Vote will proceed and Supreme Court control for generations. That success alone ensures reelection. Plus replacing Ginsberg next year, icing on the cake.

You can tell by the media and Twitter, the concerted effort. “Arbitrary”, “credible accusations”, “violent sexual assault”.

You figure if you say it enough times one of those things might actually and magically become true.

Its not arbitrary, testimony to make it credible or not is being declined, and we don’t know yet if it was violent, sexual, or assault.

But media keeps repeating same phrases to feed the rabid base. How about proving the allegations are real before you go to advanced coordinated phrasing?

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Im not a Democrat and I support her,

I’m a conservative and support Kavanaugh.

I think she has a right to testify before a committee and even the FBI. Having said that if she lying she can go to jail, if shes telling the truth then Kavanaugh has no right being a supreme court judge.

I agree, but the problem is, there is No way we will ever know.

Youre being intentionally obtuse. Obama was a democrat and thevrepubs controlled the senate. Trump's a republican and repubs control the senate. Trump is not forcing anything to happen

But the Democrats are masters at circumventing the process, gotta hand it them, always resourceful.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

The BUT is Always telling. It basically negates what precedes it.

For example?

At the very least, in your comment on "selective outrage" you direct 100% in the wrong places, and defend Trump and those who further belittle and berate the victim while defending a person being accused of sexual assault. No surprise, but stop trying to pretend you have any moral high ground.*

How stupid! He didn’t belittle this woman, give me a break. She’s not some kewpie doll. He asked the woman to make a statement. Liberals are all over the place. If she’s serious, she will do whatever she has to to make her claim instead of moving the goal post. Trump and the GOP in my opinion gave her too much slack and McConnell is right, one more day and that’s all she gets. That’s not making fun, that’s saying, if you're serious, speak out or be quiet stand out of the way and let the process continue.

Dem was on tv saying when they retake the house and senate they are going to open a investigation against Kavanaugh as a sitting justice.

Just another reason for the good people of America to vote Republican in November. Don’t need any more time wasting nonsense investigations. (Hi Mueller)

Dems doing what republicans have been doing makes the Dems look bad?

There is zero way you can know Mueller's investigation is nonsense. He's already brought criminals to justice. Why are you soft on crime?

Yeah all that circular logic and avoiding reality must be exhausting. Work is starting and there are 9 slots so that it isn’t a waste of time. Only 8 people are hired.

So employee #9 is hired and ready to work. the vote will be held and he will go to work.

When my office goes through the hiring process, we would never hire someone accused of committing a violent sexual assault just because it looks nice to have all the seats filled at the start of the year. Getting the right worker for the job is more important than just filling a seat with whatever potentially unqualified body is handy at the time.

So why do Republicans not want to live up to the standards of my small and frankly low-stakes office? Don't they claim to be the "law and order" party? Doesn't it make sense then to guarantee that the appointments they make to the highest arbiter of law in the land have themselves obeyed the law?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

Ya know kinda like all the Roy Moore accusers disappeared the day after the election.

Dropped from national headlines.

If the vote is delayed long enough to prevent Kavanaugh from going to work on 1 October you will never hear this person say a word under oath EVER.

Just like the IG report would demonstrate corruption and bias? Just like Rudy would shut down Mueller?

Pointing out how you argument was applicable to Scalia's seat is circular logic and being detached from reality? Some people don't understand what logic or reality means.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

No actually you haven’t. You just want to think you have. Just like you want to think this vote will not be held. This deadline has both meaning and purpose and being set for a reason. Thus not arbitrary in any way.

i think a lot of people don’t know what the word arbitrary means. If the latest time you can leave home to get to work by any method available is 9am, that’s not an arbitrary departure time. It’s factual with an unwanted result (you are late to work) if not met.

We've explained why your argument fails logically.

there was reason. Someone died.

The process of vetting SCOTUS justices doesn't change based on how the vacancy was created. All justices should be vetted according to only the most stringent evaluation - at least if you're a true conservative.

So why are Republicans desperate to fill this seat now, when in the last administration they were perfectly happy to take a lackadaisical approach?

1 ( +2 / -1 )

It benefits liberals to make Kavanaugh late for work. Cause then he can’t work until next year. Which suits your whole resistance goal very well.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

there was reason. Someone died. That was a real event that couldnt be resolved.

Yes, it could have been resolved had repugnant republicans voted on Garaland. That was difficult.

And nothing got done just 4 liberals voting partisan on everything to make everything tied 4-4.

4 conservatives voting partisan on everything.

its not an arbitrary deadline. Someone will miss the start of his new job if the deadline not met. And our country will suffer as many judgements are waiting.

Which is the exact same situation you guys were okay with after Scalia died.

I'm so exhausted from solving the intractable issues you laid out.

Juanita Broderick isn’t to be believed? She said she can take the opportunity that Ford has been given to testify under oath about her own story instead.

There is no “arbitrary” deadline. The Supreme Court session starts Oct 1. If they don’t vote by Wednesday the final vote can’t be held this month which means he misses the deadline.

Republicans were perfectly happy with an empty justice's seat for a year during Obama's presidency, so yes, it is arbitrary to say that suddenly now we have to have all justices in place before the session starts.

So again, why do Republicans think it is so urgent to fill this seat right now when just a short time ago they thought we could go a whole year with an 8-justice SCOTUS?

3 ( +3 / -0 )

How long did the SC operate with 8 justices after Scalia died? This means the deadline is arbitrary.

Why do you think the accuser isn’t available until Thursday under ANY scenario? So there IS a real deadline and Dems know this. So delay delay delay one day at a time

-5 ( +0 / -5 )

Why is it necessary for a single Democrat to support Kavanaugh?

Conservatives, an answer here please.

Republicans control the Senate and the House. They should go slowly and carefully so that they can be confident the right justice has been appointed.

Exactly.

Why is getting Kavanaugh in before an arbitrarily-set deadline more important than knowing the truth of if he is fit to sit on the court?

Conservatives, another answer here, please.

When answering, let's stick to Kavanaugh and not bring in leftists/liberals/Keith Elliot/the Podesta brothers/Hillary/a bigot on YouTube with no shirt/Obama, etc.

Just a concise, relevant answer to those two questions.

Untrue, I've explained it numerous times already. The SCOTUS is too important to appoint justices we don't know the full story about.

What a bunch of BS! We are talking about 2 women you can't tell me that one woman has to take a backseat who made tangible claims and documented police records and say, we don't have the man power or resources to help you, but we need t o prioritize because Ford's so far empty claims are more important you need to wait and Keith Ellison, he's one of us, so we really don't need to look into him or the allegations deal with it and we will get to you and your claims when we need to or if we want to. Kavanaugh on the other hand, we need to find a way to stop him from sitting on the SC so we have to do everything in our power to stop it.

I don't want to hear the BS from the left that they care about women's rights when the Dems won't even investigate one of their own. Hypocrites.

The GOP have concealed 1000s of Kavanaugh's records and is trying to rush through a serious accusation, just to get this appointment finished by an arbitrary deadline. Why the rush?

If the Democrats can play dirty and try to usurp the political process and try everything they can to block this nominee then the GOP should do everything they can to make sure Kavanaugh gets through the process and after that, the Dems can try and take whatever action they want and make their complaints accordingly. But Ford has 3 hours left, the clock is ticking, if she is still a No show, the votes will go forward.

Why is the volunteer Trump propaganda corps so terrified to answer this very simple question?

Why do the left continue to play this game of delay, delay, delay?

Wow, you used an awful lot of words to run away from my question.

Again, why do Republicans think it is so necessary to rush to judgment by an arbitrarily-set deadline?

“I have days where, if I come home — and I don't want to sound too much like a chauvinist,” the President said, “but when I come home and dinner's not ready, I go through the roof.”

So what’s the problem. My mother went through the roof if I didn’t clean my room or washed our dog.

If I have to explain it, it's clear you'll never understand. To female readers, the above is what Trump and his supporters think of you....

NO, we just Horono to shut her mouth!

Female readers, more evidence that Trump supporters think women should "keep their mouths shut and stay in the kitchen"...

And the voices of these 19 women have no value either...

"At the very least, in your comment on "selective outrage" you direct 100% in the wrong places, and defend Trump and those who further belittle and berate the victim..."

The victim here is almost certainly Kavanaugh. I mean seriously, what are the chances Ford is telling the truth and Kavanaugh is lying? From the information we have, it's near zero.

"while defending a person being accused of sexual assault"

Innocent before proven guilty? Nah, not anymore - not when we need a liberal on the Supreme Court!

So her lawyer is demanding an extra day to decide whether or not to testify. A real victim would not need more time. Anyway, they need an extra day to write the story for her.

But I have a feeling this is a dud. His accuser will be given time to make her claims, but she has to go first and we will see at least in the eyes of the public who is believable.

Who cares what the public believes? It depends on what the Judiciary Committee and Senate think.

The people's voice will be heard in November.

Trump, genius that he is, has just acknowledged that an attack of the type described is bad. Kavanaugh has unhesitatingly denied it,

And with good reason.

but it would be worth attempting to establish the truth of an incident, especially considering that 3 people were supposedly present. If it did happen, Kavanaugh is a liar and willing to commit perjury, which would destroy his legitimacy as a candidate.

Other famous abusers of women Trump has recently defended:

Trump on Roy Moore

"He says it didn't happen and you have to listen to him also."

Trump on Bill O'Reilly

"He's a good person...I don't think Bill would do anything wrong."

Trump on Roger Ailes

"It's very sad because he's a very good person. Now all of a sudden they're saying these horrible things about him."

What is frightening about Trump is his clear inability to control himself.

How so, he's supposed to just not say anything? I'm actually surprised he didn't go Ape nuts on the Democrats, I would have. props to him for keeping his composure.

I agree with Bass - Trump should go "ape nuts" and tell us all how he really feels about this woman - he should tell us what he thinks of her looks just like he did with Carly Fiorina and Rosie O'Donnnell. Tell us if she is a "dog" like he's described other women. Let it rip Mr President, tell all those women voters out there how you really see them....

Ford discredit herself, she brought nothing but baseless accusations and the GOP has given her all the time they could and should and offered to fly to her wherever she is, she can come to Washington testify publicly or privately and she has the audacity to make demands on how she wants these claims to be processed. Sorry, I will say what many in Washington are thinking, this woman seems with each passing moment that her claims are baseless and without merit, she has an hour left before her window of opportunity closes. Either put up or shut up.

I have no problems with Americans bickering among ourselves. We've been doing it for centuries. I have no problems with individuals from around the world joining in on the bickering. That includes private citizens from Russia, China, Iran, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, North Korea. What I do have a problem with is individuals whose jobs are paid by their governments to increase the level of bickering.

Love it when Trump says it like it is.

Me too...

You can never go wrong with candor and honesty.

Certainly can't...

“Before a show, I’ll go backstage and everyone’s getting dressed, and everything else, and you know, no men are anywhere, and I’m allowed to go in because I’m the owner of the pageant and therefore I’m inspecting it,” he said. “You know, I’m inspecting because I want to make sure that everything is good.”

“You know, they’re standing there with no clothes. ‘Is everybody okay?’” he continued. “And you see these incredible looking women, and so, I sort of get away with things like that.”

According to interviews BuzzFeed News conducted with former Miss Teen USA contestants, Trump did just that in 1997. Four women who were competing in the pageant that year — including one who was 15 at the time — recalled that Trump walked into the dressing area while they were changing.

1 ( +9 / -8 )

I am going to set aside the issue related to Trump questioning the credibility of the accuser for a moment. As for Trump's tweets...we we know he has no class and he is like a middle school child in his communication methods and manners. Also for the record I am very much against Trump as a president and not at all a supporter as Kavanaugh as the nominee. I am trying to take a step back and see this from a non-political point of view and its implications going forward.

Regarding this case:

This attack allegedly occurred 36 years ago. The accuser (Dr. Ford) cannot remember exactly when or where this took place but remembers it happened. All involved were minors and presumably drinking. The other parties deny being in this situation.

The media and Hollywood as well as several prominent Democrats have accused Kavanaugh as being guilty already based only on the word of one person who cannot remember details of the event.

Hawaii senator Mazie Hirono has said,  "And I just want to say to the men in this country, just shut up and step up. Do the right thing — for a change.". Senator Hirono is asking all men to take a stand against Kavanaugh against the word of one woman.

Regardless on my feelings about Kavanaugh I find the traction this issue has gained to be frightening. This will be one person's word against another. The accuser cannot state where and exactly when this occurred. This allegedly occurred when all parties were drinking and were minors. Finally, there will be absolutely no physical evidence (or any other type of evidence) that can be presented to support a prosecution or verdict.

If a person can be found guilty of a crime under the above circumstances we have officially become a Stalinist state. Even the argument that Kavanaugh may be elected to the highest court in the land does not hold water in this case due to the lack of evidence. Also I understand the testimonies of trauma experts who say victims of trauma often have trouble remembering details; but to convict a person of a crime with no evidence based on the words of one person after more than 3 1/2 decades? This is scary stuff.

I am very much against Trump and I am against Kavanaugh's confirmation but if one removes politics and thinks pragmatically about this issue this is very scary.

If Kavanaugh did this; it is terrible. However if I were a juror in a trial and I was asked to accuse a man of this crime based on the testimony of one person with no evidence? The verdict is obvious.

Oh how far my country of birth has fallen....in so many ways....makes one sad

10 ( +14 / -4 )

Kavanaugh meanwhile, his accuser won’t even show up to start the process. And Ellison’s accuser is being buried by Dems. They have no interest in her story whatsoever. Despite her having evidence of her claims, unlike Ford.

-10 ( +6 / -16 )

The advice and consent constitutional process has been completed by the Senate. Judge Kavanaugh passed six full Federal background checks - more than 99.99% of Americans.

Why do the left continue to play this game of delay, delay, delay?

@burnigbsh Love it when Trump says it like it is.

Earlier this week a GoTrumping poster - cla68? the FritzX?- said 'it like it is' in that he and 90% of his school mates used to assault women in its attempt to justify, hopefully to a minority of males, Kavanaugh and Trump's behaviors.

That was a 'sick' saying it like it is, as is Trump's.

I'm going to be so happy when the absolute worst human being in the country is no longer president.

You will need to wait about 6 more years. Until that time maybe Canada would be better for you.

No one can explain why the Dems at every turn are asking for delaying, delaying and more delaying?

Untrue, I've explained it numerous times already. The SCOTUS is too important to appoint justices we don't know the full story about. The GOP have concealed 1000s of Kavanaugh's records and is trying to rush through a serious accusation, just to get this appointment finished by an arbitrary deadline. Why the rush?

Why is the volunteer Trump propaganda corps so terrified to answer this very simple question?

I'm going to be so happy when the absolute worst human being in the country is no longer president.

I’ll be happier when most of these despicable Democrats are gone as well.

Kavanaugh is probably holding his head with both hands right now wishing, "Please be quiet. Please be quiet. I'm already having enough problems trying to convince my wife I didn't do it."

I don’t think so, I think he’s thinking the Presidents got my back and I always believe in the presumption of innocence.

But seriously, how would you like to have a famous lech like Donald J. Trump defending you when you've been accused sexual assaulting someone?

Depends on what the allegations are, liberals think that if you are associated with Trump in any capacity you are guilty and don’t deserve any respect or due process.

It's no surprise that the same community that met her initial story with odes to rape itself would respond with violent threats. What's disturbing is the people on the right who claim to be morally righteous sitting by with nothing to say while this woman is harassed by a mob.

Yes, it’s wrong, but I don’t hear the left condemning the threats hurled at Kavanaugh and his family. So once again the left are showing their selective outrage.

But what's weird is that no one can explain why it is necessary to rush through this investigation.

No one can explain why the Dems at every turn are asking for delaying, delaying and more delaying?

started asking this question yesterday and though IO got numerous responses, each and every one avoided answering this basic point. Why shouldn't we go slowly and investigate this properly?

I feel the same, I never got an answer and no answered my why this woman that has and I’m sorry to say this zero credibility because she claims something, but doesn’t have proof, doesn’t want to be interviewed, but wants the FBI to investigate something that is not even their job, the woman doesn’t know the time, location, many people that know Kavanaugh and were there at the party can’t recall this woman, the left are so serious about getting to the bottom, meanwhile Keith Ellison was hit with tangible police records of his ex saying he physically and verbally assaulted her, documented, recent, the Democrats said they were going to launch an ethics probe and still nothing, why is it Ellison’s former girlfriends accusation are not taken seriously, followed up on, but Ford’s is? They are both women, one is credible, the other not so much, one has documents and police records, the other doesn’t. Where is the #metoo movement? Is Ellison’s former girlfriend not as important or are the left just as usual blowing political selective outrage again?

And now Trump is a character witness for Kavanaugh regarding sexual assault?!

Kavanaugh is probably holding his head with both hands right now wishing, "Please be quiet. Please be quiet. I'm already having enough problems trying to convince my wife I didn't do it."

"She has been receiving death threats, which have been reported to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and she and her family have been forced out of their home," Ford's lawyers said in a letter published by U.S. media.

So is the Dem strategy to draw this nomination out for two more years? Then run on a platform of less jobs and more illegal aliens? Good luck with that

"She has been receiving death threats, which have been reported to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and she and her family have been forced out of their home,"

Some continue to deny that among Trump's most ardent supporters, those supporters who can be classified as cult45ists, are people who will threaten to kill those who won't bow down and pledge allegiance to their political messiah. And these cult members are most likely very heavily armed with personal arsenals the size of a military unit.

Their political messiah is a male alleged to have assaulted numerous women throughout his life, a male who bragged about serving his own private Vietnam by avoiding STDs from all the women he claims to have had sex with, a known serial philanderer, a man who’s been proud of paying huuuge amounts of money to prostitutes and porn stars, a man who views his own daughter as an object.

How many women serve in key positions in Trump’s cabinet?
