Tornadoes are caused by the collision of the cold, dry arctic air with that of the warm, wet Gulf. A warmer Gulf would create more frequent and severe tornadoes - just as it would hurricanes.

Ironically, many in the South don't "believe in" global climate change (I find it interesting how that is so often phrased as a faith question, like "believing in the Easter Bunny"); ignorance may be bliss until Mother Nature and her equilibralizing imperative comes barreling through your town.
