Again, it is clear that the bogus 30-day ceasefire is meant to be a trap for Russia, designed to immediately pump-up Ukraine with weapons and potentially EU/UK troops. Not one nation thus far has even logically explained what the purpose of the "30-day ceasefire" is. They have prevaricated to obscure this point. Their little planned 'peacekeeping force' is a backdoor to NATO and won't be permitted by Moscow.
The sudden urgency for a 'ceasefire/peace' does lend an interesting angle, as it seems to suggest that Ukraine's situation is more dire than is being let on. Recall all the talk of summer-time collapse: it’s possible they know that a new round of Russian spring-to-summer offensives could be the final straw on the exhausted Ukrainian camel's back, coming right after the Kursk fiasco has been exposed.
Looks clear Moscow isn't going to dictated terms, least of all by Zelensky - the losing party doesn't get to do it. Nor is the former waiting for others to come and solve their problems: they appear motivated and able to do it by themselves.
They have made clear either rump state Ukraine becomes a neutral, demilitarized buffer or it will have to be dismantled (much like Yugoslavia).

Still don't understand why the country that was attacked would have to make any "territorial concessions".
I mean I understand Trump is taking sides with the bad guy because he has no soul, but it's still mind-boggling.

Look up Zaporizhzhya NPP on Google Maps. If that's where the White House reckons the Ukraine/Russia border is, they're starting from a very weak bargaining position.

Another big misconception is the "Trump is siding with Russia" narrative building (let's call it B). He is not. Rather, he is a Realist, which means he observes the blunt reality Waltz outlined in the article, that Kyiv stands 0% chance of pushing Russia out of the south-east or winning this conflict for that matter and neither is it related to core US national security concerns by any measure.
Realism doesn't mix well with neo-liberal/con-international-interventionist rules-based-order crowd, like oil and water. Thus, the confusion, which extends to the necessity of territorial concessions. This is compounded by the simplistic and erroneous narrative that governed how this actual provoked conflict was falsely portrayed in the media narrative bubble (call this A).
Certain quarters that subscribed to A are now susceptible to B by default.

Google maps are getting incresingly outdated in the changing world...

Peace achieved for political expediency is never lasting—it must be built on justice and a true resolution of underlying issues. So why is Trump pushing so hard for this? As always, the key is to examine his motives; it’s either about his ego or the grift. Once you accept that, everything else becomes much clearer.

Talk of Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is interesting. Truth of the matter here is it's firmly in Russian territory, south side of the Dnieper. Russia has hooked up Donbass/Crimea to the Russian electricity network, so it doesn't 'need it', so to say.
Ukraine, having their energy infrastructure seriously degraded, will need it much more. And this means the power it produces most likely, because one can't see them handing it over, as opposed to providing access to what it generates.
Also, it was built in USSR times, so Kyiv shouldn't want it back anyway.
Called playing another card, of which Moscow has many.

Today I saw one video in the comments on a Russian Tg channel. A video shot by a helmet camera of one of the fighters. The camera captured three English-speaking soldiers dying. On the white snow in the Kursk region. They were shouting something in English. But they were killed with a pistol. Was it built on justice, dbsaiya? What were they doing on Russian soil as members of a Ukrainian unit? Their parents probably won't find out that they died. Too many Ukrainian and foreign mercenaries have died in the Kursk region. Why is Trump so concerned about the fate of the soldiers who are surrounded? Because there are Americans among these soldiers! He's not interested in the British or the French, but Trump is interested in the American. He wants to save them.

Trump’s a real asset.
A real Russian asset that is!
Mr Kipling
The Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is not of great importance to Russia. It has no shortage of power generation. It is however, essential to the needs of Kiev. I can see Russia handing this back in exchange for some of the towns in the east not yet taken.

Trump did not send Americans to kill Russians in Kursk. Not Trump!!!

The blunt reality is that Russia invaded Ukraine unprovoked. And that Russia is a bigger military power. And that Trump despises democracy and loves dictators, and longs to be one. And that he'll side with might over right.
All of this is shameful.

I have to add to that. At the moment, the station is not functioning, it has been stopped. To resume work, it needs to be supplied with water from the Dnieper River (to cool the process components). But... as you know, Ukraine blew up the dam and the Kakhovsky reservoir turned into a shallow puddle....Now let's imagine how Ukraine will restore all the mess. No matter what anyone says, Ukraine will never be able to recover! Only Russia has always been interested in Ukraine. Now? I don't know. Probably not. ..After a series of monstrous betrayals Ukraine is an enemy , au moins for Russian people. Let do it Europe:)))) Let Europe restore the station /s

Seems both Poland and Hungary also want a "piece" of Ukraine, based on their historical claims. The peace process will be indeed complex to 'codify', but far harder to do so if the bullets are still flying, so a cease-fire that's not a 'backdoor' NATO escalation is a must.

Peace always starts with a ceasefire.
Russia did trillions of dollars in damages to Ukraine without any cause. I'd like the see the repayment plan and all Russian military and settlers who have arrived since the war start leaving.
Russia cannot be rewarded for attacking a neighbor. Rather than allow that, relocate all Ukrainians around the world and nuke the entire country. Then Russia can have that land, if they want it so bad. Or perhaps salting all the areas where Russia refuses to leave is another option, so nothing can grow there for the next 50 yrs.

JT readers should understand that Russia/Putin deem it's "Security Operation" fundamentally as assisting people in Ukraine, Russian speaking former Ukrainians, involved in a longstanding civil war starting in 2014 due to their human, property and voting rights being taken away.
Putin also deems it Legal Assistance per UN charter.
Above, not the "Invasion" Kiev/Zelenskyy narrative and WHY this is a Complicated War and Peace Process
Let's hope someone like DJT, who's independent, can find a workable compromise to restore stability and prosperity to Ukraine and thus the broader world.

Putin is helping people in the Donbas by smashing their cities to dust (e.g., Bakhmut).
Russia started the war in 2014 by sending in troops.
That’s bs.
It’s not complicated. It’s an imperialistic invasion.
He’s not. He’s in love with Putin.
Unlikely.

Would be much better if Trump was not involved at al. He doesn't understand basic facts and history, and is deeply compromised and believes whatever Putin tells him. He keeps saying Ukraine is surrounded in Kursk which is straight out of Russian propaganda. He has no idea so just believes what those around him tell him and repeats the Russian narrative (Zelenskyy is a dictator, Russia is strong and holds all the cards, risk of WW3 etc.) . He gives away concessions for nothing and is terrible at negotiating. He should stick to decorating his office.

Putin: We want Ukraine territory, a guarantee of no NATO involvement in Ukraine and economic sanctions on Russia lifted.
Trump: That sounds reasonable.
Zelensky: We want peace with dignity and a guarantee for peace in the future.
Trump: Absolutely not!!!

Sorry, but the words "Trump" and "Realist" simply do not go together.
You'll need to think of a better line if you want to win that "Hero of the Soviet Union" medal.
Zaporizhzhia is not in Russian territory.
It is in an area that is illegally occupied by Russia.
They were fighting the Russians, who have illegally invaded their sovereign country. Just as international law allows them to.
It's fully legal to attack the aggressor on its own territory if you are invaded.
But non-brainwashed JT readers aren't stupid, and fully understand that Russia murdering, raping and torturing Ukrainians, destroying their infrastructure, and abducting their children is not "assisting" them in any way.
Primusinter
I told about three English-speaking fighters..three killed fighters...Ukrainians don't speak English especially in the situations where they are being killed...on the territory of Kursk region

Imagine being proudly on the side of murderous dictators. Really makes you wonder what must have happened in these people's lives for them to become so utterly devoid of compassion.

Per UN Charter, Russia’s invasion is illegal.
Started by Russia.
Not a proxy war.
Irrelevant.

As we all know the United States played a key role in generating and perpetuating this terrible conflict in Ukraine since the Bucharest Nato meeting in 2008:

Truth in all this is that the big US industrial military complex, needs to make sure that Trump does not stop the big influx of weapons orders, all Made in America, which in turn are driving the US financial stocks to historical records and pay the commission of the propaganda.
The truth is Ukraine and Ukrainians continue to suffer the consequences of this massacre. And the conflict is a dangerous, unwinnable proxy war undertaken by the Washington against Russia. Praising the big US industrial military complex will make things worse.

Recite some more Russian propaganda, if you like. There are lots of Russian speaking Ukrainians who know that the Russian govt send people into Ukraine to destabilize the country after the Russian attempt to control elections failed. Putin wasn't happy that his toy leader didn't win. I was even worse when a TV comedian beat the Russian-picked opposition.
Just because you cross a border right before an election, that doesn't make you a citizen nor allowed to vote. Ukraine has been part of so many Russian tricks like this, they recognized it from the start. When you lie down with dogs, expect to get fleas.
Lots of Ukrainians speak English, just like lots of Russians speak English. My next door neighbors speak English, Russian and Ukrainian. My grandparents spoke German, Russian and English. A language doesn't denote citizenship. Speaking Russian in Ukraine was how to get ahead for people who traded with Russians or were old enough to have Russian language forced onto them in school when the USSR existed.
Don't forget that Russia, Ukraine, the US and UK all signed an agreement in 1994 that had Ukraine turn over their nukes to Russia with guarantees that their sovereignty would be maintained. Ukraine, UK, and the USA didn't invade Ukraine - Russia did. On the first day in 2014 that Russia became aggressive, the UK and US should have jumped in and killed all the pro-Russian people (cough Russian military thugs). And again, when Russia invaded again, the UK and US should have jumped in and made it too costly for Russia to continue. Ukraine was screwed by all three signatories. The least the UK/US should do is provide weapons and intelligence to help Ukraine make Russia hurt. A few stealth bombers keeping Russian military honest and on their side of the border would be smart too. If needed, throw in some F-22s and F-35s as blockers and anti-SAM platforms if the UK and US Navy DDGs can't take those SAM sites out.

I guess it's good that the US now has a leader that doesn't want to continue the war.

Trump should know he doesn't have the authority to discuss any of these things but then he frequently has brown stuff coming out of his mouth.

Here is a perfect example of what we define the alarming propaganda of the big US industrial military complex, the warlords in Wall Street spreading disinformation for the sake of their own profits.
And you have to feel sorry for those followers completely void of history classes, instead of checking the accuracy of the information, are showing up only where greed prevails.
