Sounds like you are expecting something bad.
Can’t understand this.
Cards fan
Clearly there must be if Republicans were ignoring them, no?
Blacklabel
I think the actual argument is more around whether there’s such a thing as an unlawful subpoena that can just be ignored.
you kindly confirmed what Adam Schiff now suddenly claims (that there is) and even helpfully gave an example. Good to know!
Blacklabel
It’s critical to identify who “the Big Guy” really is and look at his taxes again. As I can guarantee that 10% he got, how he got it and who he got it from isn’t listed.
“Who is the Big Guy?” is a valid question so we know whose taxes to check.
bass4funk
No, it means that the Dems know they can't scrape the bottom of the barrel anymore by next year.
Nemo
When the argument is “Everybody cheats on their taxes” or “You just wait till we’re in power!” One is really scraping the bottom of the barrel.
bass4funk
Either.
No one cares except a few of the moonbats on the left, let them get their kicks and move on.
Naw, I don't worry about these people, the jokes that they are, but they should have fun. There are more important things to worry about is why the GOP got the House to do what the Dems wouldn't.
Most definitely.
bass4funk
Ok, tit for tat, then both sides should continue this, gotcha....
I agree, just more garrulous babble, but that she didn't become President was a great relief to the nation, dodged that bullet, thanks Comey.
Blacklabel
So basically no in 99.9% of cases if all you can make up is the special counsel being subpoenaed.
were the Lerner and Holder subpoenas “unlawful” too?
i think you realize you made a problem for yourself by saying “lawful” subpoena and now trying to backtrack.
Cause that’s the defense Steven Bannon is using that the subpoena is unlawful. and you just accidentally supported that a subpoena can be unlawful. Oops.
Nemo
In no way shape or form does that answer the question. The question was: “Is he stupid enough to do that?”
You are answering logically as if he were a sentient being and not a narcissistic sociopath.
He’s absolutely stupid enough to do that. The follow-up is “Did he?” We will soon see.
Jimizo
When is the jubilation? Now, or will it come after the tax returns are seen?
Surely it can’t be the latter as you believe Trump is a successful business genius and also clean.
You must be looking forward to seeing the libs disappointed again. This could turbo charge Trump for 2024.
Nemo
Short answer yes. For example, the mental midgets that make up the GQP, could subpoena the Special Counsel Jack Smith and since he doesn’t fall under the preview of Congress (by law no less), he could use the subpoena as toilet paper. Mail it to Kevin (or whoever gets 218 votes) and go about his merry business and the is (____) all that the GQP can do about it.
That is a narrow cut out but they do exist. More frequently someone like Hillary goes up to the Hill in response to a subpoena, testifies so long that I turn off the tv and go to bed, And she’s still sitting there, fresh as a daisy, making Gym Jordan and his band of merry morons look like the illiterate dolts they are when I wake in the AM.
Blacklabel
He won both lawsuits against her, and she is paying him damages. So In short: no.
bass4funk
As if he were the first to do so.
Lol, careful with the Russian accusations, that might come back to haunt this administration in the worst possible way
Yes, in two months there is more to come, can’t wait
How? Convicted of what? According to whom? Legally? Sorry, personal opinions don’t matter.
And the new House won’t save this admin either
How? The media will go gaga about this for a few weeks, beat the story to death, maybe indict him, then try and embarrass him and then be on their way and hope that the egg they shoved into Trump’s face will stick.
Do it so we can get on with this and Trump can start making plans to re-enter the political arena.
Blacklabel
we shouldn’t find anything as they were released for a congressional committee only.
exactly. Which is a criminal act.
Nemo
Was he stupid enough to write off the 160k he paid in hush money to the porn star? (I wouldn’t be surprised if he was exactly that stupid.)
Were there others?
That he thinks there’s not a LOT that can be learned from tax filings (including supporting docs or lack there of) shows just how truly ignorant, dare I say “stupid”, he is.
Perhaps just as he lies about Nick and Milo, he’s never heard of “Forensic Accounting” and like Nick and Milo mistakenly believes it has nothing to do with him….
Superlib
Trump exhausted all legal options and failed. His tax returns were turned over. Not really earth shattering.
Nemo
What we are going to find out is:
For starters, he cheats on his income taxes. we already know this with The NY Times leak a couple of years ago, but the reinforcement will be nice.
A LOT of his revenue comes from Russian sources of dubious repute.
He isn’t worth nearly as much as he boasts - further proof (as if any were needed) that he is a fabulist and a fraud
I bet there is more to come out because trump is the kind of criminal who lies, cheats and steals in ways that mere career criminals cannot even dream of he just sucks at crime and he is an idiot
He is the criminal and political version of the 68 Mets in the words of the immortal Kasey Stengel, he “thinks up ways to lose I’ve never even dreamed of.”
And the change of control in the House will not save him The Documents can be entered into the public record making them FOA items. The Senate has a committee on Taxation that is (checks notes) under a Democratic Chair with very likely a Democratic majority (once Hershel crashes and burns as seems highly likely.) The Senate can just carry on the work.
So congrats, Trump. You’re life just got less pleasant and that’s a pretty high hurdle to clear

Only if this guy is a leftist; "So, there are five people taking the Fifth Amendment. Like you see on the mob, right? You see the mob takes the Fifth. If you're innocent, why are you taking the Fifth Amendment?"
https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-invokes-fifth-amendment-after-saying-the-mob-does-that-2022-8
Of course, after saying this, HE took the Fifth over 100 times when questioned under oath by the NY AG, proving his own self-assessment was right on target...
ROFL...
Cards fan
lol No, that was Trump when talking about Clinton pleading the 5th. Democrats then mocked Trump for then pleading the 5th.
I just want Republicans to hold themselves to the same standards they hold Democrats. It's rather rich seeing Republicans clutch their pearls when Schiff says he'll have to see how valid a subpoena is before he agrees to comply.
What I can tell is that congress getting Trump's taxes was based upon the idea have 3 coequal branches of government, and that they have oversight over each other, and Biden's kids aren't in congress, so they're not getting his tax returns.
lol Really? This investigation that hasn't even begun will tell us why Biden must release his taxes, but Trump doesn't? lol Okay.
Blacklabel
so whats the law say? did anyone who refused to comply get a free pass to not comply like Dems did?
I look forward to any Dem who refuses a subpoena being indicted, as that is how it has been the last 2 years for anyone else except Dems.
equal system of justice.
Cards fan
lol What? Pleading the 5th is a constitutional right; Ignoring a lawful subpoena isn't.
lol What? His kids aren't in his administration. That's not up for debate.
Oh yes, it's likely much, much worse, which is why Biden released his tax returns. Something Trump didn't do :D
Wait a minute, I thought Trump didn't have to, so why does Biden?
Republican hypocrisy at it's finest.
lincolnman
Really, this potential tax fraud case is the least of Trump's legal worries....and that's saying something...
Special Counsel Jack Smith will soon indict Trump on the stolen classified documents case - especially now that Trump gave him an open confession this past week;
"they took with them, but not nearly so openly and transparently as I did."
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/donald-trump-admits-i-did-steal-the-documents/ar-AA14Fzs5?li=BBnb7Kz
Smith no doubt thanks the ex-President for the confession....that along with Trump's lawyer's certification in writing that all classified was returned, then even more found a month later gets him dead to rights. It's now just a matter of is Trump continuing to lie and is there more classified stored at Trump's other properties and who else was given access to it...
Maybe Trump will decide to "openly and transparently" confess to his attempted coup too....ROFL...
Blacklabel
So what is the over/under on how many days before we start seeing articles about the leaked contents of Trump's taxes?
bass4funk
Schiff was asked recently once the GOP resumes power again he was asked, if the GOP launches their own investigations and if he were to be subpoenaed, would he comply, and he stated that would depend on what the subpoena would be or look like.
So he demands Trump to comply with all subpoenas, but he himself would have to ponder whether he would comply with one were he be called to testify under oath. Very very telling as usual.
Blacklabel
Yep, responding to subpoenas is back to optional again. Likely the same for court orders like the one that required the Trump taxes to be given to Adam Schiff to immediately leak to the WaPo.
bass4funk
I actually don’t either, get them out, libs can get giddy, get the jubilation out of their systems and hopefully they can move on to something that is more important like curtailing out of control crime, rising inflation costs, the border and energy crisis.

And we'll no doubt get more confirmation that he is what Steve Bannon so artfully described him in Wolff's book;
In the book, Bannon predicts investigations into his finances will reveal to his supporters that he’s not some incredible self-made billionaire, but a crook. “This is where it isn’t a witch hunt—even for the hard-core, this is where he turns into just a crooked business guy, and one worth $50m instead of $10bn,” Bannon is quoted as saying. “Not the billionaire he said he was, just another scumbag.”
https://www.thedailybeast.com/bannon-trump-will-fall-when-people-realize-hes-just-another-scumbag
Rarely would I agree with the Deacon of Dumpster, but here he hit the nail on the head...
Jimizo
Trump has been saying he’ll release his tax returns since before he became president. He said they’ll show his success as a businessman and that he’s clean.
I don’t see the problem here.

Trump daily tries to play the Artful Dodger but frequently gets caught out.
bass4funk
Which makes no difference to any US voter
I don’t think anyone cares. Get it out, gloss over them, make comments and move on, at least that chapter will be closed.
Bob Fosse
I’ve said it before and will undoubtedly have to say it again. Non US citizens will criticise some aspects of the US and post about it here on JT. There is nothing you can do about it.

The Treasury Department said Wednesday it has complied with a court order to make former President Donald Trump's tax returns available to a congressional committee.
This is a matter that might or might not be a concern for Americans and American voters.
Bob Fosse
All the hits!
Why would he promise to do something so many times and then block it from happening so many times? Odd.
