Tik Tok has quickly risen to the top and so competition like Toshiba or Huawei has been in the past, must be eliminated.
This is how you compete, by improving your products. Tully’s does not spread fear that Starbuck cups are made from materials detrimental to users’ health.
This is the latest attack after the spy ballon. The cranes in container ports spy on what’s going in and out of the US apparently too.
It’s quite entertaining to see what will be next.

CEO Shou Zi Chew's
Interesting. In western media he is referred to as Shou Chew. I guess they can't do that here cause he sounds like Japanese Distilled Liquor.
Anyway, watched some of the grilling on YouTube. They gave him a hard time and good. He was VERY evasive with his answers. Quite a slimeball.

Of course the guy answers to his CCP overlords. Slimeball is too nice of a name to call this man.

Have to pick my words carefully bro. Mods and all.

This is the basic problem with Chinese companies. Some 80% of Chinese business' are considered to have direct, indirect or partial connections to the CCP. And those that do not must act in accordance with China's laws which requires them to cooperate with the government if requested.
China is already waging a quiet latent war with the West and any hardware amd software from Chinese companies poses a potential security threat to the countries that use them.

Are any Chinese nationals in China performing any moderation, engineering, infrastructure or other work for TikTok?
Is TikTok still blocked in China?
Seems that 51% of the company should be held by non-Chinese owners. Just playing by the rules Beijing does.
I feel bad for TikTok using Oracle. I wouldn't wish that on an enemy ... except during war-time. I've had to deal with Oracle a few decades in my career. Never buy anything from them except a DBMS and only if you already have Oracle DBA experts inside your company.

Even if true, do any other countries collect everybody’s personal data. Hint...5 Eyes, CIA, NSA, MI6, etc
(Snowden files, Wikileaks, The Intercept may be a good start for your research.)

Are the American politicians upset because, unlike Facebook and YouTube are known to have done repeatedly, TikTok won't provide user data to America's ridiculously oversized 'domestic intelligence agencies' (secret police anywhere America disapproves of the government) or that, as is apparent to anyone who pays attention, it doesn't tailor its recommendation algorithm to automatically promote the American narrative about international events the way Facebook, YouTube, and Google do.

If it’s dangerous to national security, then there’s little to no choice.

Their nothing the Chinese can do to an American, while on Tik Tok,while American government let bank dictate how you use or access, your money

Governments are concerned that TikTok, which is controlled by the Chinese corporation ByteDance may jeopardize important customer data.

False. China has agents across America keeping tabs on former Chinese, and bullying them, who are now US citizens practicing the free speech rights that everyone on American soil has.
TikTok tracks locations. From that data, an amazing amount of personal information can be gleamed. While I mind location tracking enough not to have a cell phone, others have resigned to allow TikTok, Google, Apple, BookFace, Insta-whatever to have that data. All but TikTok have fought against local govt data requests around the world when they overreach with data requests.
Has TikTok, in a way that can be proven, ever refused data requests by the CCP? The CEO uses wiggle words ... "no connection", all data is inside the US. But he hasn't said that nobody in China has access to the data, since they can't determine or diffinitively say that CCP representatives aren't "working" in Byte Dance's offices, ever.
When a party member shows up to a business, with 2 cops, and asks for access to data in China, the data is provided. Period. Byte Dance needs to prove that cannot happen with any data about Americans.
Let's not forget the ongoing hacks sponsored by the CCP against every American. They got my data in the OPM breech a few decades ago. TikTok is just an easier way to get fed more data and track people dumb enough to load it.

all that really needs to be known about why its not banned and never will be.

They purchased themselves a progressive member of Congress as well.

The Trump administration tried to ban TikTok but two courts in two separate cases ruled the Government did not have the authority to do so.

It is more than that. Any device on which TikTok is loaded is now accessible by the PLA and CCP. If you have a company cell phone with TikTok on it that phone can give them access to your wider company IT infrastructure and you companies trade secrets and financial position.
