This is exactly why so much of Trump's behavior is wholly unacceptable:

Now, as president, Trump's words carry the weight of an office that has long helped guide the nation's moral compass and defined the American ideal for millions around the world

19 ( +23 / -4 )

Worth repeating:

"A giant of a man does not need a proclamation from a small man like Donald Trump,"

14 ( +21 / -7 )

His son in-law and chief advisor is a slavic Jew, kinda hard to peg him as a racist.

So it's all or nothing for racism, Right. Got it.

20 ( +28 / -8 )

he stunningly questioned why the U.S. would admit Haitians or people from "s...hole" countries in Africa, expressing a preference instead for immigrants from Norway, a majority white nation.

beats me why anyone from Norway would want to move to America - their living standards are so much higher than the US....

36 ( +39 / -3 )

Racist, not racist?

I know this: if we argue about it, no one's talking about Trump being a super stable genius anymore. Funny how that works. In fact, its kind of the text book example of race baiting. Or Red Baiting. Or Jew Baiting.

Its the scumbag's ultimate political trick. And its either from the heart or just plain cynical. And in my book, anyone who uses that kind of scumbag tactic who just does it for cynical political games is, well, in the end no different than a true-blue racist scumbag. In short, no matter how you cut it, Trump words and actions here are

deplorable.

And Trump will spew some more and more crap as his, admins...[bluh], as his aministra.. [bluhhh]... Sorry.

as his time in office continues.

'Cause he's a crap leader. And when he screws up again, or he is getting impeached or indicted or just starting a war, or something equally stupid, he will call some a ni**er, straight up.

And all his defenders will tell us that's not racist. 'Cause rap music and all the stupid reasons they will give on this thread.

Deplorable.

And if you gather all of Trumps little defenders together, you know what you got?

you got yourself a basket of deplorables.

21 ( +28 / -7 )

@rBush His son in-law and chief advisor is a slavic Jew, kinda hard to peg him as a racist.

One example doesn't make the case he's not a racist; there are too many other examples suggesting he is. In Russia and Eastern Europe, are Slavic people considered a race? In the US, they aren’t. Arguments persist as to whether Jewish peoples can be considered to be a ‘race’ (see link below). And anyway, I thought Kushner was American.

http://www.jewfaq.org/judaism.htm

12 ( +15 / -3 )

Black comes out swinging. Well put.

7 ( +10 / -3 )

And anyway, I thought Kushner was American.

You clearly do not understand how it works. When we want to proclaim how great America is because its multicultural, etc.; Kushner's just an American.

When we want to hold him up as some sort of evidence that Trump is not racist, he's a Slavic Jew.

Make sense?

15 ( +18 / -3 )

"On Friday, he offered a vague denial of his comments to lawmakers, tweeting that he said nothing "derogatory" about Haitians. "

And yet, people who were at the meeting have tried to defend his statements. If he didn't say them, why would they be defending him. I think we all know this is just another lie from Trump.

14 ( +19 / -5 )

There is no debate. Trump is definitely a racist.

The only people who don't accept this are the people who don't want to own the racism that was inherent in the act of voting for him.

11 ( +21 / -10 )

He isn't a racist. He simply stated a fact.

-25 ( +6 / -31 )

When we want to hold him up as some sort of evidence that Trump is not racist, he's a Slavic Jew.

The poster I responded to was making his usual point, which is Trump's 'chief advisor', as he calls him, is beholden to and a tool of Netanyahu-land. The racism part he mentioned was to pour more fuel on the fires and to be seen to be staying on thread. He's well-trained.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

His son in-law and chief advisor is a slavic Jew, kinda hard to peg him as a racist.

I'll bet every single lib on JT passed that comment, judging by the responses.

"On Friday, he offered a vague denial of his comments to lawmakers, tweeting that he said nothing "derogatory" about Haitians. "

Did you hear the actual tape? Also, he was talking about certain 3rd world countries and NOT the people. Relax, it's the weekend.

And yet, people who were at the meeting have tried to defend his statements. If he didn't say them, why would they be defending him. I think we all know this is just another lie from Trump.

People can misinterpreted words, happens all the time.

There is no debate. Trump is definitely a racist.

Then that means so are his haters as well as people like Nancy Pelosi who gets a pass as in typical liberal fashion.

The only people who don't accept this are the people who don't want to own the racism that was inherent in the act of voting for him.

Actually, it's the other way around, the racists are the people that think insult and make derogatory statements, but get a pass when they do it to whites, then racism doesn't apply. That kind of thought process in itself is being selectively racist.

-22 ( +5 / -27 )

Trump's own words revive debate over whether he's racist

I thought the matter was already settled. He is.

15 ( +22 / -7 )

@Nostromo: exactly what I thought. Why does he believe someone from Norway would emigrate to the US, when Norway has way better standard of life than the US? I doubt this man knows the world.

11 ( +13 / -2 )

It took him over a day to defend himself. It took him over a day to deny saying "***".

When it takes over a day before you notice that you're getting bad press its a given that the subsequent denial is a lie.

He had to wait for "Fox and Friends" to tell him to walk it back. Literally.

8 ( +12 / -4 )

@Alex80 Maybe Trump's just flattering Norwegians because his global property empire wants to build golf courses there, and thinks by doing so he'll have an easier time of it. Trump, remember, cares first and foremost for paying off his debts to international 'financiers' and increasing his personal profits.

9 ( +11 / -2 )

exactly what I thought. Why does he believe someone from Norway would emigrate to the US, when Norway has way better standard of life than the US? I doubt this man knows the world.

Why would they want to emigrate when they can live in a country that is the crown jewel of entitlements and freebies. Long vacations, nanny state, less work, high taxes, having the US take care of their military, what's not to like.

-19 ( +5 / -24 )

Everyone knows Teump is racist. Some people support it, some people don't. Not really rocket science.

13 ( +17 / -4 )

@bas4 having the US take care of their military, what's not to like.

I know you believe 'facts are subjective', but the article below, from Janes no less, says differently.

http://www.janes.com/article/75015/norway-increases-defence-spending-reinforces-northern-forces

8 ( +10 / -2 )

Justin Trudeau operates a points based immigration system in Canada which is deliberately designed to keep the majority of these same people Trump is complaining about out. Does this make Trudeau a racist?

Is it inherently racist to want limits on immigration from failed states? Or is it racism only because most failed states in existence at the present time just happen to be non-white?

-7 ( +6 / -13 )

Hmm, I thought Trump was a straight talker. That's the way his peons were talking yesterday before he denied it. So which is it now guys, is he a straight talker, not a straight talker, or a liar?

13 ( +16 / -3 )

Is it inherently racist to want limits on immigration from failed states? Or is it racism on

Very good point.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

Everyone knows Teump is racist. Some people support it, some people don't. Not really rocket science.

He is? So what about Nancy Pelosi and her comments the other day? She's a racist as well, right? Or you want to be selectively bias in your condemnation?

I know you believe 'facts are subjective', but the article below, from Janes no less, says differently.

$148.7 million is a lot to give to the nation of entitlements, they get the best of our military and updated gear. Another reason you can feel calm and safe in Norway, our military technology will keep you safe and warm at night.

-20 ( +2 / -22 )

His son in-law and chief advisor is a slavic Jew, kinda hard to peg him as a racist.

Not that hard at all. No one hates every race - look at the KKK, they like white people. Some races have a few more groups they are accepting of, while still hating others.

9 ( +11 / -2 )

I'll bet every single lib on JT passed that comment, judging by the responses.

The very next poster commented on that nuggets. I bet every single con on JT passed the responses.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

He's a racist.

10 ( +15 / -5 )

He is?

Yep.

10 ( +14 / -4 )

Not only a racist, but a sexual predator, totally illiterate, a delusional paranoid schizophrenic, probably a manic depressive, Bi Polar definable. All these are Trumps good points. It's all downhill from there.

A bully and a thug. Look at his children and wife, they just do not want to be there anywhere near this man.

Impeachment is to good for this tyrant. Put Trump in front of his judicial system, see if he can buy his way out of this series of crimes.

There is a movie in this.

12 ( +16 / -4 )

Countries are not a "race".

Debate over. . . .

-18 ( +4 / -22 )

Justin Trudeau operates a points based immigration system in Canada which is deliberately designed to keep the majority of these same people Trump is complaining about out. Does this make Trudeau a racist?

There is not a single question that discriminates based on country of origin. Prejudice is not a part of the Canadian immigration system.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

It’s certainly confusing to see a politician who claims to be the least racist person around retweet white supremacists and dodgy videos from racist headbangers in the UK.

I just feel the least racist person around would avoid such putrid trash.

12 ( +13 / -1 )

Maybe before the election last year or shortly thereafter there was a debate. II can' see how there could be any debate now. Those who condemn racism are now 100% certain that he is racists. And those who are racists must be 100% sure he's "one of us".

13 ( +13 / -0 )

I will stay out of the "racist" debate and just say that if he said these words in this type of meeting he is stupid.

He is not qualified for his term in office as he has pissed off much of the world. It is an interesting comparison looking at Trump and Reagan (I am going to refrain from discussing whether Reagan's ideas were right or wrong). Reagan held ideas which were not popular and sometimes controversial however Reagan was able to communicate ideas without inflaming the world and actually was respected by world leaders (even those that appeared to be his "rivals") at the end of his term.

Trump, however lacks any of these qualities and often sounds more like a middle school kid.

What further irritates me is although I hold many liberal views, I do believe that immigration into the U.S. needs to be controlled better. As the poster "M3M3M3" eluded to above many other nations have immigration systems which are much stricter than the U.S. and we should follow in their path.

Unfortunately. our so called commander in chief lacks the ability to communicate in any effective and mature manner and has pretty much set back the immigration argument due to his inability to control himself.

An unqualified man was elected to office and now they are talking about more unqualified people for office for the next election. I hate to say it but the U.S. is going downhill fast (it is amazing the underlying tension I could feel when I went back for Christmas). Japan seems to be an OK place to be at the moment

10 ( +12 / -2 )

I sincerely doubt that Trump making these atrocious statements about Haiti on the 8th anniversary of the Haiti earthquake are a coincidence. Trump has a history of kicking people when they're down, just like all cowards do.

10 ( +10 / -0 )

Two of the Republican lawmakers who participated in the meeting, Sens. Tom Cotton of Arkansas and David Perdue of Georgia, said they "do not recall" Trump's derogatory comments about Africa

A slug has got more spine (and probably better morals and recall) then these two pathetic individuals.  But then when you look at where these two deplorables come from it is hardly surprising.

9 ( +10 / -1 )

It makes the goals we hope to accomplish overseas much more difficult to accomplish.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

Justin Trudeau operates a points based immigration system in Canada which is deliberately designed to keep the majority of these same people Trump is complaining about out. Does this make Trudeau a racist?

@M3, imo Canada or Oz immigration systems are about 'who you are' rather than 'where you come from'. It's easier for a wealthy/educated Haitian, Afghan, Congolese etc doctor or nurse to move to oz than it is for a us/western euro citizen whose job isn't in high demand, for example. Not saying it's more ethical but I don't think it is 'racist' per se (elitist, opportunist, unscrupulous - yep). They are unashamedly poaching highly skilled individuals from their sometimes/often resource-poor nations.

I think no one would have a problem with Trump (unfortunately I have to say) if he had said he wanted to attract the right ppl & skills, but he made it a country/culture issue. Agree with you though, there's a lot of hypocrisy flying around.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

@SuperLib - Agreed....well stated in a short and concise manner

Burning BushToday 06:49 am JST

His son in-law and chief advisor is a slavic Jew, kinda hard to peg him as a racist.

At my family dinners, there was always a guy trashing people of color, saying things like "there are too many blacks in our country !". And then he would give one example of a "good black" or "good arab". That doesn't change his racism.

Just like saying "I'm not racist, but..." doesn't make you less racist.

Just like saying there are good people among a population after insulting them, doesn't cancelled what you said.

Just like having a jewish son in law doesn't make you not racist.

Plus, Jared Kushner is white.

12 ( +13 / -1 )

oh so your an expert on Norway now been there I suppose got friends in high places there..ROLF kudos oh my right back at you homie .

I don't have to be an expert to know that Norway is a nanny state and that Somalia, Haiti and El Salvador are countries that no one would want to visit, go on a honeymoon and enjoy all the wonderful offering these countries have.

I'll bet every single lib on JT passed that comment, judging by the responses.Yep because race and religion do happen to be 2 different things in case you didnt know.Lets rename the site and call it EB educating bass.*

I don't need education to know the left live in hypocrisy. So let me ask you, when you think about traveling abroad, Somalia comes to your mind first or Norway? I wish some of you libs would go to Somalia, because if you did within 24 hours you would want to leave immediately. Has nothing to do with the color of the skin. Just because I would never recommend someone to visit Somalia, Haiti or El Salvador doesn't mean I hate the people or the entire continents from where these people come from. Took your shot and misfired! Keep trying dude.

I sincerely doubt that Trump making these atrocious statements about Haiti on the 8th anniversary of the Haiti earthquake are a coincidence. Trump has a history of kicking people when they're down, just like all cowards do.

Would you have felt better if Trump would have made those comments privately? Kicking the country down? The country has been down for a very long time. That country is so overly corrupt. But we have to say, it's a wonderful country. You guys are not living in reality.

-14 ( +2 / -16 )

Not only a racist, but a sexual predator, totally illiterate, a delusional paranoid schizophrenic, probably a manic depressive, Bi Polar definable. All these are Trumps good points. It's all downhill from there.

Anymore left wing allegations? Are you equally as outraged by Pelosi's racist comments she made the other day? What about her mental stability?

A bully and a thug.

That's a bad thing.

Look at his children and wife, they just do not want to be there anywhere near this man.

How would you even know that? This is what I'm talking about, the left just make stuff up?

Impeachment is to good for this tyrant.

How would you do that?

Put Trump in front of his judicial system, see if he can buy his way out of this series of crimes.

There is a movie in this.

Who would direct it, Michael Moore? ROFL

-14 ( +2 / -16 )

There is not a single question that discriminates based on country of origin. Prejudice is not a part of the Canadian immigration system.

Exactly!! well said Bububu4!

3 ( +4 / -1 )

Are you equally as outraged by Pelosi's racist comments she made the other day? What about her mental stability?

I understand where you are coming from on this, but I think you are taking her remarks out of context; she was commenting on who wasn't on the DACA negotiations (i.e. any minorities) rather than who is on it (i.e. five white men). I do sympathize with your wider point, which is that white men increasingly feel they are unable to express an opinion without being labelled racist.

So in Trump's case, I do believe he is a racist, but the 'sthole' incident isn't necessarily a racist comment. After all, some places are stholes. Whether or not a man elected to the highest office should be talking like that is another question.

Not for you of course Bass, you've long since absolved him of all future sins.

10 ( +10 / -0 )

@econstats Police shootings, riots, natural disasters, street protests, crime....that could never happen in a place like, say, America, could it?

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Two senators who were at the meeting, David Perdue and Tom Cotton, are now on record as saying they did not hear President Trump use that term in the meeting.

So, who do you believe? Dick Durbin, a guy who on the senate floor likened our military in Iraq to Nazis and Pol Pot, or Tom Cotton, an Iraq war veteran?

No contest. . . .

-13 ( +1 / -14 )

Two senators who were at the meeting, David Perdue and Tom Cotton, are now on record as saying they did not hear President Trump use that term in the meeting.

As if the left and the left media care about an opposing point of view. Ha! That will be the day.

-18 ( +0 / -18 )

Isn't it also "racist" when those rushing to slag off Trump assume that Norway is a homogeneous, white country, when it is not? They also assume that all Africans are black, which isn't true either.

What is true is that Haiti and many African countries are dumps. They are dumps because they are ruled by corrupt dictators and their thieving relatives who enrich themselves whilst their people starve. However, just because the countries are dumps doesn't mean that all of the people living in them are deadbeats. Given the opportunity those countries could be wealthy but, alas, anyone criticising their way of doing things would also be condemned as a "racist" and a cultural imperialist etc.

-3 ( +4 / -7 )

But we have to say, it's a wonderful country

Nobody is saying this at all.

Trump's off to Florida again this weekend. Nothing like cramming as much tax payer money into your own pocket as possible. Thanks, President I'm too busy golfing.

@Slickdrifter

Excellent post.

Isn't it also "racist" when those rushing to slag off Trump assume that Norway is a homogeneous, white country, when it is not? They also assume that all Africans are black, which isn't true either.

I don't think that liberals know really what racism really is.

However, having a Jewish chief adviser and allowing your daughter to convert to Judaism kinda seems out of character for a White Supremacist doesn't it?

Why? Where exactly is this rule that being racist/bigoted/white supremecist requires hating more than one group?

7 ( +7 / -0 )

So, who do you believe? Dick Durbin, a guy who on the senate floor likened our military in Iraq to Nazis and Pol Pot, or Tom Cotton, an Iraq war veteran?

Nice spin there.

I believe and respect Dick Durbin, a guy who spoke out against the torture going on at Gitmo (not against the entire US military, as you falsely claim) against Tom Cotton, a guy who wrote a letter to the Iranian government undermining an agreement that successfully put Iran's nuclear program under the verifiable auspices of the international community. Fighting in Iraq doesn't automatically make your actions as a senator respectable.

Besides, Cotton and Perdue did not claim Trump never said "sh". They claim they never heard those words, which is a "clever" (i.e. weasly) way of lying, since we can never prove how much wax they had in their ears that day. You figure these guys are going to go against Trump and piss off their base of zealots?

If Trump truly did not say those disgusting things, why is the White House not officially denying that he did?

8 ( +8 / -0 )

I'd guess he falls within the bell curve of those of his generation. That still does not mean his attitudes are appropriate for an American national leader in the 21st century.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

The usual defense from Trump supporters when he does something idiotic or morally reprehensible:

a) It didn't happen. It's a lie. Fake news. Dishonest media. Deep state!

b) So what if it did happen? Trump tells it like it is!

c) What about Dems/libs/Hillary/Pelosi?

11 ( +12 / -1 )

beats me why anyone from Norway would want to move to America - their living standards are so much higher than the US....

Oh, so you think Norway is less of ....hole than those other contries? Does that make you a racist or white supremacist?

Trump's choice of words was not ... presidential, but I don't see what was racist about it.

Anyway, I would rather have the media focus on WHY countries like Haiti are not doing well. Hint: the Clintons had a lot to do with it.

-8 ( +3 / -11 )

His son in-law and chief advisor is a slavic Jew, kinda hard to peg him as a racist.

He's also white and extremely wealthy.

Japanese has a plethora of profanity, though unlike English, few are taboo. Accurate translation of American presidential utterances is important, so how to render "sh!thole" presented a problem. One couldn't simply use a direct translation as it wouldn't convey the sentiment. The consensus seems to have settled on 便所のように汚い国 (countries that are dirty like toilets).

4 ( +4 / -0 )

So why do you think that everyone that comments against Trump is left just for the record im not and have mentioned this before in previous posts

Sure you have some on the right Slickdrifter is one, the difference is, you can dislike a person without all the vile rude and repugnant remarks to make a rational point, but the left can't do that, for them it's how low can you go and how nasty can you be.

..as for hypocrisy we see enough of it coming from Trump supporters..

and even more coming from the left as well as the media.

This is what I'm talking about, the left just make stuff up?

No, I only said, you took a shot and it didn't work. Nothing derogatory about it.

Well there is one poster on here that comes to mind regarding altering facts making up stuff and pretty sure hes a Trumpster..

Who?

I believe and respect Dick Durbin, a guy who spoke out against the torture going on at Gitmo (not against the entire US military

Another political tool. Big mouth, whiner and a coward. So what do you think about him calling our military Nazis or being like Pol Pot?

-14 ( +0 / -14 )

He's also white and extremely wealthy.

Ben Carson is Black and extremely wealthy.

That's actually a pretty good translation.

The ‘sh##hole’ description certainly isn’t the smoking gun when talking about Trump’s alleged racism, although it certainly wasn’t what a US president should be saying. The immigration debate, including a discussion about the countries where immigrants are coming from might be awkward, but it is necessary. Trump’s idiocy doesn’t help in a reasonable discussion.

I’d just like to ask those defendi ng Trump if they have ever retweeted or quoted white supremacists or any other known racist groups to support an idea. Decent people tend not to do this. The fact that he retweeted very questionable videos from a steaming trash right fringe in the UK makes it even more revolting.

I suppose you could argue he’s an incurious balloon head who doesn’t check anything but Trump supporters don’t tend to go down that path.

8 ( +9 / -1 )

plasticmoney - right on.

That's pretty much how any debate with a Trump supporter goes.

a) deny!

b) declare - so what!

c) diverge - what about others?

11 ( +12 / -1 )

The ‘sh##hole’ description certainly isn’t the smoking gun when talking about Trump’s alleged racism, although it certainly wasn’t what a US president should be saying.

Is there a law which states he should not?

The immigration debate, including a discussion about the countries where immigrants are coming from might be awkward, but it is necessary. Trump’s idiocy doesn’t help in a reasonable discussion.

If he did say it like that at all.

I’d just like to ask those defendi ng Trump if they have ever retweeted or quoted white supremacists or any other known racist groups to support an idea. Decent people tend not to do this.

Question, but who are you to determine what or who is decent?

The fact that he retweeted very questionable videos from a steaming trash right fringe in the UK makes it even more revolting.

Why was it bad to retweet? I understand if the tweet originated from him, but it didn't.

I suppose you could argue he’s an incurious balloon head who doesn’t check anything

A balloon head that completely put the country on an economic rocket supernova!

slavic Jew, oh dear another person who can tell the difference between race and nationality. Trumps racial slur was in describing African / Haitian countries, none of which made up of the Caucasian race. The only reason Trump doesnt show his dislike of Jews is they feed him the money and his daughter is married to one.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

slavic Jew,  oh dear another person who can tell the difference between race and nationality. Trumps racial slur was in describing African / Haitian countries,

Exactly, he was describing the Haiti. And it's not an African country, the people inhabiting the country originated from Africa, but you're trying to tell me, it's a paradise?

none of which made up of the Caucasian race.

And?

Racism has been around a long time, from the days of the Neanderthals.

To name a few Africa, the middle East, India's Untouchables, let's not forget Japan's Burakumin.

Believe it or not - the world is becoming a better place with diminishing racism, slowly but surely.

What slows the betterment down are those that keep fanning the raciest fire.

So Trump's in a meeting regarding a hostage situation in Pakistan, and an expert happened to be both female and of Asian descent. (Ironically, both are from New York). And of course Trump couldn't wait to display his ignorant prejudices.

The man just cannot help himself. He does not belong as president in the 21st century.

His political rise was powered first by his promotion of lies about Barack Obama's citizenship, then by his allegations that Mexican immigrants to the United States were rapists and murderers.

So Trump's in a meeting regarding a hostage situation in Pakistan, and an expert happened to be both female and of Asian descent. (Ironically, both are from New York). And of course Trump couldn't wait to display his ignorant prejudices.

I think the people that complain the most about Trump's alleged racist tendencies have problems of their own with signs of subliminal racist stereotypes.

The man just cannot help himself. He does not belong as president in the 21st century.

Some might say that, others not.

-13 ( +0 / -13 )

I understand the ignorant, insensitive, poor excuse for a human being that chump is, but what is hard to understand is the people who support him.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

I'd rather hear Trump use politically incorrect language than see the hypocritical Dems do more damage to the country.

-9 ( +3 / -12 )

I think the people that complain the most about Trump's alleged racist tendencies have problems of their own with signs of subliminal racist stereotypes.

When first in Japan back in '92 and interviewing for a job, I was asked where I was from. America, I reiterated - it was stated on my resume. No, he asked: originally. My answer was the same. He persisted: your ancestors. Like most Americans with family there extending back generations, it is not only a question impossible to answer - it is impertinent, and potentially illegal.

I don't call Trump "Drumpf" and suggest he be assigned to the German desk (he'd be rightfully very angered). Is it really too much to hold the American president to an equal standard?

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Even if you do agree with him that certain places are 'sh's does that means it's fine to discriminate against all of the people coming from those countries and closing legal immigration to them?

It's never a good thing to judge solely by appearances. But the merest glance at the photo at the top of this article should be enough to convince anyone that here is a visage radiating warmth, humanity and a shrewd intelligence.

Any suggestion that such an abhorrent phrase could be uttered by such sweet lips is utterly risible....

5 ( +5 / -0 )

I really wish people would stop being offended by his words. If you know what to expect, then it shouldn't bother you. This is not your typical President, and that's what those who support him wanted.

As I've written many times before, everyone is a racist to some degree. EVERYONE! For some, it becomes apparent through their words. For others, it's through their actions. Unless you are willing to open the doors of your house to help an immigrant/refugee from Africa or Haiti or someone of a race other than yours, then you are a racist. Or what kind of moral compass guides you? And spare me the excuses - I don't have the space. I don't have the money. I don't trust strangers living in my house. If your actions don't back up your words, then spare the judgments about this Prez.

-11 ( +0 / -11 )

Do you really need any more evidence? His words and actions over the years speak for themselves.

Harcore Trump supporters will defend the man to the nth degree. Wait until he's caught dropping the n-word. They will still support him and find all sorts of reasons as to why the word isn't offensive.

The man is an out and out racist. That's not to say everyone who voted for him is.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

The fact that he retweeted very questionable videos from a steaming trash right fringe in the UK makes it even more revolting.

Why was it bad to retweet? I understand if the tweet originated from him, but it didn't.

A racist fringe group posting dodgy racist material - bad.

The president of the US retweeting this dodgy racist material - no problem.

Got it.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

I really wish people would stop being offended by his words.

I really wish he wasn't such a liar and an imbecile. I'm not offended, I'm embarrassed for the country.

Unless you are willing to open the doors of your house to help an immigrant/refugee from Africa or Haiti or someone of a race other than yours, then you are a racist.

Wonderful logic, Straw man fallacy demonstrated beautifully. I've heard it before here. It's the 0% / 100% thing isn't it? The Paris agreement won't fix climate change, so it's not worth trying. Or controlling guns won't stop all gun deaths, so why bother?

If your actions don't back up your words, then spare the judgments about this Prez.

If my actions do back up my words, am I allowed to judge him?

8 ( +8 / -0 )

I really wish people would stop being offended by his words.

Likely he does, too - neither of you seem to get it. Merit-based immigration (as opposed to mercy-based) is a legitimate argument, but merit comes from an individual, not a race. There are "sh!thole" countries (usually with poor government histories and few resources) with fine people, just as there are well-governed countries with "sh!theads." American regions are identical.

And, yes, language does matter. Trump has just truncated the world into two geographical spheres. Certainly, many of his supporters rejoice at this, but it is not what America is.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

@Bububu4

There is not a single question that discriminates based on country of origin. Prejudice is not a part of the Canadian immigration system.

@goldorak

@M3, imo Canada or Oz immigration systems are about 'who you are' rather than 'where you come from'.

The points system is not origin neutral just because it doesn't explicitly penalise you for your country of origin. In reality, it is impossible to separate who you are from where you come from.

How many points will you score if there is no longer a functioning university in your country or if its degrees are no longer recognised overseas due to corruption? How many points will you score in the employment history category if you have never held a job due to rampant unemployment or decades of civil war in your country. How many points will you score based on your spouse if women in your country are never educated let alone taught to speak a foreign language? The points system is designed to keep these people out but does it in a really neutral and PC way.

There is no debate. Trump is definitely a racist.

Then that means so are his haters as well as people like Nancy Pelosi who gets a pass as in typical liberal fashion.

Oh man, you guys are totally losing it. This is hilarious! Yeah, sure man, why not just decide what I post means the exact opposite of the words I wrote for no reason at all? That makes a lot of sense to a crazy person.

This:

As if he needed more money.

in no way at all refutes that Trump bilks the tax payers by doing this:

Trump's off to Florida again this weekend. Nothing like cramming as much tax payer money into your own pocket as possible. Thanks, President I'm too busy golfing

It is a perfect example of intentionally attempting to divert attention from the issue.

Yes, Trump has a lot of money. That, however, was not the point being discussed. This is a perfect example of showing Trunp's actions go against a supporter's core believes and having the support change course.

Trump rips the tax payers every time he goes to one of his properties. Full stop.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

clippety - I'm not embarrassed because he doesn't speak on my behalf. He stated his opinion. And that's that.

So your opinion is he is an imbecile. Lots of people of think that. So if you've made that judgment long ago - and I suspect you have - then there's nothing to be offended by. He is who he is.

And if you want to pass judgment on him, then prove you can do better. Open your home to someone from Africa or Haiti. Nothing straw man about that, just a challenge. He ain't no saint, but are you any better?

Yes, if your actions back up your words, then I will be the first to say to the world, "This person follows his/her moral compass with actions, not by mere words or judgment of others."

Laguna - "... it is not what America is" - Those Americans who support his immigration stance would beg to differ.

Let me make this clear. Stop wasting your time being offended by him, or any of his kind. Instead, do what YOU can do to "make the world a better place," whatever your vision of that is. There is nothing the Donald is doing preventing you from accepting a refugee into your home. Go on! Follow that moral compass of yours.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

Exactly, he was describing the Haiti. if you read anything about what he said he was referring too African countries & Haiti which is why so many African people are angry at his racism. Saying hed prefer immigrants from Norway. Why would Norwegians with a higher standard of living affordable healthcare childcare lower crime and civilian deaths and one of the happiest countries in the world want to migrate to the USA, theyd be going backwards in their standard of living.

3 ( +4 / -1 )

As I've written many times before, everyone is a racist to some degree. EVERYONE! but when you have a world leader opening stating racist ideals it tend to rub off onto the public, Germany wasn't a particularly racist country until Hitler came along, then 60million people died.

0 ( +3 / -3 )

The points system is not origin neutral just because it doesn't explicitly penalise you for your country of origin.

The point system for qualifying as a skilled worker to immigrate to Canada is absolutely and unequivocally country of origin neutral. You have no idea what you are talking about. Furthermore, if you cannot qualify as a skilled worker there are still ways to qualify as an unskilled worker or as a refugee.

In reality, it is impossible to separate who you are from where you come from.

seriously? Outright discrimination is fine then I guess in your opinion.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

As I've written many times before, everyone is a racist to some degree. EVERYONE!

It doesn't matter how many times you write it, doesn't make it true.

Unless you are willing to open the doors of your house to help an immigrant/refugee from Africa or Haiti or someone of a race other than yours, then you are a racist.

Are we to take it then that you personally have opened the doors of your house, albeit only to refugees of your own race, whatever that is? What kind of moral compass guides you?

CNN Sally Kohn:

"Trump is kicking 200,000 Salvadorans out of the United States and forcing them back to a gang violence-ravaged and impoverished disaster zone."

Wow, if there were only a shorter way to say that? Maybe a one word description of such a place that the people cant possibly be expected to return to?

0 ( +4 / -4 )

Countries are not a "race".

Debate over. . . .

Up there with "there's no such thing as 'race' so it's not racist" or "he can't be racist because I have a Jewish friend" and that sort of going.

His son in-law and chief advisor is a slavic Jew, kinda hard to peg him as a racist.

And Hitler admired the Japanese, so does that mean we can't be pegged as a racist? Absurd.

What Trump said it's not strictly racist, but it fits a pattern along with other comments he has made which have also been on the margins and which suggest that even if he is not an out and out racist, makes him pretty close to one. After all, not every Trump voter was a racist but every racist voted Trump.

So what about Nancy Pelosi and her comments the other day?

Who is this woman and why do you keep banging on about her, bass? I can't be bothered to Google her, but I doubt she is known outside the USA so is irrelevant to this discussion.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

@Bububu4

The point system for qualifying as a skilled worker to immigrate to Canada is absolutely and unequivocally country of origin neutral. You have no idea what you are talking about.

Let me repeat my question since you seem to have missed it. How many points will you score for education if you come from a failed state where the schools and universities were bombed during the civil war? Not enough I imagine. The fact that the system is explicitly neutral on your country of origin doesn't mean that people from failed states are on an equal playing field with Norwegians. Do you deny this?

Outright discrimination is fine then I guess in your opinion.

I'm simply highlighting the reality that the surround of our countries are what allow us to earn points. The people in failed states are discriminated against by the Canadian or Australian points based system far more than they are by the US system. If Trump proposed an end to programs like the diversity lottery and implementation of the Canadian system in America, would you oppose that? It seems to be all he is aiming for.

Furthermore, if you cannot qualify as a skilled worker there are still ways to qualify as an unskilled worker or as a refugee.

There are no Canadian or Australian embassies or consulates in the worst failed states in Africa. Nor can you just board a flight to Canada in hopes of claiming asylum if you hold a passport which requires you to obtain a visa first.

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

The fact that the system is explicitly neutral on your country of origin doesn't mean that people from failed states are on an equal playing field with Norwegians. Do you deny this?

Yes, I absolutely do deny this. And I repeat, you have no idea what you are talking about! The point system you are describing applies to only one of four categories that immigrants can obtain when they are admitted to Canada. Since 2015 alone there have been over 48,000 Syrians who have immigrated to Canada. There are immigrants in Canada from almost 200 countries, including hundreds of thousands of people from places that you seem to be describing. I suggest that maybe before you start making false equivalencies to try and support your viewpoints you take a second to actually educate yourself about what you are talking about.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Cleo - It doesn't matter how many times you write it, doesn't make it true.

Present the proof that it's not true. Otherwise, you just wasted 13 words.

"Are we to take it then that you personally have opened the doors of your house, albeit only to refugees of your own race, whatever that is? What kind of moral compass guides you?"

Of course I don't open my doors. But I don"t bash Trump. I don't claim to be of a "higher" moral standard. If you think you are above someone else morally, prove it. Not with words, with actions.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

Do you really need any more evidence? His words and actions over the years speak for themselves.

tough as nails and unapologetic!

Harcore Trump supporters will defend the man to the nth degree. Wait until he's caught dropping the n-word. They will still support him and find all sorts of reasons as to why the word isn't offensive.

But it’s somehow ok if they say it, especially every other word in rap music is N-this and P-this and B-that, that’s ok, but when they use profanity towards whites that’s ok? Now who’s making the excuses?

The man is an out and out racist. That's not to say everyone who voted for him is.

Well, I’m not a racist and I don’t believe Trump is, however, I do believe Trump is saying what a lot of people say behind closed doors and that doesn’t make it better, but again, I dare anyone on this site to take a trip to Somalia, when I went there, almost every journalist that was on assignment from every major network has called it exactly what the President called it, the difference, he’s just up front, bold and in your face, other than that, everyone in their heart knows those places are exactly what the President called them.

Germany wasn't a particularly racist country until Hitler came along, then 60million people died.

Then you don’t know German history. Germany has had deep nationalist tendencies way before Hitler came onto the scene and to this day still do, very much so. Just because they’re part of the European community doesn’t mean they are less racist. If anyone thinks that, then they are really foolish.

Why would Norwegians with a higher standard of living affordable healthcare childcare lower crime and civilian deaths and one of the happiest countries in the world want to migrate to the USA, theyd be going backwards in their standard of living.

And they like our money as well. Especially when it comes to national defense, It’s a nanny State, of course they’re happy, they don’t mind paying high, high taxes, also they have a very small population. I don’t envy the Norwegians and I don’t want to be like them, nice country, but that’s it.

-10 ( +1 / -11 )

And, yes, language does matter. Trump has just truncated the world into two geographical spheres.

Yes, he did and?

Certainly, many of his supporters rejoice at this, but it is not what America is.

Ok, that’s your opinion, but I guarantee if you go to those countries, you’d be singing a different tune and I agree with the President, but it has nothing to do with the people, you can separate the two, loathe a country, but love it’s people, but I guess liberals can’t distinguish between the two, but don’t tell that to CNN and msnbc because it seemed like they were battling each other who could say that the most.

CNN said it 37 times! Actually, a lot of people complained to the FCC about it. But I get it, they need the ratings, so fire away.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

@Bububu4

Yes, I absolutely do deny this. And I repeat, you have no idea what you are talking about!

Again, you deny it but refuse to answer my question. I'll ask it a final time. How many points do you get if there is no longer a university in your failed state because the building has been destroyed and all the professors have fled to Canada as skilled immigrants?

The point system you are describing applies to only one of four categories that immigrants can obtain when they are admitted to Canada.

This is smokescreen. The points system is the only game in town for the vast majority of people trying to enter Canada. But let's look at the 4 categories just to debunk them:.

1). Family Member - This is a huge category for both the US and Canada (and also very controversial when it comes to the fairness of chain migration), but how many people in desperately poor failed states have a close relative living in Canada who would be eligible to sponsor them? Less than 0.1% maybe?

2). Refugee - a temporary status for people seeking protection from persecution. The vast majority of people in failed states are suffering from poverty rather than persecution by their government, and thus not entitled to any refugee protection. In any event, the application can only be made if you make it to the Canadian border. People from failed states cannot board a flight to Canada unless they have a visa, or are lucky enough to be plucked from a UNHRC camp.

3.) Other - Includes people who might not qualify for refugee status but are nevertheless in need of protection. (ie. unaccompanied children, people persecuted by non-state actors, people fleeing civil war, and so on). A relatively small and exceptional category.

4.) Economic migrant - This is the points system which assesses candidates on things such as education, work experience, language proficiency, age, etc. But as you mentioned, there does seem to be a temporary visa for unskilled workers if they can arrange a temporary job with a Canadian employer before they arrive and have that employer go through the process of sponsoring you and certifying that they weren't able to find a local hire. If you think people in the poorest countries in Africa can arrange this, you are really optimistic.

Compare all this with the US system where they take tens of thousands of random people on the diversity lottery. No educational screening, no work experience needed, no language skills required.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

It is infuriating how racist people are on both sides of this discussion. Trump for refusing to look at people as individuals - which after all is the point of using an immigration points system instead of quotas by country. And for Dems who infuse race in every aspect of public policy through affirmative action. The lack of self awareness and cognitive dissonance on both sides for racialist views is astounding. There is always an excuse for racism regardless of party affiliation.

Yes, there are countries in the world that are crappy compared to places like Norway or Japan. It’s okay to see reality for what it is. It’s why many countries warn their citizens about traveling to some places overseas. For the purposes of immigration however, it should be about the content of ones character instead of the color of their skin. In short, if you use national origin as a proxy for race or if you support policies that use race as a proxy for qualification, you are part of the problem.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

Trump is a racist bigot, and if you defend him on this, so are you. That's all there is to it. The people who love what he said most are David Duke and other White Supremacists. No surprise this is his base, and others who defend him are just as bad as they are. Period.

Wolfpack: "which after all is the point of using an immigration points system instead of quotas by country."

The people of Nigeria, per capita, hold more bachelor's degrees and are better educated than people in the US, and why would Norwegians automatically qualify, as Trump suggests, if it's merit-based?

Laguna - "... it is not what America is" - Those Americans who support his immigration stance would beg to differ.

First, I'd remind you that "those Americans" now do not contain 67% of the country.

While in college, I visited Tijuana by car (I was driving) with Thui and Sven. The former was an American citizen of Vietnamese descent; the latter was a visa-overstayer surviving on the LA part market but was white and wearing sunglasses and an aloha shirt. One question to him would have betrayed his origin - he couldn't have pronounced a "j" if a gun had been pointed at his head - but guess who got grilled (American citizen of Asian descent!) and who was waved through (illegal white European guy!) - not particularly surprising.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Trump is a racist bigot, and if you defend him on this, so are you.

I don't think he's racist and you can't call people racist without proof, I do think that Trump might be misinformed a bit, but that doesn't make the man a racist.

That's all there is to it.

No, you're injecting your personal opinion into this

The people who love what he said most are David Duke and other White Supremacists. No surprise this is his base, and others who defend him are just as bad as they are. Period.

David Duke? Omg, a White Al Sharpton, this guy is an opportunist and will seize on anything that even remotely looks like it favors whites. No one cares about Duke, he's just another has been loon trying to get back into the game of long, long ago.

The people of Nigeria, per capita, hold more bachelor's degrees and are better educated than people in the US, and why would Norwegians automatically qualify, as Trump suggests, if it's merit-based?

There are a lot of pilots around the world as well and can fly a plane, have licenses, but that doesn't mean they meet the American FAA standards. Most countries you can go in airline office and apply, but the US and Japan for example have some of the toughest and most stringent requirements if you plan on becoming a commercial pilot, military service, hundreds of hours to become a professional certified pilot. So just because in Nigeria they have degrees doesn't mean they qualify for every job title that's out there, it all depends, criteria and standards are different. Nurses in the Philippines and nurses in the US having the same position are not at the same levels, it all depends, so saying that the Nigerians or anyone for that matter because they have a signed paper doesn't mean they are smarter or more qualified.

-7 ( +1 / -8 )

he stunningly questioned why the U.S. would admit Haitians or people from "sh-ithole" countries in Africa, expressing a preference instead for immigrants from Norway

Well, the real answer to that question is: it's because --while the US considers Haiti, Africa, et. al. a sh-ithole compared to them-- Norwegians probably consider the US a sh-ithole compared to themselves and won't immigrate, lol

(BTW, just to be clear about definitions - a racist does not need to be against all other races to be racist; a racist just needs to be against at least 1 race to be racist. So a racist can be friendly with all peoples except one. Just to make things clear.)

Watching Fox and Friends and reading and watching material on the internet from racist groups can have this effect.

bass4funk: "No, you're injecting your personal opinion into this"

No, it's racist, plain and simple. Trump has a long history of being sued for racism, and saying all Haitians "have aids", that the countries are s&&&holes, and wanting only people of Nordic descent, is racist. If you defend it, so are you. It's not opinion, it's fact. You can't deny it. That is why the White Supremacists are so happy with the comments, my friend. They are the biggest defenders of it. People saying, "It's just the way people talk" are nonetheless just as racist. Sorry my friend, but them's the facts.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

No, it's racist, plain and simple.

Again, you don't know that, if he were, he would never appoint someone in his cabinet that was Black to any position in his admin.

Trump has a long history of being sued for racism, and saying all Haitians "have aids", that the countries are s&&&holes, and wanting only people of Nordic descent, is racist.

Why? When I worked at NBC I can tell you for a fact that every news correspondent that had to countries like Haiti or Mogadishu all called these 3rd world places SH, all of them and none of them were racist. Again, if you ever went to a country like Somalia, I have zero doubt in my mind that you would use the same expletive to describe that country or countries like that. Sorry if the truth hurts, anyone that doesn't think so is not dealing with reality and it has nothing to do with the color of your skin.

If you defend it, so are you. It's not opinion, it's fact. You can't deny it.

No, it's your personal opinion, sadly, you do not get to define me, you know nothing about me.

That is why the White Supremacists are so happy with the comments, my friend.

If these idiots are happy, so what? They are idiots and no one listens to them, just like on "the View," a bunch of idiots that no one really pays attention to them.

They are the biggest defenders of it. People saying, "It's just the way people talk" are nonetheless just as racist. Sorry my friend, but them's the facts.

No, those are not the facts, those are your personal opinions and you are entitled to have them. But I know what I am and no one can tell me otherwise.

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

Again, you don't know that, if he were, he would never appoint someone in his cabinet that was Black to any position in his admin.

If he weren't racist, he wouldn't have put in place business practices that discriminate against black people. He was forced to change because of a settlement with the government.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Which is worse - using an accurate but non-politically correct word to describe a country, or steal millions if not billions of dollars from it?

For the Left, being politically incorrect and thought crime is always worse than actual corruption - such as filtering Haitian earthquake relief funds into the Clinton Foundation instead of to local private Haitian relief organizations or to individuals.

The sad fact is that Haiti is a living hell and the Clinton’s did much to keep it that way and enrich themselves. Remember, all that Haiti relief money flowing into the Clinton Foundation are used to pay for Bill, Hillary, and Chelseas elite lifestyle of 5 star hotels, private jets, chauffeurs, and expensive dining. Many in Haiti believe that the vast majority of relief money was laundered through their country and ended up elsewhere. But making a politically incorrect yet essentially true statement is worse to Democrats.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

bass4funk: "Again, you don't know that,"

Yes, we do, and so do you, which is why you can't say "he's not racist", you can only try to downplay it with vagaries and say, "Shucks... well... we don't KNOW it!" I'm sorry, but he has flat out rejected people in the past in his business based on their skin color and that alone. That is racist.

"If these idiots are happy, so what? They are idiots and no one listens to them,"

Wrong. The uneducated follow in their footsteps because Trump supports THEM in return, even saying "There are good people on both sides," etc. and not immediately condemning them, and only eventually doing so, against his will, due to extreme pressure. They are more powerful than they have been in a LONG time, and that is thanks to the support of Trump and HIS supporters since they defend his blatant racism and bigotry. Hate crimes are up exponentially thanks to Trump. And here you are saying "Their message doesn't matter because they are has beens" with people like Duke, when Duke's message has never changed and he WAS a very big deal -- ergo, by your logic, you say his message meant something when he was more popular (but again, has not changed). Trump gives these people more of a voice and an outlet, and justifies their acts and words of hate with his own. As do you, by defending it.

"No, it's your personal opinion, sadly, you do not get to define me, you know nothing about me."

I know that you are defending a racist, and you are defending bigotry, and naturally, as such people do, get defensive when called out on it. What is it that needs to be known about you or others that defend bigotry that justifies it?

Not personal opinion -- it is FACT.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Jalapeno - But I don"t bash Trump. I don't claim to be of a "higher" moral standard. If you think you are above someone else morally, prove it. Not with words, with actions.

Actually, Trump has proved he is of a lower moral standard on a daily basis for decades with his words and deeds. No need for others to prove a higher one than his. Or, at least not for the majority of Americans or global citizens who do not approve of his presidency.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Present the proof that it's not true.

S'easy, I could not bear to be married to a racist and I raised my kids not to be racist. That already puts a dint in your 'everybody'.

Whether these countries are sh1tholes or not is not at issue. The point is that the leader of a country, if he is sensible and has the interests of his own country at heart, does not go around publicly dissing other countries.

How would Americans react if the leaders of other countries announced publicly that the US was a p1ssp0t of a country (take your pick - rampant shootings, ridiculous gun laws, ganglands, preposterous lack of health care, out of control obesity, pollution, emissions, short life span, high infant mortality, toxic food laced with hormones, antibiotics, chlorine, high fructose corn syrup etc etc)? I imagine that country would quickly be removed from trade agreements, mutual defence treaties, friendly status. And rightly so.

Trump is doing America no favours.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

If he weren't racist, he wouldn't have put in place business practices that discriminate against black people. He was forced to change because of a settlement with the government.

Back then in the 70's that would make perfect sense, can't really blame him for that. Squatters, drug attacks, abandoned home, I would probably do the same in order to protect my investment and property. Has nothing to do with color.

You don't know the reason why, you are taking a one-sided opinionated point of view. Goggle: Frank Lucas and learn why Trump probably had to turn there people away.

Wrong.

No, I'm not wrong, these people are losers, no one listens to them. Nothing to worry about.

The uneducated follow in their footsteps because Trump supports THEM in return, even saying "There are good people on both sides," etc. and not immediately condemning them, and only eventually doing so, against his will, due to extreme pressure.

Not only the uneducated.

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2016/11/20/magazine/donald-trumps-america-pennsylvania-women.html

So Trump said, verbatim that he supports these people? This is why no one trusts the left and their hysteria in the media, they believe something and hail it as fact and YOU are not allowed to have any opposing views. What a joke.

They are more powerful than they have been in a LONG time, and that is thanks to the support of Trump and HIS supporters since they defend his blatant racism and bigotry. Hate crimes are up exponentially thanks to Trump.

With the last admin. crimes and attacks on the police went up 16% over a year ago, did that bother you? Or the growing violence and attacks on cops, that's ok, right?

And here you are saying "Their message doesn't matter because they are has beens" with people like Duke, when Duke's message has never changed and he WAS a very big deal -- ergo, by your logic, you say his message meant something when he was more popular (but again, has not changed). Trump gives these people more of a voice and an outlet, and justifies their acts and words of hate with his own. As do you, by defending it.

These people are a slim minority, their numbers are a joke. Also, there is no difference between an idiot and an opportunistic loser like Duke or Sharpton milking their constituents in order to remain in the spotlight.

I know that you are defending a racist, and you are defending bigotry, and naturally, as such people do, get defensive when called out on it. What is it that needs to be known about you or others that defend bigotry that justifies it?

I don't get defensive about how you feel about Trump, I could care less, you are entitled to your own personal opinion, but I don't take to kindly to people calling me something that I'm not especially if they don't know anything about me.

Not personal opinion -- it is FACT.

No, it's your personal opinion, that's a FACT.

I thought about replying to a comment or two here but decided not to waste my time. What I find a bit more interesting is that while everyone else was appalled by the comments, US neo-nazis have been lapping them up:

While Donald Trump’s reported comments attracted near-worldwide condemnation, American racists hailed them as an “illuminating and beautiful” contribution to the start of a revolution that would “restore racial sanity”.

And neo-Nazi Andrew Anglin used his Daily Stormer website to claim the controversy was “encouraging and refreshing” because “it indicates Trump is more or less on the same page as us with regards to race and immigration.”

And David Duke:

Just as the most ardent Trump supporters were about to give up on him in despair -- he restores a lot of love in us by saying blunt but truthful things that no other President in our lifetime would dare say! NO DACA! NO COMPROMISE - NO Sh**thole America! Hail Trump!

Trump must be delighted that his base is holding firm.

It is hilarious watching the mental yoga some posters are doing in order to defend Trump's inappropriate words.

Many people keep asking if others have visited El Salvador, Haiti, or Africa (which, just to clarify, is not a country). The questioners then assume that if you haven't visited those countries, you agree with Trump's choice of words. This assumption is wholly incorrect.

Others are holding up news broadcaster's absolutely accurate descriptions of those countries at evidence that Trump was correct, which is supposed to mean Trump is not to be faulted for using the language he did. This line of logic is extremely faulty.

We may very well agree that a country or geographical area is fraught with issues. That, however, does not mean we will use inappropriate words to describe those areas, and we aren't even the president.

Too many people have decided that the president should "be one of us," or be, "a straight talker" even if that means the US as a whole suffers.

Trump sure is doing a great job of handing the reins to Russia and China. Somehow the Trumpophiles thinks that is making America great again somehow.

Holy naïveté, Batman!

Has nothing to do with color.

Except that he exclusively denied all black people from renting because they were black. You should think about the impact Trump and men like him had when they talk about black neighborhoods. They personally hindered upward mobility.

Back then in the 70's that would make perfect sense, can't really blame him for that.

They have laws specifically to stop that kind of thinking from you and Trump. You cannot offer a place to rent in this country with a "no blacks allowed" sign. The government stepped in and forced changes to the company.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Of course Donald Trump is racist. Donald Trump is a hateful, spoiled, abusive, vicious bigot, and anyone who supports him, supports that.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

It is hilarious watching the mental yoga some posters are doing in order to defend Trump's inappropriate words.

Mental yoga? That's a new one. I think he was very clear.

Many people keep asking if others have visited El Salvador, Haiti, or Africa (which, just to clarify, is not a country).

What would you call El Salvador, Haiti or Somalia are these States, Provinces, Districts, Republics, Ghettos?

The questioners then assume that if you haven't visited those countries, you agree with Trump's choice of words. This assumption is wholly incorrect.

But if you have, then you can unequivocally give a personal and informed opinion.

Others are holding up news broadcaster's absolutely accurate descriptions of those countries at evidence that Trump was correct, which is supposed to mean Trump is not to be faulted for using the language he did. This line of logic is extremely faulty.

There are other politicians that said the President didn't utter those words.

We may very well agree that a country or geographical area is fraught with issues. That, however, does not mean we will use inappropriate words to describe those areas, and we aren't even the president.

Give me a break, as President, maybe I wouldn't have chosen to say those words in public, but on a real note and putting the drink down and in all honesty, every correspondent I have met to even friends of mine that have served in those countries have said exactly what the President allegedly said. Sorry, those are the facts.

Too many people have decided that the president should "be one of us," or be, "a straight talker" even if that means the US as a whole suffers.

If we don't get illegal immigration under control, we will suffer more, because the Dems won't do a darn thing for the border.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

Except that he exclusively denied all black people from renting because they were black.

Yes and with good reason especially with the mafia, the Colombo family and Frank Lucas were pumping drugs into the streets on a massive level. Heroin and crack was everywhere and the main recipients were the absolute poor and minorities. squatters everywhere living in abandoned buildings and Trump was right especially trying to run a business especially in a city that had close to over 1000 murders a month.

You should think about the impact Trump and men like him had when they talk about black neighborhoods. They personally hindered upward mobility.

If people just believe the hype, they don't know the true streets of how NYC used to be and it was a SH city if the highest order.

They have laws specifically to stop that kind of thinking from you and Trump. You cannot offer a place to rent in this country with a "no blacks allowed" sign. The government stepped in and forced changes to the company.

No, you cannot and will not bring drugs, gangs or prostitution to my residence, perfectly legal.

@M3M3M3

Again, you deny it but refuse to answer my question. I'll ask it a final time. How many points do you get...?

I didn't answer your question because it's like asking 'how long is a piece of string?' There are literally dozens of questions in the Quick Entry for Skilled Workers questionnaire. However, you can score a zero on the section for skills transferability (about education and work experience) and still qualify as a skilled worker. You can also obtain full points on that section and not qualify. To go back to your previous example, an uneducated and unskilled Norwegian is just as unlikely to qualify as a skilled worker as an uneducated and unskilled Somali.

This is smokescreen. The points system is the only game in town for the vast majority of people trying to enter Canada.

Wrong. The points system represents just over half of the number of immigrants admitted to Canada each year.

I still fail to see how a system such as Canada's that does not discriminate based on race, religion, sexual orientation, country of origin (etc) could be considered racist as you implied in your original post. Especially when almost half of the people who immigrate to Canada do without even using the quick entry points system.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

There are other politicians that said the President didn't utter those words.

Then why are Trump followers defending Trump against something they believe he didn't even say? You are writing long paragraphs for nothing. Just say it's fake news. If you defend him it means you think he actually said these terrible things.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

Speaking for myself, I wish he would resign, He is an embarrassment to America, and to the whole human race.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

' a delusional paranoid schizophrenic, probably a manic depressive, Bi Polar definable.'

Wow...you're a shrink, and can diagnose long-distance? His live hour-long broadcast of his meeting with reps in the White House pretty much destroyed the mental illness/dementia argument (you hadn't noticed that it has pretty much disappeared for the time being?).

Every report of this utterance has been 'based on reports of those briefed on the meeting'...how many times is that removed from the people who actually attended the meeting? Since when are the reports of 'people who were briefed on the meeting' considered the burden of proof for publication? Others at the meeting are saying the remark was not made.

Oh, no one will like it when these standards of 'proof' are all used on the next Democratic President, but they will be...I'm thinking that people will not be happy with the consequences, should they succeed, of the tactics they are willing to engage in, in order to get rid of Trump. Do you really want to change the rules so a President can be unilaterally removed under the 25th Amendment , solely on the basis of social media posts? That can impeach a President for decades-old incidents that were known pre-election, and occurred before they took office? Do you really want a press that presents rumor as fact? The blow-back on this for the next Democratic administration will be spectacular, if they succeed in all of this, but nobody's thinking that far ahead, past 'Get Trump!'...

Durbin has a history of making up comments out of thin air, causing a ruckus, and then refusing to comment.

“In a ‘negotiation’ meeting with the president, one GOP House Leader told [President Barack Obama]: ‘I cannot even stand to look at you,’” Durbin wrote in a post on his Facebook page over the weekend.

However, both the White House and the House speaker’s office denied Durbin’s account of events.

Asked about the post in the White House daily briefing, press secretary Jay Carney said he checked with a participant of the meeting in question.

“I looked into this and spoke with somebody who was in that meeting and it did not happen,” Carney said.

Durbin's office "had no comment on the post and offered no further details."

"Sen. Durbin’s accusation is a serious one, and it appears to have been invented out of thin air," said Brendan Buck, spokesman for then-House Speaker John Boehner. "The senator should disclose who told him this account of events, retract his reckless allegation immediately, and apologize."

But, any port in a storm, eh? Trump says enough dumb crap on his own, jump on him for that. You can cheer on all kinds of sleazy reporting now, as it targets the object of your hate, but I hope to hell it doesn't become the new journalistic standard.

Some people think I was talking about El Salvador and Haiti when I said Africa wasn't a country!

Love this exchange:

A: Trump's racist.

B: What's your proof.

A: He illegally rejected all black applicants for rental properties and was sued by the government twice in the 1970s.

B: In the 70s crime was crazy so he was correct to do it,

A: But he only denied black people.

B: Yes, for good reason.

Guess who the racist is in that exchange. Well, B could be intellectually dishonest, which is the only mother options to B being racist. Too funny.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

The left have totally lost it, the people that claim they are against racism are outright racists themselves, go to any Democrat run Black major populated city throughout the US and look at the crime rate, pointing that out is to the left racist, but do they do anything to help these communities, not at all. There are many people in the US that would call these areas SH for sure, that doesn’t mean they are racist, when Trump talks about countries like Haiti or South Africa or El Salvador or even Somalia what else can you call these countries? Paradise, Lavish? Also, it’s the fault of these countries governments that squander the money that they receive from the US as well as internationally. If Trump talked about the individual people themselves I get it, but he didn’t, but at the same time, the left want to emulate Scandinavia, they like free stuff, they want the US to model them, so the President said something thst the left like and stand for, now all of a sudden to invoke Norway you are somehow a racist? Man, oh, man, the left are really losing it.

-5 ( +1 / -6 )

Superlib: : Except that he exclusively denied all black people from renting because they were black.

bass: Yes and with good reason

That's what I was looking for, thanks.

So you're a conservative Trump support who sees nothing wrong with refusing housing to black people based on the color of their skin. Furthermore, you don't see any evidence that Trump is racist.

Does that cover it?

Cleo - "S'easy, I could not bear to be married to a racist and I raised my kids not to be racist. That already puts a dint in your 'everybody'."

Never met your husband. May never meet your kids. And will probably never meet you. All you have are words and your assurances. Proves nothing. Try again.

The U.S., and the world for that matter, has many people of different races, and with that, comes racism.

Garypen - "No need for others to prove a higher one than his. Or, at least not for the majority of Americans or global citizens who do not approve of his presidency." Yes, there is. If you can't back up your words with actions, then your words are meaningless. So go ahead. Open your doors and host people from other countries - Haiti, Somalia, take your pick. Step up, bro, and show your true colors.

Laguna - "First, I'd remind you that "those Americans" now do not contain 67% of the country." So the opinions of 33% of Americans should be deemed not American. Who are you to decide how an American should think or what America is? The U.S. has lot of people with lots of different opinions on what's good and not good for the country. While I may disagree with a lot of these people, I am not going to say that their opinions are "un-American".

And let me remind everyone what Seinfeld once said: "If I like their race, how can that be racist."

Donald Trump's lawyers paid off 100 women who had sexual encounters with the then-candidate during the 2016 presidential campaign.

So the Left believes that a 71 year old man had sex with 100 women during the 2016 campaign? Now that is fake news.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

So you're a conservative Trump support who sees nothing wrong with refusing housing to black people based on the color of their skin.

It wasn’t just only blacks that made complaints. I hope you know Lisa Bloom wasn’t the only sleaze lawyer that ever existed. Keep trying.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Who said it was during the Tump campaign?

What? I quoted the statement exactly.

Doesn’t matter if its a Dem or Bannon. The quote is false. I find it extremely hard to believe that over the course of a one year winning presidential campaign that candidate, even Bill Clinton back in his philandering heyday, could manage so many sexual liaisons.

smith: The people of Nigeria, per capita, hold more bachelor's degrees and are better educated than people in the US, and why would Norwegians automatically qualify, as Trump suggests, if it's merit-based?

It doesn’t make any sense. Treat people as individuals and admit more of the better qualified Nigerians. Norway is a quasi-Socialist State so it’s better to admit people who believe in individual liberty from Nigeria than a socialist from Norway.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

Bass: It wasn’t just only blacks that made complaints.

Oh, really. Perhaps other people were left out of the government case? Who else made complaints? Links would be good, but if you don't have any, then no worries.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Hell yeah he's racist, but that doesn't mean he wasn't telling the truth.

Neither Trump nor his immediate predecessor are any more or less racist than your average pro-race quota Progressive. Haven’t seen many Dems or establishment Republicans reticent over their up front use of race as a factor in employment or admissions. That sort of government endorsed racial spoils system is way more offensive than Trump’s crass and un-Presidential description of Haiti and other overwhelmingly black countries.

I don’t mind discriminating among prospective foreign immigrants as long as it is based on character only. There is absolutely no excuse for the Democrat party’s pro-racist public policy positions that have permeated every institution in the country. Yet this racism is so engrained in America’s DNA that hardly anyone notices it.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

Never met your husband. May never meet your kids. And will probably never meet you. All you have are words and your assurances. Proves nothing. Try again.

Your claim was that 'everyone is a racist to some degree. EVERYONE!'. Neither you nor I will ever meet EVERYONE. All you have is empty words. Proves less than nothing. Try again.

It only takes one person to be non-racist for your argument to crumble. It crumbles before it even takes shape.

The U.S., and the world for that matter, has many people of different races, and with that, comes racism.

I'm not claiming that there is no racism. Obviously there is. I'm taking issue with your totally unsubstantiated claim that EVERYONE is racist. Not EVERYONE is. Even if you write it in capitals.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Countries are not a "race". No theyre a people made up of many races, it isn't coincidence that Trumps sh@@hole comment was referring to countries where the vast majority of their populations are black with very few Caucasians. when you insult a country your actually insulting its people.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

it’s better to admit people who believe in

Does this mean they have to state they are not a socialist to become a citizen? I never heard of that. That question is really in the American citizen application? And again, Trump denies saying sh!hole. Why debate about it and just simply call it fake news?

1 ( +1 / -0 )

was Democrats who we're slave owners

Then how come the KKK don't vote Democrat. KKK want slavery to return. Why do they keep voting Republican? It's proof that if slavery existed today it would be the Republican party behind it.

Also...

A senator who attended the closed-door meeting during which the president reportedly insulted Haiti and various African nations with an expletive now says Trump never said the word. (news source)

Don't you Trump voters believe your own politicians? Why do you keep rationalizing something Trump said when his supporters never said he said that?

0 ( +1 / -1 )

He visited many countries. He probably used American style rest room in Japan. Maybe automatic flushing, maybe you use your hand to push down knob to flush water. But other countries, they may not have flushing toilet. In some countries, people use just outside. I think Trump figured some countries do not use toilet room. Not defending him but often tourists from rich countries use Casinos. outdoor lake urinating. Casinos change water every morning. There are automatic toilet flushing system but they prefer their custom. Trump visited too many countries. If he does not have a big mouth, he wouldn't be in this kind trouble.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

President Trump racist? That's like saying the sun shines in the daytime, or that a bear shits in the woods.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

It's proof that if slavery existed today it would be the Republican party behind it.

Huh? That's a wild leap if I ever saw one, and a 'look, a squirrel!' move on your part.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

Many "news sources" used here and on TV particularly NHK definitely have a bias when reporting on President Trump. Three other Senators who were in the meeting deny the reported statement. and it is known that Senator Durbin who reported this has a history of lying and fabricating stories to the media.

The Democrats power comes from having a dependant lower class of constituents. This is the only reason they want to have open borders. There are approximately 30 million illegal aliens living in the USA. That is 25% of the population of Japan! It is insane for the USA to continue to have migration of people who are illiterate in their own language they cannot read or write and expect to assimilate into american culture.

Remember, the late Senator Ted Kennedy and President Clinton were caught in conversation saying that "it was only a few years ago tha Obama would be serving them drinks"! The original birther was Hillary Clinton who question whether Obama was an American back in 2007.

Cleo - Simple Googling of studies done on babies and their racial preferences should clarify things. What lots of studies have shown, and if you accept the premise that people are inherently hesitant when dealing with that which is unfamiliar or unlike us, then you can accept that racism is as innate to people as their blood is red. In a world of one race, there would be no racism. In a world of even just two races, or varying skin tones, there will be racism. Just as you don't need to meet everyone to know their blood is red, neither do you need to meet everyone to know people in this world we live in are racist to some degree. Not everyone is a cross-burning, hood-wearing neo-Nazi, but whether your racism manifests itself in hate speech, or whether you may actually go out of your way to befriend those not of your race, it is still racism. The sooner you acknowledge your inherent racism, the better position you may be in to not let it be a harmful influence on your opinions or actions.

If nothing above jives with you, then we'll just have to agree to disagree.

I wish you luck raising non-racist kids. Here is an olive branch:

Simple Googling of studies done on babies and their racial preferences should clarify things.

I think we're arguing at cross purposes. I'm not claiming that there is no racism. I'm not claiming that people are not 'inherently hesitant when dealing with that which is unfamiliar'. Racism is not simply the recognition that people look different; it's discrimination, prejudice or antagonism directed at people of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior. A baby showing a preference for people who look like its parents - what it is used to seeing - does not mean the baby is exhibiting racism, or that racism is innate. A baby who has never seen (e.g.) a man with a beard might react negatively to the first bearded man he sees, not because he feels superior to people with beards, but simply because it's something the baby is not familiar with and it doesn't know what to make of it.

My own kids - Japanese/UK - grew up seeing no other people of their own 'race' - everyone around them was either Japanese, or me. So did they grow up believing that haaf is superior to Japanese or caucasian? No. They grew up accepting that some people look like this, some people look like that, and some people are a mix of both. As they got older and met more people they learned there are lots more variations and that the way a person looks or talks is no indication of what kind of person they are.

Your link was an interesting read: a totally US-centric view of ohmygawd-race. It was an eye-opener, not for its claims that kids are not colour-blind (of course they aren't) but that American parents apparently see race as a 'problem' to be tackled, and that simply acknowledging different races is 'racist'. Very sad. But I can see how, if you are in that kind of environment, you might think everyone is naturally racist. Thankfully the US is not the whole world, and not all of us share the US history of racial tensions.

Trump's own words revive debate over whether he's racist

I thought the matter was already settled. He is.

Let's see - ban on certain Middle Eastern countries where he has no business interests in, the Muslim ban, he ticks off Native Americans with his boorish 'Pocahontas' joke and allowing a leaky oil pipeline on a reservation of theirs, badmouths black football players peacefully protesting against police brutality, sticks up for Nazi trash instigating violence in Charlottesville, openly endorsed by neo-Nazis, HATES Hispanics and wants to kick them out and build a wall to keep them away (that's 'ethnic cleansing', folks) and he delays hurricane relief to Puerto Rico which is mostly Hispanic Americans, AND doesn't want black immigrants but Nordic white instead. Yeah buddy, sounds like a SHITLER to me!

3 ( +4 / -1 )

President Trump is very far from being a racists. It is the only thing the democrats have to attack him with. Obama called Libya a s@@@ show, Graham called countries a hell hole, Dick Durbin himself has used chain migrantion in many addresses to the congress. The examples go on and on from Democrats and fellow republicans using same or similar language, yet no one freaked out about them. But anything President Trump says is always racists. News flash mexican is not a race, nationalilty, Muslim is not a race, its a religion and ILLEGAL immigrants is not a race. Always when talking about immigrantion it's about the Illegals, not legal immigrants....

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

President Trump is very far from being a racists

The man refused to rent to people based on the colour of their skin. That is textbook racial discrimination. It's undeniable that he is a racist. The only question according to some posters here is whether or not such racism is justified.

guide the nation's moral compass and defined the American ideal for millions around the world.

Not anymore. Donald Trump is Benito Mussolini reincarnated. His lip service to MLK is a SHAM, especially on his track record. He gave Pope Francis a book on MLK upon his visit to the Vatican last year, but Francis is no idiot. He's been arrested by fascist thugs ruling his native Argentina in the past, and you should see the now viral photo of Don the Con's 3rd wife Melania, his daughter/girlfriend Ivanka, His Smugness and the Pope himself. The Pope, a Vicar of Christ standing next to an Anti-Christ - doesn't look like a happy camper at all!
