No more new missle tests.

yet NK still develops its nukes has missiles available to conduct a test anytime it see fit, just needs a bit more provocation from Trump and ...3..2..1

Rail transport links upgraded and the real possibility of linking trains from Seoul all the way to Europe.

its called the silk road, built and paid for by China

Obama relocated all the troops to Afghanistan because he said, that’s the real war not Iraq, his call.

lol a war that was already underway started by Bush, if Trump doesn't believe Afghanistan is a legitimate war then why are US troops still there and haven't been recalled!? Obama like many of Bushs policies was left to clean up the mountain of poo handed down to him

No more new missle tests.

North and South Korea at new levels of diplomacy..

Rail transport links upgraded and the real possibility of linking trains from Seoul all the way to Europe.

All this has happened or will happen under President Trump’s watch!

1,281,900 servicemembers

Obama relocated all the troops to Afghanistan because he said, that’s the real war not Iraq, his call.

It's all Trump's fault. He's president now. Good stock market and 401Ks (under Trump's watch) which means bad things under Trump's watch like this North Korea thing, no wall, no Muslim ban, and no Hillary arrest. Also, no Mueller firing. He is weak. Also, he can't lead Sessions. All under Trump.

Obama relocated all the troops

ALL the troops

"The projected active duty end strength in the armed forces for fiscal year 2017 was ,281,900 servicemembers, with an additional 801,200 people in the seven reserve components."

(WIKI quote)

All the good things happening according to Trump followers (stock market, 401Ks, black unemployment down) which means bad things happening under Trump.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

sorry dont bring this on the left , the last 3 wars were all started under Republicans.

Obama relocated all the troops to Afghanistan because he said, that’s the real war not Iraq, his call.

War should be avoided and only be a last option,*

That’s precisely what he’s trying to do, you just made my point for me. So no need to complain.

Trump needs to understand a hard-line approach wont work on NK theyll need major concessions for them to give up their nukes,

But that won’t happen. If there is one thing NK want and that’s an end to the crippling sanctions and unless they don’t denuclearize, it will only worsen. They need financial relief, food, access to cash, we don’t. But we call he shots on that and Kim and everyone knows it.

yet Kim will happily sacrifice this many to stay legitimate,

I agree, but he’s running of cash fast and one thing that Kim is worried about is losing power, both his father and grandfather had cash to always keep his men happy, well fed and motivated, now Kim already had to remove 3 top high ranked officials for fear of being a potential threat to his reign, turning up the heat and increasing sanctions to the ones already on him will accelerate the process.

just how many Americans is Trump prepared to sacrifice before the public starts to turn, History has shown KIA in Vietnam & Iraq turns public opinion pretty fast when the caskets start to pile up.

That would depend, there are many ways to fight a war not only conventional means. We have the technology, they don’t.

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Trump did win in the sense that we hold all the cards.

No more cards than any other president that came before him, who you guys called weak and pathetic... until Trump ended up in the same position at which time you try to pretend he's not what you called the other presidents.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

but more SK and Japanese would likely die than Americans,

Probably, sad as that would be.

another Korea war would never be winnable while China is supporting them,

But in this situation China is more cautious and careful about supporting NK on this one since the North Koreans said and pledged they would disarm, not much they would or could do at this point, but before that would happen, the war games would resume.

just like Syria is a lost cause while Russia is involved.

Syria and Russia are not the US, different scenario, different terrain etc.

America just has to face the fact that substantial concessions will need to be made to get NK to give up its nukes,

But that won’t happen. We did that for 25 years and nothing. Those days are over.

if Trump thinks war is a better option than giving concessions them Im sorry Americas already lost , same as Vietnam , Korean , Afghanistan, Syria

No, we just ratchet up the sanctions and make it as painfully possible for them to do anything.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Yes, you’re right, there will be some Americans that will die, but on the NK side, it’ll be 30 fold.

yet Kim will happily sacrifice this many to stay legitimate, just how many Americans is Trump prepared to sacrifice before the public starts to turn, History has shown KIA in Vietnam & Iraq turns public opinion pretty fast when the caskets start to pile up.

sorry dont bring this on the left , the last 3 wars were all started under Republicans. War should be avoided and only be a last option, Trump needs to understand a hard-line approach wont work on NK theyll need major concessions for them to give up their nukes, no sane country in their position wouldn't. Just like Iran agreed, then Trump taketh away, now Iran will start enriching Uranium again. Your move Mr master negotiator

Like for healthcare “who knew it was so complicated “. We did.

Of we all did. Trump never said it was going to be easy. He at least wanted to try or would you lefties preferred war? Please for once make up your minds!

Presumably nobody you care about.

You don’t know that, you don’t me.

It’s easy to be flippant and casual with the lives of other people when you have no skin in the game.

Doesn’t mean I can’t opine on issues.

Maybe even if it’s only your own skin? In any case, under any of the presidents (the more competent and moral ones) the realization was always that the costs of a military confrontation with the DPRK could run into the thousands of Americans, South Koreans, North Koreans and allies. Not just “some” Americans and, as you seem to be saying, with pride “30 fold” North Koreans.

Just stating th truth.

Well, actually Trump did win in the sense that we hold all the cards. NK are under the heaviest sanctions, more to come, they have economical, social problems, an aging military fleet, outdated military equipment, lack of food, the US on the other hand has everything to fight a war. Yes, there is a chance Americans will die as well, that is what happens in war.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Bottom line Trump pretty much said he’d solve it lickety-split where all others had failed. Met with Kim. Then declared victory. Now, as we told you beforehand it was never going to be that easy. Power to Trump that eventually sorts it out. But only the low info crazies bought that it was going to be any easier for him. Like for healthcare “who knew it was so complicated “. We did.

@serrano, just like we knew better about Iraq. Didn’t take us a new president to follow to explain it to us

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Yes, you’re right, there will be some Americans that will die, but on the NK side, it’ll be 30 fold.

If 300,000 North Koreans die how many Americans with that ratio, and who is going to pay for all this? More than Iraq.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

unfortunatly Mattis will need a lot on bombs and bullets if hes called in , will most likely mean thousands will die and it wont be only North Koreans that do.

Well if there’s anything the US has that the left always complain about is too much ammo, technology, stealth, unmatched fire power, satellites, access to Kim’s accounts. Yes, you’re right, there will be some Americans that will die, but on the NK side, it’ll be 30 fold.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

It's nice to know that Mattis is on the sidelines waiting, but he might want to jump into the game.

seriously dude you got to stop using that hippy nobody on youtube with zero credibility he doesnt even have that many subscribers, he loves to show his bare chest though. Bit like a conspiracy theorists version of the naked news.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

With all of this leverage we have why is there no progress?

because the only real leverage is war and that will mean thousands of Koreans and Japanese die, if nukes are used millions. Trump cant negotiate the thought of giving something to NK in return for their nukes just doesnt compute. NK would never give up its nukes on Americas word theyll be rewarded, we know while Trump is POTUS Americas word is like a piece of toilet paper

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Trump's been in office for a year and a half and

Stock market is up because of Trump so the NK failure is Trump's fault. No cherry picking. It's all on Trump. Good things or bad things, it's all due to Trump because he has complete control in the WH.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

But it was good that the President has the will and fortitude to directly talk to Kim unlike the other weak Presidents that wouldn’t try attempting it.

because other POTUS knew it would be a waste of time, Trump thought hed try and milk some political points with NK, he failed and NK still on their way to an ICBM that can reach the east cost of the US, thats a big fail no matter how you look at it. So that celebratory round of golf and piece of chocolate cake when he got back from Singapore was all for nothing. Your move Mr master negotiator

2 ( +2 / -0 )

That’s not what the hungry and frustrated Kim regime thinks.

NK has been hungry and frustrated for 20yrs, yet Kim doesnt look malnourished and his military still develops nukes, voter backlash, public uprising LOL you'll disappear if you ever got that idea of that in NK. Your move Mr master negotiator

1 ( +1 / -0 )

That’s not what the hungry and frustrated Kim regime thinks.

With all of this leverage we have why is there no progress?

The deal may be falling apart, but Kim is in desperate need of the sanctions to be released

Yeah, this whole new sanctions thing must be really stressful for them, not having been under sanctions for the past couple of decades.

...oh wait...

I thought Skanky Daniels was supposed to take him out.

Every little bit builds up. The only real question is which piece of straw will break the camel's back.

Trump jumped the gun again, no surprise.

It's nice to know that Mattis is on the sidelines waiting, but he might want to jump into the game.

Trump has been a zero on North Korea.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Yeah! And he managed to get a worse deal and give away stuff for free, all for a deal he now is admitting is falling through! Go Dear Leader!

The deal may be falling apart, but Kim is in desperate need of the sanctions to be released, if he doesn’t Mattis is on the sidelines waiting.

I am just so happy Europeans can’t vote in the US. Lol

Sanctions which you called weak when other presidents were doing it.

But not like these and more to come.

Glad to know Trump lives up to what you think is weak

As in Kim, I do

Sanctions which you called weak when other presidents were doing it.

Glad to know Trump lives up to what you think is weak, even if you aren't willing to admit it.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Not at all. But it was good that the President has the will and fortitude to directly talk to Kim unlike the other weak Presidents that wouldn’t try attempting it.

He also showed himself to be a master negotiator, getting Trump to drop the war games for absolutely nothing in return

Which will resume at any time. Too bad forcKim, but it’s not too late to denuclearize.

, and even got Trump to lower the expectations that previous administrations had negotiated

But we got the money they don’t. Oh, my all those starving soldiers, unrest growing and Trump won’t release the sanctions.

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Trump's been in office for a year and a half and has 6 and a half years to go.

If I were a betting man (I’m not, but if I was) I’d be more inclined to bet on him not lasting out the year. All the dominoes are starting to fall.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Thanks Bass, for showing that us Trump, counter to your claims, wasn’t the only one to bring home American soldiers from NK. I was surprised you admitted it, much less listed an article! I didn’t see that coming.

Oh my...

The Legacy Media Still Misunderstands Trumps North Korea Strategy

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Therefore North Korea will require harsh treatment for the foreseeable future.

NK has had harsh treatment for the last 20yrs yet there still there, theyre like an Alabama tick , you just can seem to dig the sucker out. Only problem now is this tick has nukes and a delivery system, sanctions dont work and war will mean 100s thousands if not millions die. your move Mr master negotiator

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Oh, so you don't know either, but you don't want to give Trump a chance. Pffft!

oh it wouldnt matter if we gave him a chance or not, hes said he was going to use his master negotiator skills to solve Americas problems yet hes failed on almost all of them so far, especially his signature policies. You really should brag about how good you are then cant live up to your words later on, just makes you look like blow hard

2 ( +3 / -1 )

You got a better idea? No? lol

well Trump certainly doesnt hes just doing what previous POTUS have tried and failed and now hes failed also.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

You guys try so very hard though.

dont need to try the fact remains that the returned remains of soldiers started under Clinton and was stopped under Bush, since Trump hasnt achieved denuclearizartion it would seem fair that he stop also.

There was no need to hold your breath as Trump isnt the only POTUS to negotiate these returns.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Stranger: "I gave Trump a chance"

The summit with Kim was a couple of months ago. Trump's been in office for a year and a half and has 6 and a half years to go. Oh my.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

Between 1990 and 2005, North Korea returned 229 caskets containing the remains of American soldiers, and repatriated another six soldiers in 2007.

see didn't need to hold your breath after-all

When you tell a story, please don’t cherry pick.

Between 1996 and 2005, an agreement between the U.S. and North Korea allowed for recovery of some 229 personnel. DoD entities that preceded the formation of DPAA worked jointly with the Korean People’s Army and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 33 missions over that period. But President George W. Bush ended that agreement because of North Korea’s development of nuclear weapons and safety issues surrounding the recovery teams.

A Defense Department report later found that during that recovery period, North Korea had already recovered bones and planted them back in fighting positions, according to the New York **Times.**

Since 2005, no recovery teams have been allowed to cross into the country, and it’s unclear whether that will change following the Singapore summit.

You guys try so very hard though.

-6 ( +0 / -6 )

What were the economic numbers again?

Fairly similar to early 2008.

Oh my.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Oh, so you don't know, but you don't want to give Trump a chance. Pffft!

I gave Trump a chance, but then he went in and negotiated a weaker position than previous presidents, giving away more than previous presidents for nothing in return, all after he and his zealots went on about how previous presidents were weak and hadn't done anything.

You can try to spin it as not giving Trump a chance, but I'm just pointing out how stupid Trump and his followers were for thinking he was even up to par with previous administrations who did better than he has.

I know you guys like to pretend you can say anything, then not be called on it after you are shown to have been completely clueless about what you were talking about, but this is the real world, and we're going to call you out when it's shown you made comments that weren't born of reality.

wtf: "why do you need the anti Trumpers to tell you, youve got the best negotiator in the history of the world in charge."

Oh, so you don't know either, but you don't want to give Trump a chance. Pffft!

Stranger: "he’s ruining the US as a result."

What were the economic numbers again? Oh my...

And when was the last time N Korea fired a missile? Oh my...

-4 ( +0 / -4 )

As for China, what did he expect? He asked for China's help with regards to NK, then declared trade war on them. Of course China is going to stop helping! Does he really expect other countries to do his bidding even after quarreling with them?! That's so tunnel-vision

He’s a moron that way. Like how he thinks he can add a 25% tariff on imported steel to give business to step plants, without having American businesses that rely on steel go under as a result. This mindset of so many on the right that problems would be easy to fix if only someone had the guts to do X, is simplistic childish thinking. Unfortunately Trump seems to be the human embodiment of such simplistic thinking, and he’s ruining the US as a result.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

The surprise announcement appeared to mark a concession by the president to domestic and international concerns that his prior claims of world-altering progress on the peninsula had been strikingly premature.

Trump should had already learned from previous administrations that, in regards to North Korea, don't be so quick to pat yourself in the back and prematurely proclaim achievements until after it actually happens

At least now he knows he was wrong. International diplomacy is not easy as he always boasts, like he also did with trade wars

As for China, what did he expect? He asked for China's help with regards to NK, then declared trade war on them. Of course China is going to stop helping! Does he really expect other countries to do his bidding even after quarreling with them?! That's so tunnel-vision

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Guys,

This is a Trump textbook move. Just like his restate deals. Get investors all excited. Then pull funding halfway through the project. The sub the rest out a little bit at a time.

Trumpeth giveth then taketh away.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

still waiting for you anti-Trumpers to tell us how to de-nuke N Korea without killing a good percentage of them.

Why are you waiting for that? We never told you we had the answer. Your dear leader did though - but once again it's been shown he was just yapping like a little puppy with a small-paws complex, and didn't actually have any clue what he was talking about.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

"Must suck to see your Dear Leader going down in flames"

Dream on. And still waiting for you anti-Trumpers to tell us how to de-nuke N Korea without killing a good percentage of them.

-10 ( +0 / -10 )

Well , how many Presidents got back the remains of our fallen soldiers?

A more pertinent question would be how many used it for their own political benefit.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

" I guess someone won't be receiving a Nobel Peace Prize!"

Heck, give another one to Obama, lol

"Trump's been ineffective on N Korea"

How many rockets has N Korea fired since Nov.28 last year? Zero?

Amazing how not one poster here stands with the president of the United States in his efforts to de-nuke N Korea, as if you all know how to do it.

Trump is exactly correct. North Korea is China's lapdog. Obviously since China is upset about us taking care of our own workers, China has no interest in forcing its lapdog to cooperate with us. Therefore North Korea will require harsh treatment for the foreseeable future.

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

Maybe Trump has finally learned that lots of smiles, photos and handshakes just aren't enough when you're trying to work out an important deal.

The big problem for the rest of us is the fact that he's over 70 years old in charge of one of the superpowers and he still doesn't know better.

Old and wise he's not.

Old and foolish he is.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Yes, THE DEAL WAS DONE.

Better deals than this one were done by previous presidents - whom you all called weak. Suddenly Trump is weaker than them (his deal isn't as good as deals other presidents got), and suddenly you're back to some sort of mental gymnastics to pretend you knew what you were talking about.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

how many Presidents got back the remains of our fallen soldiers?

We gave you a list last time you asked that question, then you just pretended it never happened.

Anyways, the list is:

-- Obama

-- Little Bush

-- Clinton

-- Big Bush

Between 1990 and 2005, North Korea returned 229 caskets containing the remains of American soldiers, and repatriated another six soldiers in 2007. In 2015, North Korea returned the remains of Robert V. Witt, an American soldier who was taken prisoner and died of malnutrition in Jan. 1951, after his identity was confirmed with DNA tests.

(Trump) is trying to pressure China on trade doing this. Brilliant move.

One might threaten China or cajole it, but not both at once. Trade between NK and China - the only trade that matters, really - is now again free-flowing. Brilliant.

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Bass: Now as far as denuclearization is done, KIM has to denuclearize NOT the US, so of course it’s not his fault, now if the US was supposed to denuclearize and we didn’t then you could say it’s his fault, but Kim was supposed to. Anyway, nice try.

Well, there ya have it.

I thought you voted for Trump because he was the one who would provide the breakthrough that weak Obama couldn’t. I guess he really is like every other politician, as you often say.

4 ( +5 / -1 )

good move, he is trying to pressure China on trade doing this. Brilliant move.

a denuked NK is good for both the US and China, NK stays legitimate and acts as a buffer between US influence in SK. placing tariffs on Chinese goods doesnt help China or the USA. Remove the Chinese tariffs and Im sure China will force NK to disarm, seems like a win win win for China all around. Brilliant move China

3 ( +3 / -0 )

It's almost like he didn't do the job he said he did in Singapore. #shocker

He did, NK was supposed to denuclearize, they didn’t, not his fault. Talk to Kim.

That this story starts out 'In a surprise announcement on Twitter' is..... just sad. Our government now makes public announcements on twitter.

No one is surprised or sad, we all just hoped and wanted to give NK the benefit of a doubt. Looks like the war games are about to resume and harder sanctions are coming. Oh, well, the President gave him the chance.

Does this mean we can't 'sleep well tonight'?

A fool flatters himself, a wise man flatters the fool. 2. Never tell a fool he is a fool. All you'll have is an angry fool. 3. Before a man talks, it is always safe to assume that he is a fool. President Donald Trump said Friday he has directed Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to delay a planned trip to North Korea, citing insufficient progress on denuclearization.

Well..delaying it won't make any difference. There's insufficient progress on denuclearization now, and there will be insufficient progress at whatever time Pompeo goes. Still puzzled about that Ford exec....

Trump put some blame on Beijing, saying he does not believe China is helping "because of our much tougher Trading stance."

China wasn't helping before the current trade issues. And they won't be helping even if there weren't any.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

The US had arranged an international regime that had NK locked down. It could have led to genuine change.
