THIS is just the beginning. Republicans have 100% control of the federal government now (minus checks and balances). We'll see how they do and we'll make it through if we end up with another Cheney/Bush administration. They're on a four year probation period.

I think the people around Trump (Giuliani, Gingrich, etc) are even more dangerous than Trump himself.

More Americans voted for Hillary. Trump lost the popular vote. It turned out everything about Trump is smaller, including his vote totals.

With business experiences, Trump will listen and work for rebuilding America in a new direction that will seal fairly with the rest of the world. As Obama said "campaign is over, people spoke, and there is mandate to be done", and that should be. A responsible and law abiding citizen will move on in spite of different views and resolve. Guiliani, Geinrich, Session, Bolton, Flynn..... will help Trump to navigate and drain the swamp as law required.

...and Bill Clinton won in 1992 with only 43% of the popular vote. That's the system in the US, it is designed to limit the power of high population states and grant a bit more regional parity. Water under the bridge.

One thing that Trump is very good at is picking staff. He delegates responsibility very very well, it is a necessary talent for a businessman. Given the large support for Republicans at the state level and within the business community, he will have a large talent pool to choose from.

Time for the Democrats to reorganize their party, leave the old white people behind (Clintons, Pelosi, Reid, Biden), and rebuild from a younger demographic. Trump actually got MORE of the hispanic vote than Romney, and also a majority of the white college educated vote. Depending on the urban elite and shaming by the Hollywood/entertainment community is not a recipe for success.

I am confident that our Fuhrer will do what it takes to make America great again. He has said it so many times that, ach ja, how could it not be true? With the wise and steady counsel of Giuliani, Gingrich, Sessions, Bolton, and Flynn (fine, tough-talking, red-blooded he-men all of them), Donald Trump (may he reign a thousand years!) will navigate fearlessly the swamp that is Washington while simultaneously draining it of all foul-smelling liquid. And there, at the bottom, we will find the pot of gold that America has for so long yearned for, and that has eluded all but our visionary master.

Isn't he going to "drain the swamp"? Christie and Giuliani are the swamp

1 ( +3 / -2 )

A lifeline for Christie considering he has gone from 68% approval down to 20% in NJ in the last three years. Trump may recue a drowning pal.

Giuliani has been out of office for fifteen years. His post political career was all about the finding the profitable side of the 9/11 terror attacks. Listed as a front runner for Attorney General or CIA director. Trump owes him big time for his claims that former (and maybe current) FBI agents contacted him about Clinton's email, which besides being illegal forced Comey to act shifty to smooth things over.

"The Republican president-elect paid little attention to transition planning leading up to his stunning victory."

Yeah, well, he was too busy fighting the Democrat machine, the Republican "leadership", the media, the president of the United States and his wife, etc. in order to ensure Clinton's defeat. First things first.

Oh my...

“a point of maximum vulnerability” for the nation

put mildly

We shall see who his final selections are. Should be interesting.

@serrano, why not an indictment of Giuliani and Comey for frigging with a national election? Not as important as lamely rehashing some manufactured email scandal, I take it.

It's all good, now the left can get a taste of what we were fearing for the last 8 years, that helpless feeling.

"that helpless feeling"

No offense, but it could have been something going on in your own head. Recently, President Duterte heard a voice telling him his plane will crash if he doesn't stop swearing. So instead of feeling helpless, he took control of the situation, promised to stop swearing, and actually quit for three days. Is voting for Trump kind of like that?

@Torafusu Why not an indictment of Comey for not doing his job and recommending indictments of Hillary for her law breaking which put national security at risk?

I heard Hillary is coming out with a new book soon: "How to Rig the Election and Still Lose."

Trump actually got MORE of the hispanic vote than Romney, and also a majority of the white college educated vote.

Trump fared a little better among blacks and Hispanics than Romney did 4 years ago, but Romney won more of the white college-educated vote than Trump (white college-educated voters usually vote Republican in the first place - Romney won them by 12 points, Trump won them by just 4 points).

Also, Trump actually got less total votes than Romney or even McCain.

An interesting tidbit - recent US Presidential popular votes:

Republicans:

2008: McCain - 59.9 million

2012: Romney - 60.9 million

2016: Trump - 59.4 million

Democrats:

2008: Obama - 69.4 million

2012: Obama - 65.9 million

2016: Clinton - 59.6 million

Trump got less total votes than Romney or McCain or even Hillary - yet out of the 4 of them, he's the President

It will be put up or shut up time now that the Republicans won both the White House and Congress. However, we saw that numbers of prominent Republicans took pains to distance themselves from Donald Trump during the campaign. It'll be interesting to see how they reconcile themselves to his victory and whether they will cooperate to make his administration a success. I don't assume they will, but, if they do, as experienced politicians they'll come out with extraordinary weaselese. Pop the corn, sit back and enjoy the show.

America got fooled by dumb and dumber and dumbest!!

Drain the swamp. Trump will not select sycophants, donors, or far-left ideologues.

The most important selection will be on immigration. Get the wall built. Start deporting the illegals, the violent criminals that Obama let loose in our neighborhoods. Impose penalties on employers who hire illegal aliens. Dismantle the sanctuary cities which are harboring dangerous criminals.

America is an attractive hazard for illegal aliens. Dismantle the sanctuary cities which are harboring dangerous criminals. These criminals come to the US and get free everything. Effeminate Obama wanted to buy lunch for the aliens who broke into peoples' houses. Stop doing that and they'll stop coming. Then we won't have to go door to door. That will be a lot better than another trail of tears. That'll take up Trump's first term.

Does anybody believe that leading a bunch of gang members to the border is lacking compassion?
