Such a strategy would be widely seen as dangerous given the North's capability to inflict a devastating retaliation on U.S. ally South Korea.

of course NK would retaliate after any "bloody nose" strike..... what else would a psycho do??

The author of this article hasn't been watching the Olympics. The North and South Koreans are "brethren".

Obviously America is not going to advertise its military strike plans against NK, just as NK doesn't advertise it's nuclear test or ICBM test plans. You can bet your life that America has, and is, considering a so-called "bloody nose" strike, although I think this would also need to be in conjunction with a full decapitation strike of NK's entire government and leadership to be effective and to possibly prevent further escalation.

There won't be any strikes of any kind on North Korea any more. North Korea's admirable and epic diplomatic victory and cheerleading at the Olympics has made sure of that and has demonstrated that North Korea is the most peaceful nation in the region.

All those angry fist shakers who claimed Obama drew a line and did nothing will suddenly back track on this one. Trump drew a MUCH more solid line that was crossed ages ago.

already Americans in SK have been advised to leave before the spring offensive. israel bombed iraqs nuclear programme and that worked because iraq didn't have 70 subs with many capable of delivering nukes, chemical or biological weapons.

LOL. Who started this rumor? "Bloody nose strategy"? Seriously? Did the Daily Telegraph make up this phrase, or was it those playful Russians again? Maybe it was the Chinese? Or perhaps the NK cheerleaders? What never ceases to amaze me is the numbers of gullible people you can view on the internet.

"We were told clearly by administration people about as high up as it gets that there is no such thing as a 'bloody nose' strategy, that they've never talked about, they've never considered it, they've never used that term, and it's not something that that people ought to be talking about," Risch said.

The "bloody nose" moniker emerged in December, when a British newspaper, The Daily Telegraph, cited unnamed sources saying the White House had "dramatically" stepped up preparation for a military solution because diplomacy was not working.

"Our preference is to achieve denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula through a diplomatic settlement, but we will reach this goal one way or another," she said.

It will never happen with N. Korean dear leader Kim Jong-un.

I agree that this "bloody nose" strategy thing is totally ridiculous. Since 1953 officially a state of war has existed between SKorea/US/UN Command and North Korea. The US has been running countless simulations of a conflict with North Korea ranging from "bloody noses" to nuclear annihilation for decades. And, announcing them is not part of normal protocol. Media nonsense trying to create news where there isn't any.
