The two groups of people Trump has good words for outside of his family are people who sexually assault children and totalitarian dictators.

ISIS likes to claim responsibility for any terrorist attack they can. And because people don't always use the most critical of thinking, they believe them.
Trump uses this same tactic in trying to get praise from the people. If anything good happens on his watch, both he and his zealots take credit for it.
The summit between the two Korean presidents happened because the two Korean presidents wanted it to happen, and made it happen.
Trump sitting on his golden throne had nothing to do with it.

Maybe or maybe not. Only Kim really knows whether that's true or not. But since Trump did something, people will decide that he is responsible. This is what I was referring to with ISIS taking credit for any terrorist activities they can. It's the same thing. People may do terrorist attacks in ISIS name, but does that make ISIS responsible? If Kim reaches out to S Korea while Trump is screaming of hellfire, does that make Trump responsible?
Again, maybe, maybe not. Trying to claim it definitely does is not logical.
Personally, I'm thinking that the implosion of their nuclear test site, crippling their nuclear program, that caused Kim to reach out. Nuclear weapons were his ace in the hole, and without being able to test them, he lost that ace. That provides a LOT of incentive to find some other solution for Kim to keep himself in power long-term.

"It was a different world," Trump said Monday of his one-time moniker for the North Korean leader. "That was a dangerous time. This is one year later, a much different time."
Not according to the intelligence agencies. But, sure, we'll take your word for it. It's not like you're a documented compulsive liar.

Trump has been ineffective on North Korea.

The real hero behind all this is Moon Jae-in.
He is the voice of reason versus the voice of treason and uncertainty.

katsu: "The two groups of people Trump has good words for outside of his family are people who sexually assault children and totalitarian dictators."
You forgot white supremacists.
Gremlin.Gaijin
Basically correct but, have you ever heard the Orange Idiot utter any 'good words' about Donald Jr.?

extanker: "Trump standing up to Kim's threats is what brought Kim to the table."
Ummm... no. What brought Kim (back) to the table was the absolute desperation of the nation coupled with the fact that Kim is smarter than Trump by a mile and knows he can manipulate him in similar ways Putin (whom Trump also adores) can. Now suddenly Kim is being respected by the leader of the US. And all this while Kim continues to do nothing towards denuclearization despite that being what the Trump WH demanded.

Yeah, any starving NK peasant would say the third fatty is a terrific guy. I mean, look what he's done for the world. Ought to be up for a Nobel prize!

Yes, if by "we" you mean barely literate, conspiracy peddling conservatives.
Wakarimasen
Sweet. Must say his new declaration of a war on drugs was less sweet. more wasted money and lives for no good reason.
Gremlin.Gaijin
But, but, but, we all know that the intelligence agencies can't be trust, don't we?
Gremlin.Gaijin
Agreed, but I'm inclined to go one step further and say: *The summit between the two Korean presidents happened BECAUSE Trump, sitting on his golden potty, had nothing to do with it.*

Orange Orangutan is kissing Marshmallow Head's fanny again. Summit my butt! Reagan (and Bush 41) and Gorbachev ever acted so pompous yet so subservient and stupid like this. This jive from Benedict Dotard is nothing but a joke.
Alexandre T. Ishii
He is childish enough to show it's much than anything for his next election, very poppy and jumping popcorn!
starpunk
'War on drugs', yeah. And those pharmaceutical greedies have kept pushing these opoid and fentanyl prescriptions on the public for decades, getting them hooked just to make a buck.
Gremlin.Gaijin
Could this actually be another ‘covfefe’ moment from the Orange Idiot?
You know, where got confused again and said terrific, when he really meant to say TERRIFYING?
Goodlucktoyou
Me tinks NK and SK want to reunify and have peace. Up until now, apart from Reagen and Bush, American presidents have been smart. Now with the idio in command, they have a big chance. He is so preoccupied with Iran and China, he probably thinks NK is a tinny whiny mosquito.

Well usually when you try something new after repeating the same thing over and over with no results, you can credit the new thing you tried when things change.

I'm going to start with this: Trump is a buffoon. But he is not an idiot and even a broken clock is right twice a day.
Trump standing up to Kim's threats is what brought Kim to the table. No one has ever pushed back at Kim. They either placated him or waited for him to go away. Suddenly Kim is talking friendly to everyone around him and no one is willing to admit that the one thing that was done differently just might be the cause.
Of course he is saying nice things about him. Now that he's gotten Kim to the table, he's trying to get him to play along. You catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

The recent summit between the Korean presidents was historic and happened because of President Trump.
