Well if you want to go that route:

52% voted for a left wing party (liberals, NDP and Green)

39% voted for a right wing party (Conservatives and PPC)

8% voted for the Bloc, which doesn't fit neatly on the left/right spectrum. On economic issues its left, on cultural issues its right but not in a way that is aligned with the other conservative parties.

1% voted "other".

And the grassroots People's Party which the CBC refused to acknowledge even exists came out of nowhere to get close to a million votes.

I just watched the CBC's livestream, they gave extensive coverage to the PPC and Bernier.

Well, looks like every part has almost exactly the same number of seats after the election as it had before the election.

Lets just go the full four years before going through this stupid thing again, OK?

$600m for what? To be in exactly the same position as before. Trudeau's ego knows no bounds and he loves to waste hard earned taxpayers money. Potentially four more years of narcissism. Not to mention the super spreader event organized by the very people who are supposed to be protecting the public.

What do you think should O'Toole have done the democratic thing, declared the election a fraud, and try to build up a group of successionists to overthrown the Canadian government? You've been supporting your Dear Leader on this, is it also what you would counsel the Canadian conservatives to do as well?

Unfettered leadership can be beneficial at times - China, a country of 1 billion people, stomped out their covid issue in a way countries that have to balance multiple view points could not. However, when governments have to govern by coalition, while it makes for more dialogue and slower progress at times, my opinion is that it includes more viewpoints into the mix, making for better decisions in the long run. This is one reason why you see many Social Democrat countries have higher happiness levels and less economic disparity that other countries.

I don't think that Canada is planning on moving any time soon, so this pondering doesn't seen to add anything to the conversation. Canada is next to the US, and while the US has a strong economy, Canada will benefit. They will probably also feel pain if the US economy sinks, for the same reasons. As neighbors their economies will always be closely intertwined.

Terrible news for hard-working Canadians with families. Still, funny Trudeau still couldn't win a majority!

Okay, prove, I'm wrong. Productivity in the US is a whopping $17 more an hour than in Canada.

Now we know the price of one ego- 600 million dollars. Weeks that could have been better spent helping Canadians were instead spent waging a pointless election. Still, congratulations to PM Trudeau. I can only hope that he takes to heart some lessons from this unnecessary waste of time and treasure.

Time for the Conservatives to ditch the liteLiberal approach and find a leader with some charisma and fire in his belly. Scheer wasnt it. OToole wasnt it. Can we ask for Mad Max to come back?

Trudeau has succeeded in slicing and dicing the country into angry little groups that are at each others' throats.

If Canada wasn't next door to the US the economy would be a "good" as Venezuela. Year after year of low or no productivity growth and rising inequality in wealth, opportunity and access to education can only be papered over by a rapid rise in housing costs artificially created by all levels of government keeping housing supplies low for a limited time. The summer scenery is nice but Canada is becoming a loser country.
