GREAT!
The in-house-fighting continues.
They're going at each others throats already.
Guess it's because they all want a piece of the cake but don't get it!
This will be such an interesting 4 years - a comedy show at its best!
Get the popcorn and beer ready!!
TaiwanIsNotChina
Apparently it isn't so easy to ride that coalition of racists and billionaires.
Underworld
There is a reason that they have this visa program. It helps American companies immensely in getting difficult to find talent. If such talent was widely available in the US, there would be no need for such a program. Look at many top US companies that are run by foreign-born tech talent (Microsoft, Google, etc).
But to many of the MAGA faithful America first means no immigration.
ok1517
Underworld,
looks like some people still don't understand what an H-1B visa means.
Because considering the intend, quite some of those who (ab-)used it shouldn't be in the US any more!
"The H-1B visa is for those who wish to stay in the United States temporarily as a "specialized engineer" based on work , and can stay in the United States for a total of six years, including extensions."
GBR48
The visas and the tech industry that needs them to function have underwritten US power for decades, not just building and maintaining GAFA, but pinching the best young tech workers from other nations. Many stay on and boost the sector with the next generation of start ups. Locking them out would be akin to a US Brexit, cutting the US off from global talent, and having them stay at home and develop competing tech there. This is one area where the US benefits from Trump needing Musk's money.
dagon
Undocumented migrants too.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/how-two-undocumented-housekeepers-took-on-the-president--and-revealed-trumps-long-term-reliance-on-illegal-immigrants/2019/12/04/3dff5b5c-0a15-11ea-bd9d-c628fd48b3a0_story.html
Trump has only himself to blame for this MAGA tempest. The old GOP of old money fat cats knew they needed immigration to fuel their business wealth. Trump is highlighting the dichotomy between the needs of his team of billionaire oligarchs and the desires of his MAGA masses.
plasticmonkey
Trump likes whatever personally benefits himself.
He’s also waffling on the TikTok issue now, since the platform helped him gain some of “the youth” vote.
But it’s entertaining to see this fight between the Bannon/Miller/Loomer white nationalist camp and the Musk/Ramaswamy tech bro oligarchy camp. And Trump’s term hasn’t even begun yet!
virusrex
I'm beginning to think the "Vicepresident Trump" people are actually right.

We hear from Musk but not VP Vance.

Trump starting to realize that foreigners are better educated, behaved and slimmer than the natives.
Elon needs a return on his bribe.

This has been so enjoyable to watch - MAGA-world, coming off eeking out a win in Nov, comes unglued before they even can start Trump 2.0….
First Trump demands Mike Johnson and the Repub Congress stop colluding with the Dems and allow the government to shut down. They ignore him and pass a budget….
Then “President Musk” or maybe better “King Elon the First” starts issuing decrees clearly diminishing and over-shadowing the Orange Despot - and that really causes the ketchup to fly at MAL…
Then MAGA-kittens MTG and Laura Loomer take their cat-fight up to Level 10, dissing each other in an attempt to be top MAGA-lioness…
Now the all-out MAGA civil war has started…Musk and Vivek, two immigrants or children of immigrants, and both Top 1% Fat Cats, call American culture “mediocre” and the fix is MORE IMMIGRANTS. Then when MAGA-nation pushes back, he calls them “contemptible fools”....who should be ejected from the Repub Party…
So MAGA-fans, two questions;
1) Which hurts more, Hillary calling you “deplorable”, Musk calling you a “contemptible fool”, or Trump calling you a “basement dweller”?
2) Have Elon and Vivek entered “John Bolton and Mike Pence” territory yet? You know, “best ever” to “human scum”?
MAGA-world - self-imploding before it can even take office…ROFL…
Tokyo Guy
Point of pedantry: "barons", not "barrons", unless someone has cloned young Lurch and put him in the cabinet.
Anyway, this was pretty predictable. Gather a lot of people whose egos are bigger than their abilities, and voila.

MAGA meltdown as Elon Musk threatens 'war like you've never seen' with Republicans and vows to kick out 'hateful, unrepentant racists' from the party.
Musk is unelected and has no power to kick anyone out.
Elon Musk has been a Republican for 5 minutes and now he wants to decide who gets to be a Republican.
geronimo2006
Trump led MAGA take over the Republican party. Now Elon Musk et al take over Trump with their money and influence. Didn't see that one coming did you MAGA, but you should have. Trump has shown he is easily manipulated by those around him.
Tokyo Guy
1) Which hurts more, Hillary calling you “deplorable”, Musk calling you a “contemptible fool”, or Trump calling you a “basement dweller”?
Surely the third, as they can't whatabout it.
For instance, "Hillary? Yes but whatabout her emails"
Musk: "Yes but whatabout his nationality?"
Trump: (dead silence, as they are programmed to never say a negative thing about him)
TaiwanIsNotChina
They will be "RINO"s. Elmo was always against MAGA. Trust me.
Tokyo Guy
Elmo was always against MAGA. Trust me.
"Elon Musk? Name rings a bell, might have met him once, he's that car guy isn't he? Very smart. I invented the car, did you know that? My cars are the most beautiful cars. Made in Ch...er...America by immi....er...Americans!"
Nifty
People with an H1B visa are documented.
So if the issue is documentation, they have it.

Musk supports the extreme-rightwing AfD in the German elections.
bass4funk
It will subside
It’s politics, what do you expect?
Not at all
Nothing on the face of this planet, now, past or in the future will there be a comedy as great (or bad, depending on your point of view) as it was with this current administration, hands down!
Oh, I definitely got mine.
Blacklabel
People in the same group having different opinions about what to do and sharing their different lived experiences on an issue really confuses the left.
so today MAGA isn’t a “cult”? lol
funkymofo
This is an incoming government that hasn't even been inaugurated.
Tokyo Guy
People in the same group having different opinions about what to do and sharing their different lived experiences on an issue really confuses the left.
Yeah, but it's possible to have different opinions without it turning into a kids' fight broadcast all over social media for everyone to see and laugh at. Plus when you elected the guy on a practically fascist-level anti-immigration platform, and now two of his groupies are giving conflicting signals on that very topic, you know you've been played.
Anyway, you really think Trump is going to brook any dissent within his kingdom? Anyone steps too far out of line or takes up too much of the limelight, he'll just call out "heel!" and they'll come along, tail wagging.
R B Quinn
Just a preview of the horror show of MAGA (More Anarchy Guaranteed Ahead) V2.0 directed by the former Insurrectionist-in-Chief.
Blacklabel
So Trump is for the limited term H1-B visa and so are the leftist here.
I also think it’s a much better idea to remove all the illegal aliens and hurt other countries competitively by “borrowing” their top talent in their prime.
Whats the actual issue then? All of you agree with me and Trump.
bass4funk
A landslide is an eek? Interesting. lol
And the Dems foiled again
I think Dems are still mad that Soros just didn’t have the clout or power they thought he did. How old is he again?
The way AOC is with the rest of her party, the woke youth lost with all her best attempts, stick a fork in their multi-sex genders agenda
Nowhere near that.
It is considering what libs have done to the public school system, I think the youth of today are worse than mediocre.
EDUCATED IMMIGRANTS and that’s because they’re not woke, they’re properly educated and trained the way people should be
Well, you need to make a choice, take on the Dems mess or you can take Musk and Vivek’s advice, do I like the idea, not so much, but given the fact at how the U.S. has become less competitive globally, public education needs to be reformed and that’s what will happen, then we wouldn’t need to seek labor outside of the U.S.
Go for it!
Hillary
No, not even close
No where near anything to that, but I will say this, had the Democrats done the right thing and taught or kids reading, writing, and math instead of radical failed progressive politics and ideology we wouldn’t be in this mess.
Some dude
There's a more or less exact parallel going on in the UK (leading members of the conservative movement slinging mud), which tells me that the modern right wing is basically a failed experiment.
When you campaign on hate and division, you can't act surprised when those things become the defining features of your party.
bass4funk
I’m not in the UK wouldn’t have a clue what they’re fighting about or why, whatever they do, hope that it’s for the best of their country whatever that is. As an American, I am concerned about the politics happening there
lincolnman
MAGA-voters getting that they voted for....more American jobs and less "foreigners"?
Nope...
Trump has clearly sided with his Top 1% billionaire immigrant donors...Elon and Vivek...
Both have tech empires that depend on tech workers...and what better way to make more billions than to hire foreign tech workers from India, South America, and China and pay them less then American tech workers...
How's that for "promises made, promises kept" MAGA-fans?
Stand by, that's just the first "screw-over" you're going to get - just wait until your health care and Social Security go up in flames...
So while Trump, Elon, Vivek, and all the rest of the Fat Cats get more rich, you'll be out of a job, broke, with no health care...that is unless you want a job picking lettuce or tomatoes...
ROFL..
Asiaman7
Blacklabel
Excellent point.
Perhaps the issue is your previous agreement with Trump when he restricted access to foreign worker visas and targeted the H-1B program.
Are you capable of thinking independently for yourself? Or do you just blindly follow Trump.
Blacklabel
you got the wrong guy. My companies also use this program. I’m against illegal aliens who cross our border with impunity to get benefits Americans don’t get and plan to stay forever.
That’s what I am obviously against. not vetted, high skill engineers to supplement gaps in our tech workforce. Who then return “home”.
try again?
lincolnman
Don't you just love it when our MAGA-fans fail to read the article before posting...and self-own bigtime...
Laura Loomer and Steve Bannon - who he now "labels" as "leftists and racists"....
Welcome to "we're self-imploding" MAGA-world...
wallace
The Musk saga will eventually backfire on the Republicans.
plasticmonkey
Well, this has nothing to do with "the left". It's between two factions of the Trump Cult: the white nationalist anti-immigration (of any kind, including H1B visas) faction, and the tech bro oligarchy faction. Trump now has to walk an impossibly fine line between keeping the rabid MAGA base fired up and angry about immigration while keeping his billionaire donor friends happy.
It's not just "having different opinions". Unless you consider the following to be healthy discussion:
--Musk, referring to the Bannon nativist wing: “And those contemptible fools must be removed from the Republican Party root and stem.” He also called them "hateful, unrepentant racists".
--Bannon called the Tesla CEO a "toddler."
--Laura Loomer called Musk “a stage 5 clinger who over stayed his welcome at Mar a Lago in an effort to become Trump’s side piece and be the point man for all of his accomplices in big Tech to slither in to Mar a Lago,”
--free speech absolutist censors Loomer
People on opposite sides of the political spectrum agreeing on one specific policy really confuses MAGA.
The point is, Trump World is going to be chaotic. Like Animal Farm.
bass4funk
In the tech industry, most Americans particularly minorities cannot read above the 8th grade level. If you can’t read or do math properly, but you can become a militant activist, how is that helping your future or the U.S.?
For the current future of the U.S., no choice for the tech industry
Well, that helps hire more Americans and hopefully we can get all of these woke instructors out and and hire instructors that are willing to to teach proper and pertinent subjects to kids and not woke garbage that serves no one.
Rhetorical question? Well, I just answered.
No screw-over there, healthcare was already in peril at this moment and SS automatically will go up in flames if they don’t make amendments, has nothing to do with with the parties
Which is good
Not really, but having a proper education is vital for success in the U.S. and the ones who went to private schools will see their dreams come to fruition, for the ones who went to private schools, the opportunities for them to seek a higher and better education at a private institution will rectify the situation.
Tokyo Guy
Well, this has nothing to do with "the left".
Bingo.
And that's what makes the MAGAbots defensive - or should I say, even more defensive than normal.
In most cases, they just pull out the "oh yeah but the left" thing. They're nearly always wrong then too, but in this case, like you pointed out, this is MAGA-on-MAGA, and the left has nothing to do with it. The left are generally probably enjoying watching the start of what will likely become a colossal implosion, leaving a lot of very big egos with significant bruises.
They couldn't even maintain the image of cohesion for two months - so after 4 years, it's anyone's guess what kind of political carnage we'll be looking at.
plasticmonkey
As Trump's next Ambassador to Greece and former future daughter-in-law famously declared, "The best is yet to come!"

Blacklabel
not the question. Are you in opposition to Trump’s position on these visas? It’s a simple question,
I’ve never been against legal immigration programs that vet people and benefit America and competitive hurt other countries.
lincolnman
Oh boy, here we go....
Read that and try not to laugh...
Just dissed all American tech workers...
And contradicted himself...
From now embracing and defending immigrants to calling Loomer and Bannon "leftists and racists" our MAGA-friends are having a MAGA-meltdown-day...and it's so enjoyable to watch...
Ken
Trump the Vice president elecg would turn against his Maga allies for his president Musk. We know how he feels about anyone that isn't "American" thd 180 turn around speed is insane
stormcrow
There’s nothing wrong with importing talented people in and inviting them to remain as citizens. It’s a smart move.
Ken
Maga and friends are now questioning their loyalty and beliefs, it's funny how some are bending over backwards to disagree with themselves from last month
plasticmonkey
So you were against Trump's crackdown on H1B visas? That's not my recollection.
These visas are fine. I occasionally agree with Trump's positions. Because I'm an adult.
You ready to disagree with Bannon/Loomer/Miller?
Ken
American's didn't like foreigner Musk calling them the "R" word when referring to engineers and how most of them are foreigners. The puppet show of who pulls the strings takes a new turn
Blacklabel
So hey who is NOT in support of Trump’s position here in this comment section?
it’s really hard to get an answer to this simple question.
seems you all agree with me and Trump and Elon and Vivek, that’s great! Welcome to the team!
I wouldn’t expect you to agree with the others you mentioned, right?
bass4funk
Sadly, yes
And that’s why your party lost. But you can continue being proud
When people are being murdered by the millions and sent to gas chambers, and rounded off and put into camps, then you can make that analogy, otherwise, you guys are making yourselves look like….well…. ROFL!

Thus the "quotation marks".
EvilBuddha
H1Bs have been used and abused by Indian IT firms (WITCHes - Wipro, Infosys, TCS, Cognizant, HCL) to displace American workers and employ Indians as indentured labor. Since the visa is tied to their employer, the H1B workers are willing to work long hours at lower wages without complaining compared to Americans because if they are fired they have 2 months to find another employer willing to sponsor their visa or they will have to leave the US. Indians take 70% of H1Bs issued every year and I know folks who could not code to save their lives go to the US on H1B for these Indian IT firms.
H1B needs a complete overhaul. There is no reason why the minimum salary for H1B should stay at 60000 USD per annum for last 3 decades. The minimum salary should be raised to 150000 USD per annum, and if an Indian is really talented the tech firms will be willing to pay that much. Google, Microsoft do hire folks from India at such salaries, and that is what H1B is meant for.
Secondly, it's not just MAGA folks which are against H1B. Most of the pseudo-liberals who project an image of being pro-immigration are also against bringing so many Indians to the US on H1B because they and their kids are affected the most when cheap IT workers undercut American wages. Pseudo-liberals are pro-immigration only as long as it's unskilled labor who will do the jobs that they or their kids don't want to do.
nishikat
Trump is NOT the president. It's Musk and he has influence over Trump
EvilBuddha
Trump is doing the right thing but at the same time Trump administration needs to look into overhauling the H1B to make sure it works as intended and is not used to undercut American wages.
Also, if Trump had not sided with Musk the pseudo-liberals commenting here would have been calling him a racist who does not want immigration from s-hole countries. You just can't argue with these people with a tunnel vision.
Blacklabel
What Bannon, et al don’t understand is that in the tech market specifically there are scarce resources. you don’t just teach what we need in a 6 week online course.
The more we take from other countries who study STEM extensively from a young age and work in it everyday , the more it helps us and hurts them.
until we can get more Americans to stop getting useless degrees and learning useless “skills”, we need such already trained and high performing resources.
Who then plan to go back home and share what more they learned with their own country.
Blacklabel
oh really? Could have sworn I saw him win the election last month, including the popular vote and an Electoral College landslide with all 7 swing states.

let’s be clear.
the american investors into zip2 were horrified to learn that musk had been in the u.s. illegally for well over a year. they set up the h1b.
he was on a student visa from canada after flunking out of university there, then dropped out after a month in the u.s.
he claims he went later went to usc, but usc says that he never enrolled or attended.
musk’s self-aggrandizing stories are all b.s. and lies. everything he has said about his life has been lies. read what biographers have written about him after years of knowing him.
his trump bro stuff has all been to help himself. he got the provision in the budget limiting investment in china killed because he is heavily invested in china.
he’s cozying up to trump so he can keep his security clearance.
he and trump both have this thing about scamming money in “chairities.” trump’s charity for kids with cancer was a scam, diverting the money to himself. he was caught and heavily fined.
musk’s charitable organization (where he parks money to avoid taxes) has never distributed any money to any charity, only to businesses owned by himself or his family.
musk is a looney tune disgrace.
Blacklabel
exactly.
That’s why they are unable to disagree or criticize Trump’s position when they want to soooooo bad, it’s instinctual. and it hurts them to their tiny little cores. Love it!

nishikat
Exactly, Musk has the real influence over Trump so it's President Elon

Many Americans believe the H1-B Visas are stealing jobs that should go to Americans
Ya can't reconcile Americans who believe that vs. Americans who believe in H1-B Visas
That fight will go on, no matter what
That also means more Americans need to graduate college or vocational schools, instead of just high school graduates
Other countries are graduating their populations into high-performing jobs
Only people who believe the US presidential election can be stolen
nishikat
Then why is Elon in charge?
