Trump and the neo-cons (see Eliot Abrams, Pompeo etal) in his admin are using the virus to create even more enemies for their followers to fear while finding more ways to distract from their inability to get an early handle on it.

Some people chose to attack those who are trying to stop PEOPLE from transmitting the Novel Virus to other PEOPLE. Any help should be appreciated. This action isn't costing Trudeau any money or manpower, but it could prevent infected people from crossing the border. Maybe Trudeau hopes to lessen the number of infected people Canada's healthcare system would have to provide treatment for? Maybe Trudeau just wants to blame Trump for something? Maybe Trudeau is hoping to get senile ol' Joe elected POTUS?
Chip Star
Who is the person trying to stop people from transmitting the virus? You aren’t seriously referring to Donny “Everything is alright and this is a democratic hoax/Take theses unproven medicines” Trump, are you?
Strangerland
I would think it would be Americans trying to escape into Canada, rather than the other way around.
Will the Americans stop their people from getting out as well?
bass4funk
As if we care what Trudeau thinks. Lol

I think most US business people do care about US/Canada relations.
bass4funk
Yes, but with this virus running amok, they also understand the President will do whatever he thinks is necessary to protect the nation, that’s why his poll numbers continue to shoot up and if Trudeau doesn’t like it, oh, well....

"Business people" vs Trudeau's rant about where the U.S. should be allowed to station it's troops. I think you have confused the two.

The world is currently fighting a war against a pandemic.

Please remember that any move made by the current occupant of the White House is part of the non-stop reelection campaign that started on November 8, 2016.

According to whom? Anyone in a position of authority?
Are you referring to National Guard units, or the U.S. military? Posse Comitatus?

Meanwhile in Canada, the hashtag #NoCanadian is trending as Canadians scratch their heads and wonder what Trump is thinking, because no Canadian in their right (or wrong) mind is looking to leave Canada, with its free healthcare, for the chaotic USA during a pandemic.
This idea only makes sense if you realize it's all about telling his base that he's all about strong borders.
Meh. Waste of US resources, but maybe it'll keep infected Americans from sneaking into Canada in search of affordable prescriptions drugs.
Strangerland
It's got me scratching my head too. I don't get it, what's the rationale?
It's like if someone was telling me that the purpose of the Berlin wall was to keep people out.

Saving lives? It's not rocket science.
Strangerland
How? How are any lives saved from putting troops at the Canadian border?
SuperLib
You'd have to he an idiot to think that sending troops to the border is necessary, useful, or proper.

People in Canada also have the virus? It's not rocket science.

Sure, Super, it's fine to have our troops in other countries helping them to secure their borders but it's not OK for them to help secure our own borders. You'd have to be an idiot to think otherwise.
bass4funk
You'd have to be a complete fool in not taking the outbreak seriously.
Beanie
Serrano,
do you think for a minute that there is anyone in Canada trying to illegally enter the USA at the moment?
Beanie
As a Canadian, I think, great. Help keep us safe by keeping your own people in, at no expense to us. We’ll save our troops for practical uses like to setting up mobile / temporary hospitals.
Chip Star
Sonce Donny didn’t take it seriously for weeks, you’re calling your hero a complete fool. ROFL!
Chip Star
Good thing this isn’t a logical inference from Super’s post.
bass4funk
I think so, very.
Strangerland
So? People all around the world have it. How does positioning troops at the border save lives? Your answer didn’t answer that.
Strangerland
Why would anyone be sneaking into the US from Canada?!?! That’s daft.
Chip Star
You won’t get an answer from any of Donny’s fans that think this is a great idea because there is no answer as to how it saves lives because it doesn’t.
bass4funk
Protects from people coming or going, we call that monitoring.
Chip Star
One troop for every 5.5 miles is a great way to protect people from entering, if you live in the conservative bubble where ignorance-driven fear rules.
Sneezy
Seriously, no Canadian is going to trade their universal healthcare for the substandard third world-level care that the majority of Americans get.
