Everything Trump does getsba thumbs down from democrats. He could rollout a new social program and it would get a thumbs down from democrats.

Why do you say that? Plenty of democrats were happy with his decision to withdraw military from syria, they liked bits of his SOTU, and a few other things here and there. You don't really keep up with what's going on, do you?

Everything Trump does getsba thumbs down from democrats. He could rollout a new social program and it would get a thumbs down from democrats.

Not just the Democrats, as referenced in the article.

Trump wants more than $8 billion for the barrier with Mexico, and he's also asking for a big boost in military spending. That's alongside steep cuts in health care and economic support programs for the poor that Democrats — and even some Republicans — will oppose.

Can't blame people on both sides for having a conscience. Trump's not serving the citizens, he's punishing them.

10 ( +11 / -1 )

alongside steep cuts in health care and economic support programs for the poor

Meanwhile the rest of the developed world goes quietly on, decade after decade with healthcare that's:

half the price

just as good

universal

Flawed as it is ( too much money for the military ) at least Trump is not proposing a program like AOC's Green New Deal that will cost $93 trillion and end the system that has lifted more people out of poverty than any other in history - U.S.-style capitalism.

-12 ( +1 / -13 )

paid family leave is bad now?

Making up numbers doesn't help your argument...

Not sure the gnd is a good idea but it might cost 93 trillion dollars over the course of 150 years maybe. You wanna see poverty, just keep supporting Trump. It's coming if he gets his way...

6 ( +7 / -1 )

paid family leave is bad now?

Is this the only thing you can come up with?

2 ( +4 / -2 )

Oh so, I guess it IS bad now, cause Trump wants it for the American people.

Is this the only thing you can come up with?

-10 ( +2 / -12 )

"The president’s budget also has a few items that could get bipartisan traction. Those include proposals to bring down prescription drug prices, require some family leave time, increase funding to fight HIV and AIDS, and start increasing spending on infrastructure."

Need more?

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

Oh so, I guess it IS bad now, cause Trump wants it for the American people.

I don't think paid family leave is bad. I think cutting our education funding and compromising healthcare for a wall is incredibly stupid.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

There are more things in the budget than just a wall. Why focus only on that?

The wall is 8 Billion of a 4.7 TRILLION budget. Who cares?

-12 ( +1 / -13 )

Oh so, I guess it IS bad now, cause Trump wants it for the American people.

So you are ok with Trump hurting the future of America by ruining our children's education and destroying more families who can't pay for healthcare because you think a wall is more important than Americans. Got it.

5 ( +8 / -3 )

He promised to balanced the budget. He has less than 2 years to do it now...

4 ( +5 / -1 )

There are more things in the budget than just a wall. Why focus only on that?

The wall is 8 Billion of a 4.7 TRILLION budget. Who cares?

Yea, so he's cutting education funding and compromising health care for the 8.6 billion though.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

@tumbledry

Yea, he's screwed.

He can't get a balanced budget because he screwed up the trade deficit even more than it was before and now he's stuck himself in a campaign promise corner. The whole budget was about his campaign promise to build the wall. Hence the title promises kept...blahblahablah

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Now had the Democrats said, they support it, I would’ve fallen flat on the floor in disbelief and amazement! I mean, seriously....

-11 ( +1 / -12 )

Enormous cuts to medicaid and medicare

Huge cuts to social security

Massive cuts to SNAP and other welfare programs

Very large cuts to student loans

Giant cuts WIC nutrition program (guess he wants to kill off children after all)

Need more?

4 ( +5 / -1 )

It’s funny when Democrats talk about budgets and they didn’t care one iota when they were in power. For 8 years when it came to entitlements the Dems didn’t shy away from any cost which led to massive premium hikes and Trump ending the dreaded mandate. Now to be fair, both sides really don’t care about the deficit which is sad, but for liberals to put in on Trump’s lap is hilarious.

Enormous cuts to medicaid and medicare

Huge cuts to social security

Massive cuts to SNAP and other welfare programs

Very large cuts to student loans

I'm all for it.

Giant cuts WIC nutrition program (guess he wants to kill off children after all)

Need more?

There are millions of people that die everyday and some are THE most healthiest people on the planet. I’m definitely not buying that argument, it all depends on various factors, overall health, family history, exercise etc. So many kids rejected Michell Obama’s lunch program. Once again we have big government trying to tell people how to eat and how to live. Sickening!

-9 ( +0 / -9 )

I'm all for it.

Because it takes away from the poor, the less well-off. Tell me, would you be in favour for tax hikes for the rich, an end to all their entitlements like inheritance etc?

Once again we have big government trying to tell people how to eat and how to live. Sickening!

I'm more than happy for the rich to down endless foie gras and hamberders. If they want to shorten their over indulged lifespans, that's all well and good.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

The 8 billion for the wall prevents having future healthcare and education costs for 100s of thousands of non citizens. Spend 8 billion to save 100 billion.

Or will Dems debt healthcare and education to illegal immigrants? No, right?

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

Maybe the Trumpists should stump up for the wall, add their dollars to the crowdfunding effort?

Since Mexico isn't going to pay.

Why is that, btw, and why did you all say that it would?

5 ( +6 / -1 )

It’s not even about money. It’s just Dems hate “the wall” because Trump gets re-elected if it is even somewhat built.

Pelosi and Schumer will deny that 8 billion and won’t bat an eye when they instead add 30 billion for foreign aid to some country we don’t even care about. Or for some diversity or identity politics initiative.

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

Because it takes away from the poor, the less well-off. Tell me, would you be in favour for tax hikes for the rich, an end to all their entitlements like inheritance etc?

No, I just believe in privatization of the healthcare system. However, for the very poor, I do think we need to make a system for the absolute poor that have absolutely no other way of receiving adequate healthcare, but the rest, no.

I'm more than happy for the rich to down endless foie gras and hamberders. If they want to shorten their over indulged lifespans, that's all well and good.

As if having a tofu, sesame seed diet will help you live longer. Lol

-10 ( +0 / -10 )

Maybe the Trumpists should stump up for the wall, add their dollars to the crowdfunding effort?

Since Mexico isn't going to pay.

Why is that, btw, and why did you all say that it would?

I agree, but the Trump supporters won't because they really don't want the wall. They're just stuck in sheep mode.

Trump said Mexico would pay because he knows his supporters are complete idiots who would believe him.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

We can only hope Trump's dumb enough to run on these ideas in next year's election. Dumping them in a budget that's DOA is one thing, running on cuts that would disproportionately hurt poor white people in the Rust Belt and Appalachia--good luck with that.

"A Pew Research Center poll in April 2017 found that just 3 percent of Democrats and 10 percent of Republicans want to reduce spending on Social Security. The survey found that 5 percent of Democrats and 15 percent of Republicans want to spend less on Medicare."

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-03-07/trump-revives-old-battle-cry-against-2020-democrats-socialism

5 ( +5 / -0 )

No, I just believe in privatization of the healthcare system.

Ordinary people can't afford private healthcare, the crippling costs that can ruin them. They need affordable care, at the very least. The rich can afford a system like that.

As if having a tofu, sesame seed diet will help you live longer. Lol

Let then eat cake, rotfl, lol, etc

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Now to be fair, both sides really don’t care about the deficit which is sad, but for liberals to put in on Trump’s lap is hilarious.

You and others were hammering Obama non-stop for spending too much and talking about bankrupting the country. It was red alert.

Now, Trump is doing the same and it is...sad.

Fiscal conservatives. Smh.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

You and others were hammering Obama non-stop for spending too much and talking about bankrupting the country. It was red alert.

Now, Trump is doing the same and it is...sad.

And Trump has taken the deficit to the next level of bad thanks to his reckless trade policies etc.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

I agree, but the Trump supporters won't because they really don't want the wall. They're just stuck in sheep mode.

I dunno if the sheep/sheeple terminology is helpful but some of them certainly don't seem to know exactly what they want. And the Trump elitists will warn them that access for all to education and healthcare is a bad thing. Because if the people ever got wise, if they saw how the ruling classes wanted to keep them in their places, well... it serves the rich to promote division, demonize migrants and continue with racist rhetoric. That way, the people can be distracted as to how they're being shafted.

Black, white, brown, mixed, gay, straight, Christian, Jew, Muslim etc - the ordinary people are indoctrinated to fear equality/unity and yes, socialism. That's how the rulers rule. Divide and conquer.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Let’s spend some more money studying racist air pollution instead of building a wall.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2019/03/11/air-pollution-inequality-minorities-breathe-air-polluted-whites/3130783002/

Article says nothing about the government spending tax dollars on the research. Private researches used government data to study this on their own accord. As a Trump conservatism supporter, against socialism of any kind, you have no right to say what a private entity can use its money on to research.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Google “who funds National Academy of Sciences”.

About 85 percent of funding comes from the federal government through contracts and grants from agencies and 15 percent from state governments, private foundations, industrial organizations, and funds provided by the Academies member organizations.

there is your potential education and healthcare money hard at work identifying racially divisive pollution.

Why do you feel they ONLY the wall money is preventing education and health care?

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

So my point is that the funding for the wall isn’t “taken” from anything else. It’s a minor amount of money that doesn’t prevent anything else from being funded.

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

Google “who funds National Academy of Sciences”.

What, so the government should control what universities let the students or professors research now too?

How much more communist do you want to get?

there is your potential education and healthcare money hard at work identifying racially divisive pollution.

I guess maybe they should be studying the effects of brown on white?

Why do you feel they ONLY the wall money is preventing education and health care?

Because we should be working on those problems before building a stupid wall.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

there is your potential education and healthcare money hard at work identifying racially divisive pollution.

blacklabel basically saying, "Hey guys, we should cut university funding because there was a study on the pollution in minority areas!"

4 ( +4 / -0 )

@blacklabel

It seems like you are 100% supportive of censorship in the media, education, and everything else. Why is that? You think universities should be limited to teach what the government allows now, you've expressed your support for Trump in banning left wing media. How much further would you like to see America turn into a red communist nation?

Moderator: Deadforgood and blacklabel, please stop bickering.

"The president’s budget also has a few items that could get bipartisan traction. Those include proposals to bring down prescription drug prices, require some family leave time, increase funding to fight HIV and AIDS, and start increasing spending on infrastructure.

All socialist policies!

No they did not. Trumps withdrawal from Syria got a lukewarm reception at best. The democrats have mostly opposed it, calling it irresponsible. There was a resolution in the senate condemning it. "Liked bites of his SOTU"? And what does that amount to exactly. I'm sure a few dems liked his tie as well. Someone needs to stop watching so much MSNBC.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

paid family leave is bad now?

More creeping Socialism!!!! Run!

4 ( +4 / -0 )

You wanna see poverty, just keep supporting Trump. It's coming if he gets his way...

So far we're better off with Trump's policies. I think I'll stick with reality.

You wanna see poverty, just keep supporting AOC. It's coming if she gets her way...

It is hilarious given it used to be conservatives screeching about fiscal responsibility.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

What sort of fool slits the throat of his own country's future by slashing funding for education & healthcare and encouraging environmental pollution? Does he want a filthy country full of dumb Morlocks?

Yeah. Get rid of the EPA

Amazing how some people actually want to live in a dump.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

No, I just believe in privatization of the healthcare system

So do I, which is why I would never use the military healthcare system.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Ordinary people can't afford private healthcare, the crippling costs that can ruin them. They need affordable care, at the very least. The rich can afford a system like that.

For the 22 million that don’t have it, there are thousands of ways you can change the system so that it can provide adequate and quality healthcare for the underprivileged. There is absolutely No reason why the private healthcare insurance needs to be altered or even eradicated. There are over 87 million people that enjoy their employee healthcare care coverage.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

You and others were hammering Obama non-stop for spending too much and talking about bankrupting the country. It was red alert.

You said it Jim, NON-STOP!

Now, Trump is doing the same and it is...sad.

Not with entitlements, thankfully.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

So what else is new? Everything related to Trump gets a thumbs down from the establishment politicians in both parties, the corrupt corporate media, and the deep state.

(And, alas, the gullible viewership of CNN et al.)

How about some news for a change?

-2 ( +2 / -4 )

You and others were hammering Obama non-stop for spending too much and talking about bankrupting the country. It was red alert.

You said it Jim, NON-STOP!

Yes. It was non-stop. You said it was going to bankrupt the country. Trump is continuing this spending.

Not with entitlements

Oh, I see. Out of control spending that will bankrupt the country is okay as long as it isn’t spent on healthcare or things like that.

Thanks for clearing that up.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

(And, alas, the gullible viewership of CNN et al.)

How about some news for a change?

Everybody switch over to Fox?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

I merely said the EPA is toothless and has become nothing more than a barking dog, which is true.

Quelle surprise! The current head of the EPA is a former coal industry lobbyist, who you'll be completely unshocked to hear doesn't believe that the people he lobbies for are in any way to blame for climate change. He is also VP of the Washington Coal Club, which sounds like a great place to hang out. The previous Trump-appointed kleptomaniac Scott Pruitt was an oil-funded lawyer and climate change denier who spent $5 million a year on his own security amongst other in-agency heists.

So you have two men from the very depths of the swamp who represent the industries primarily responsible for environmental pollution in charge of the agency tasked with protecting the environment! What result did you expect? You couldn't make this madness up, and you support this corruption.

And who's encouraging environmental pollution?

You are.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Yes. It was non-stop. You said it was going to bankrupt the country. Trump is continuing this spending.

Yes and I also specifically said, that the insane socialist programs the Democrats are pitching would completely ruin the country. I advocated for fixing and patching the healthcare system in areas that need to be fixed, NOT overhaul the system completely.

Oh, I see. Out of control spending that will bankrupt the country is okay as long as it isn’t spent on healthcare or things like that.

I never said that, but we do need to desperately update our military, I know have this notion that if you look away our adversaries will just ignore us, but I assure you, that’s liberal delusional fantasy at its worst.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Yup!

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

but we do need to desperately update our military, I know have this notion that if you look away our adversaries will just ignore us, but I assure you, that’s liberal delusional fantasy at its worst.

Your adversaries, or rather, the enemies of the American people are at the top, in the swampy government, in Moscow and in the Murdoch media.

How will the military deal with them? A coup, perhaps?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

More tax cuts for the 1%, paid for with cuts in spending that would actually keep America healthy and strong. Putin must be lovin' it.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Your adversaries, or rather, the enemies of the American people are at the top, in the swampy government,

Believe me I wish the Democrats would leave with their entitlements.

in Moscow and in the Murdoch media.

AOC, Bernie and the entire DNP.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

Believe me I wish the Democrats would leave with their entitlements.

Like farm subsidies?

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Yes and I also specifically said, that the insane socialist programs the Democrats are pitching would completely ruin the country. I advocated for fixing and patching the healthcare system in areas that need to be fixed, NOT overhaul the system completely.

None of this changes the fact that you excoriated the previous president for running up the deficit and debt, but give Trump a pass.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

AOC, Bernie and the entire DNP.

I mentioned Murdoch and Moscow. Please do tell us how AOC, Bernie and the entire DNP are connected to Putin.

Again, I prefer a strong and powerful military, Democrats want a water down version, they hope China and Russia will overlook that fact. Entitlements can’t keep the country safe.

Your crumbling country will be safe only when Trump is deposed and the elitists are swept away.

Better build some more jails, sharpish.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Believe me I wish the Democrats would leave with their entitlements.

Do you actually read other posters' comments or just dive in with the Dems/liberals/socialists/Marxists?

I was referring to the government. Not the previous government - the current one.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

I mentioned Murdoch and Moscow. Please do tell us how AOC, Bernie and the entire DNP are connected to Putin.

Spliff colluded with the Russians, you didn’t hear him trying to talk to some Russian sources that supposedly had some juicy goods on Trump.....but sadly turned out to be a prank. Poor Spliff got punked. There is your collusion, so yes, you have a member of the Democrat party trying to collude with a Russian...even though it was fake.

Your crumbling country will be safe only when Trump is deposed and the elitists are swept away.

Ok, so we get rid of the Socialists and then what?

Better build some more jails, sharpish.

Wouldn't be enough to house all Democrats.

Not aware of anyone called "Spliff", is this a feed from bizarro world again?

Ok, so we get rid of the Socialists and then what?

Eh, did you read the post? I'm talking about Trump. Is he socialist now, or is this an attempt at gaslighting?

Wouldn't be enough to house all Democrats.

Ah, it's gaslighting. Or I'm talking with someone who hasn't progressed beyond schoolyard banter. Can you address the concerns mentioned in my previous posts or is your whole argument "the Dems"?

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Just wanted to confirm that the Trump supporters here are all on private healthcare and not some government backed program.

5 ( +6 / -1 )

Are the Democrat socialist capitalists now?

Crikey, Trump's education cuts are already working. What can of logic are you drinking tonight? How about not slashing it's budget or not appointing corrupt people who work for the worst polluters to its top job? You know, maybe fix it instead of abolishing it? Who else will do the job if it isn't there?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

What?https://www.sfchronicle.com/opinion/openforum/article/Democratic-policies-have-made-California-poorer-12253618.php

4 ( +4 / -0 )

How about not slashing it's budget or not appointing corrupt people who work for the worst polluters to its top job? You know, maybe fix it instead of abolishing it?

If you want the worst polluters, see "China." U.S. coal is much cleaner than Chinese coal.

Who else will do the job if it isn't there?

The individual states? Nah, has to be a one size fits all federal program!

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

Wen your deflection is 'We're not as bad as China', you need to reassess your position.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

If you want the worst polluters, see "China." U.S. coal is much cleaner than Chinese coal.

You're all over the place tonight big fella. The EPA has no influence over Chinese environmental policy. And US per capita by far exceeds China (although they are 'catching up').

The individual states? Nah, has to be a one size fits all federal program!

Cool idea, they can all compete to become the dirtiest place in America in return for corporate $. I wonder which state will become the national dumping ground?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

For the vast majority of Americans, the economy under the Trump administration has been TERRIBLE. It's a disgrace.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

I said you wouldn't like it, Chip. I guess the Washington Post doesn't have any credibility either, lol...

Post all the articles you want about kids complaining because their school lunch is gross, but it does nothing to change the fact that food being healthy is not dependent on one's geograohical Location. HAR! Oh my . . . Tee Hee!

3 ( +3 / -0 )

I’m serious. Do you liberals really have any solutions besides wanting to steer the country down the path of socialism because it’s not going to happen.

You'd have to ask a liberal. Not giving tax breaks to the super rich and stealing from the poor would be a start. Why does the far right loathe the poor so much?

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Don't worry guys, the Dems have a better idea: the Green New Deal!

And I thought Trump was the one trying to covertly sabotage the country...

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Not just the democrats... I really wish they'd stop it with the partisanship BS. But the GOP has always been about "Us vs 'Them'" mentality who ever they decide to make the "them".

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Social programs and healthcare are state issues. Military defence spending needed to keep things in check. If the Left wingers prefer Russia or China watching over the world they should move there. US has the most generous immigration programs in world. Dems just looking for votes from illegals. Have to enter legally. Not sure why the lefties from western nations moved to Japan and then complain about immigration in the US. Try walking into Jland or overstaying your visa here. You know what'll happen.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

If the Left wingers prefer Russia or China watching over the world they should move there.

More binary think. "If you don't like what we do, it must mean you like the how Russia and China do it".

Um no, that's not how real-life works.

US has the most generous immigration programs in world.

I suppose that this could be true depending on your meaning of 'generous'. But I suspect you just put it out there as rhetoric, not with any actual qualification behind it.

I mean, it's harder to get a visa in America than say Japan. Harder than in many countries.

Dems just looking for votes from illegals.

More rhetoric not based in reality.

Have to enter legally. Not sure why the lefties from western nations moved to Japan and then complain about immigration in the US.

How exactly are these two points supposed to connect? You dropped them there as if we are supposed to see it, but I'm not.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Not giving tax breaks to the super rich

So you think income redistribution is the way to go? Punish the job creators? Washington State did that and they’re still paying for it.

and stealing from the poor would be a start.

So stealing from the rich will level the playing field? It won’t work.

Why does the far right loathe the poor so much?

Why is it that liberals hate the very people that create jobs? And if the liberals cared so much about the poor, then why they allow the homelessness problem to get out of control, why do they allow open borders and support sanctuary cities? Why is it that liberals especially the ones in Hollywood and big tech industry the richest of people on the planet are hypocrites want the rest of us to live a certain way (control) but they themselves enjoy the life they want for them and their children at any cost. Liberals are so difficult to discern.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

So you think income redistribution is the way to go? Punish the job creators? Washington State did that and they’re still paying for it.

Not giving tax breaks to the super rich has zero to do with income redistribution or job creation. Let's try to stay focused.

So stealing from the rich will level the playing field? It won’t work.

Nobody has suggested this.

Why is it that liberals hate the very people that create jobs?

Only the ones you've made up do.

And if the liberals cared so much about the poor, then why they allow the homelessness problem to get out of control, why do they allow open borders and support sanctuary cities?

You simply can't control yourself when it comes to working in your irrelevant talking points.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

So you think income redistribution is the way to go?

No, having those who benefit immensely from a society also paying their fair share into society is a responsible, healthy society. It's the weird messed up line of thinking that this is 'income redistribution' that is responsible for America having as large an income discrepancy as 3rd world nations, rating very low in the first world countries as far as quality of life is concerned, and rating very low in the happiness index.

Punish the job creators? Washington State did that and they’re still paying for it.

It's not punishment, nor is Washington state paying for it.

Once again you show that real information cannot penetrate the bubble.

Trump's 'MAGAnomics' gets a thumbs-down from Democrats

Of course it does. Everything Trump does gets a thumbs-down from them.

He could cure cancer, AIDS, heart disease, and the common cold, while literally ending world poverty and war singlehandedly and all on the same day -- and his political opponents would still hate him. That's what they do.

No matter what he does, his political opponents will hate him anyway because they still haven't recovered from the fact that he became president and Hillary Clinton did not.

They haven't gotten over it, and by all appearances, they never will. Which, of course, isn't very mature.

No, that is not correct. I've given Trump credit for things he's said and done, and I've seen multiple other posters do this on this site as well. Credit where credit is due, criticism where criticism is deserved.

Contrast this with Trumpets however, who only praise, and can never condemn Trump.

A trillion dollar in tax cuts for him and his buddies, and a trillion dollars in cuts in health care for seniors. Coincidence?

Strangerland,

No, No, No! Military spending is required. Live with it. I'm not saying start wars but be prepared.

Visas set up for jobs/through companies no different. Green card level, starting a new life...Can't even compare. Numbers not even close. How about Japan's refugee program? Not much of one, eh?

You condemn his immigration policy (Which is law-just not enforced by other admins) often.

Plenty of facts available.

Iglenn,

State issues not federal.

Ann Coulter is in hiding, til her hair grows back in :)

Trump is the first president in decades to actually follow through with what he campaigned on.

Once again, just like with SK, the Trumpets show that they think history started when Trump became president.

Dumpster Don keeps howling about his stupid wall. He don't care about anything else. He's proven that he is unworkable with. It's time for Congress to impeach and remove this ill-mannered crybaby.

Congress has failed the American people on border security.
