Sorry, O'Brien. But while China isn't a friendly nation, the greatest threat to the American 'great way of life' is the 'man' who occasionally sits in the Oval Office at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, DC and fancies himself a President.

“to our great way of life” and will act to check the spread of Beijing's ideology.

Given Trump, Inc. are financially connected to Chinese Communist (in name only) Party nabobs through manufacturing plus selling trademarks (see Ivanka) and visas (see Jared), given most major US based global corporations have financial connections with Chinese Communist Party nabobs, given so many in America's 'elite' factions have got rich dealing with Chinese Communist Party nabobs, I'm not going to hold my breath thinking the Trump admin is going to do much more than create slogans for their followers to parrot in 'checking the spread of Beijing's ideology'.

Beijing's 'ideology' is one of authoritarian capitalism, neo-imperial capitalism. Not that different from the US and Russia's. Each a nuclear power. Each to be feared.

Trump knows the best way to keep his base riled up is by pointing to people and states to fear, claiming he can provide protection. However, he's got bunkers to hide in; they don't.

“As China grew richer and stronger, we believed that the Chinese Communist Party would liberalize to meet the rising democratic aspirations of its people,” O’Brien said. “This was a bold, quintessentially American idea. It was born of our innate optimism and by the experience of our triumph over Soviet communism. Unfortunately, it also turned out to be very naive.”

Another mistake in the US policy towards China.

Nooooo, the greatest threat to the American great way of life, and contrary to your opinion, it is great, why do you think so many people want to go there, is the leftist revolution we have going on now.

Biden says China is no problem.

It isn't. Manufacturing jobs are so overrated.

If the American way of life means militarily controlling every inch of the planet right up to China's borders, then yes, China is a threat all right.

How utterly two-faced that a government will military bases all over the planet, which meddles in the elections and affairs of all nations of the world, and which is totally unapologetic about foreign wars it launched even when those wars are shown to be based on pure lie, should turn to a nation who has only shown true interest in their immediate vicinity even if their claims are dubious.

With American leaders its hard to tell where the paranoia stops and the intentional evil begins.

Better be careful Mr O'Brien, your're criticizing your boss' BFF and business partner....

As Bolton has said in his book, the only person Trump would "take a knee" for is Xi - "pleading" with him to interfere in our election...

Keep that up and you'll end up as just another ex-Trump appointee "wacko and liar"....

“America, under President Trump’s leadership, has finally awoken to the threat of the Chinese Communist Party’s actions and the threat they pose to our great way of life.”

Ironic, since trump took both knees pleading to Xi for help in the coming elections!!

“to our great way of life”

Nice joke, hehehe

The last four years of Trump have been a "disaster" as he likes to put it, in just about every which way one can imagine. Howver, the one shining "good thing" that he has done for the country is to bring out into the open the game that China has been playing against the United States. Right out of Sun Tsu's book, they have carried on an "all fronts war" economically, socially, psychologically, diplomatically, strategically, all with the aim of replacing the Unityed States which they call the Hegemon. Smiling and telling us that they are friends while working constantly to undermine us. While the idea of some other country being a world leader is not fundamentally bad, the idea that the one party CCP dictatorship should be the new hegemon is abhorrent. When Trump is out this November, the new Democratic administration needs to undo many things that Trump did. But they absolutely must stay the course as far as China is concerned.
