this be caught and prosecuted justly.

Steve ChristianFeb. 21, 2013 - 05:15PM JST I think its reasonable to think the guys who did this were afraid of over-wrought punishment given the current climate in India over the bus rape/murder deal.

But they committed the crime anyway? Sorry, that just doesn't make sense. If they were aware of the punishment and did the crime anyway then they're not afraid, they're just trying to avoid any punishment. If this is their frame of mind then even if the punishment was just 1 year in prison they would kill the rape victim in order to minimise chances of their being caught.

But yes, they might just be deranged. I don't know. I just know that most people aren't, and we should play the law toward most people.

I don't know who you hang around with, but "most people" do not rape and kill children. These are not "most people", and trying to argue that is ridiculous.

Neither life in prison nor the death penalty nor any over-wrought punishment has eliminated murder in any country. It has not reduced incidence as far as I have seen either.

Ah, the old "the death penalty doesn't stop anything" argument. Based on flawed research done back in the 1970s and repeated so often it has become regarded as truth. Newer research based on better data shows that at minimum it prevents recidivism (a dead rapist doesn't rape again).

As for your statement about "eliminating murder" ... that's an impossibly high standard since some individuals are mad enough to do it even if they knew they'd be shot dead by police 10 seconds later. One cannot "eliminate" any type of crime.

Males with no prospects, exploited and abused by society turn their hatred on women? Fix the root of the problem.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

Besides the M countries, I am adding India to the list of "not to visit or even stop" countries. Because any revenues generated in connection with my travel would be constitute some sort of support of the system that has failed to rectify the problems.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

How can anyone say no to the death penalty in a case like this? These people are not human. They can't be to do something like this. To even call them animals is an insult to animals.

Great argument for a public castration ceremony.

Steve ChristianFeb. 21, 2013 - 07:28AM JST Sorry, but that is where I stopped reading your post, because obviously, you are not reading mine.

I did read your post in full. My point was that these individuals are so selfish and thought so little of their victims that any punishment, even a lesser one, would still produce the same result, they would kill them out of hand.

Of course I suspect you did read my whole comment, but you just have no come-back, so you decided to be rude instead.

No bickering please.

This SEXUAL CRIME is so vile, so evil and so shockingly hideous! This is precisely why this hateful scourge of evil rapists in your society must be dealt with by the harshest of means and that is the death penalty! The entire world is watching and now fully recognizes the poisonous, depraved, barbaric infestation that is ravaging your country. These animals are worse than the TALIBAN in Afghanistan. SHAME ON THE POLICE for not taking this case seriously and searching for the little girls right away. Even after finding the dead little girls at the bottom of a well, police shamefully called it 'accidental' or 'suicide'. Villagers had to demand action before medical examinations revealed the girls had been brutally raped, sodomized, and murdered. WHAT A TERRIBLE DERELICTION OF DUTY OF INDIA'S POLICE!!

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Police in India, as in many countries, are mostly MEN, so if you have messed up MEN, messed up meaning, lazy, corrupt, perverted etc..do you really think they care about these RAPE VICTIMS?? Maybe India should do what PERU did, put more WOMEN, yes! MORE WOMEN into their police forces, and wow! Many rapists etc..were more terrified of getting arrested by a WOMAN, if you know what I mean, than to get arrested by some lazy, corrupt old fart.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

I feel sick to the stomach. I just can't comprehend the evil one can sink to to do this. I'm still against the death penalty on a strong point of principle, but I will admit that atrocities like this really challenge me on that position.

All I can hope is that these monsters are tracked down, arrested and locked away for good. I also hope that this will breach the dam of silence on sexual abuse and violence against women in India that bit more, and that the voices demanding no tolerance for this state-abetted misogyny will grow stronger and force the government to action.

In the mean time, I hope they rest in peace. They were all far too young, and no one should die like that. No one.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Wonderful democracy! Women are property and this Asian friend respects that. Grow up India and all you idiotic surrounding countries.

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

So you think these individuals should be let off without any punishment?

I guess the words "go overboard with punishments" did not make any sense to you at all.

Sorry, but that is where I stopped reading your post, because obviously, you are not reading mine.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

No Frungy, I really stopped reading.

Look, have you ever heard the expression, "In for a penny, in for a pound"? If rapists get the death penalty same as a murderer, why would any rapist let any victim live to talk? I think its reasonable to think the guys who did this were afraid of over-wrought punishment given the current climate in India over the bus rape/murder deal. But yes, they might just be deranged. I don't know. I just know that most people aren't, and we should play the law toward most people.

Neither life in prison nor the death penalty nor any over-wrought punishment has eliminated murder in any country. It has not reduced incidence as far as I have seen either. Why should it work for rape?

Now, if a rapist knows he will get 5 years for rape, but 20 years for murder, don't you think the average rapist would rather risk five years in jail and let the victim live, rather than risk 20 years killing the victim to cover it up? Yeah, I know it only works if the rapist/killer is not deranged, but you know what? I would like for every rape victim to have whatever assistance the law can provide.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Again, many will make more of the rapes than the murders. And again, the whole of Indian culture will get the blame despite similar crimes happening most anywhere.

This is so disgusting and horrible. But what sickens me most is that the human garbage who did this could not let these poor girls live.

And why didn't they? Might because if they had, they might have been identified. And if identified, you have people demanding the death penalty.

And that folks is why you don't go overboard with punishments for things like rape, even child rape. That gets children killed.
