There would've been a baying mob out to greet him. Pitch forks, flaming torches and all.

That's why he's not coming, and it's why the State visit will never happen as his lackies told the UK government that he won't come unless he's guaranteed a friendly reception. I thought he'd be pleased by the huge number of people guaranteed to greet him. I thought he liked a big turn out and at least he wouldn't have to lie about the numbers.

Trump is undoing the damage the Democrats and Obama did to the US and US interests.

Trump is undoing the repairs Obama made to the US reputation and US interests after Bush destroyed them.

It's amazing how short Republican memories are.

It has shown who the real racists are by the riots, etc.

Yeah, Charleston showed us exactly who the racists are, and which public officials are willing to defend them.

Trump is undoing the damage the Democrats and Obama did to the US and US interests. Race relations was set back several decades by Obama. It has shown who the real racists are by the riots, etc.

Twice in the last five presidential elections in the US, the electoral college over-ruled the will of the people, actually more shocking is that only one of the last three Republican wins was with the popular support of the American people. Pillar of modern democracy, LMFAO

Being nice and polite is not allways a good thing.

Being a lying, ignorant, tactless, classless a-hole is never a good thing.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Good on Trump! That made my day!

Why would a tweet that contained ZERO truth or any correct statements make your day?

BTW, are you actually American?

(Most Americans would have written "Good for Trump", not "Good on Trump".)

3 ( +3 / -0 )

For myself, I wish he would also cancel his presidency. The people did not vote for him, the electoral college chose him. Twice in the last five presidential elections in the US, the electoral college over-ruled the will of the people. In the case of Gore v. Bush#2, Gore's majority was less than a million. In the case of Hillary v. Trump, her majority was about 3 million.

As I said, the American people did not choose Trump, they chose Hillary. It was the electoral college that installed the loser of the vote as president.

Thank God, Trump didn’t go there and waste his time. Kudos to him. Actually thank god he didnt waste the UK time and money providing security for his visit. Maybe Obama should go there and open the Embassy on behalf of America, at least hed be welcome and actually have a decent crowd there to greet him . LOL

*Being nice and polite is not allways a good thing.  **so well just call non-Caucasians countries that arent as prosperous as America.... SH""HOLES*

People clinging to their guns and religions is not being racist?

White guys opening up a burger stand is not racist?

We are a nation of cowards?

Calling Black conservatives “sell outs, Uncle Tom or racist” is not racist?

Conservates are racist?

So none of these statements that liberals make on a daily basis is racist, right?

What a pity, the British people know how to demonstrate.

It would have been the ultimate slap in the face for the man.

Would have made the Bush protests look feeble. Like Trump's inauguration "crowds".

More like a blessing for the man. Thank God, Trump didn’t go there and waste his time. Kudos to him.

Hey Trump, ignore the sulky naysayers. those naysayers that continue to prove much of what Trump states are lies , misinformation, racism or he just doesn't know what hes talking about. If you want to continue to love a man whose who has shown hell do almost anything to keep this so called love and admiration from his brainwashed followers, then I truly do pity you.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Mr. Trump does have his own options and he is great enough to say it matter of fact. And the hell with all the little nobodies.

Clearly Mr. Trump will do and say as no one can't.

Business is business that's Mr. Trump mentality plus he is uniquely free and a US sitting president willing to face any challenger any time. Being nice and polite is not allways a good thing.

I think they would understand

They’re delighted, actually.

(The) reason I canceled my trip to London is that I am not a big fan of the Obama Administration havin

Story again here should be why does Trump feel the need to lie about practically everything?

4 ( +4 / -0 )

What a pity, the British people know how to demonstrate.

It would have been the ultimate slap in the face for the man.

Would have made the Bush protests look feeble. Like Trump's inauguration "crowds".

4 ( +4 / -0 )

They'll live.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

A slap in the face for all the hard working Americans at the embassy. Just more of Trump fake news.

I think they would understand.

That’s not good.

Not good for whom?

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

What’s good about it?

What's not good about it?

Well let’s start with the fact he told a lie as an excuse for not going.

That’s not good.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Shame on him for rejecting the ambassador and all the hard working American staff at the embassy. How do they feel when their president won't even open their new building and thank them for their efforts.

What and listen to the Brits vilify him? What on Earth for? Waste of time for him.

-7 ( +0 / -7 )

What’s good about it?

What's not good about it? Who cares if he goes or not. Life will go on.

Trump has obviously thrown the dignity of this office into the toilet, but hasn’t yet done anything catastrophic.

Really, I think he took out of the toilet from the last admin. I hope he keeps it up. Go Trump!

-8 ( +0 / -8 )

With every tweet from the twittering orange twat in bed with his cheeseburger his promise to MAGA is taking on a new meaning: Make America Gag Again. The 25th can't come soon enough!

5 ( +5 / -0 )

Good, although most people I know were looking forward to telling him exactly what they think of him.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Please Donnie, be a little bit more creative with your reasoning. You could have just said "I didn't want to take away Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's thunder." or something.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

just a screaming baby

6 ( +6 / -0 )

More countries will learn from wisdom of UK.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Single handedly he has destroyed the status, trust and goodwill that every US President, regardless of party, has preserved since WWII.

In the UK, George W Bush did a lot to demean the office in terms of his ignorance and was generally despised along with Blair for the Iraq disgrace.

Trump has obviously thrown the dignity of this office into the toilet, but hasn’t yet done anything catastrophic.

Let’s just hope he’s not allowed the time to do something tragic. He is more than capable.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

America, you have elected a w anchor and we all have to live with that painful fact...

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Awww, but he wears a St Andrew tie.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

I remember that Regan and George Dubbya used to be lampooned by British satirists, exaggerating their idiosyncrasies and making them out to be idiots - Trump's doing that on his own... the man is a walking, talking, living joke.

Good thing about him not opening the embassy is that he won't be coming to Scotland - we dislike him even more than London does :)

Burning BushToday  06:26 pm JST

Hey Trump, ignore the sulky naysayers.

He can't. Otherwise he'd be making that trip to the UK.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

The only way to make America Great Again is to get rid of this idiot in the White House. Single handedly he has destroyed the status, trust and goodwill that every US President, regardless of party, has preserved since WWII. What a "genius".

6 ( +6 / -0 )

Can’t bus a crowd of cheerleaders into London for love or money, apparently.

Note to others countries who don’t want him visiting... just say Obama... That ought to do the trick.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Sure, we believe ya.

Anything to pacify a man-child before he throws another tantrum.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

That term, 'stable genius', makes me wonder if he'd be welcome in Princess Anne's stables. I'm sure her prize jumping horses would have something to say about that.

5 ( +5 / -0 )

He's completely incapable of thinking of things in any way other than a big shot real estate developer/TV businessman.

"It's a bad deal"

"Best located"

"Peanuts" and "1.2 Billion dollars"

Unfortunately, as President, he's got to think as to what's best for the country- for example, operational security and strengthening relationships with one of America's staunchest allies. But I guess that's just too much to ask from this "stable genius".

6 ( +6 / -0 )

He should go visit Putin. They will cheer him in Russia.

8 ( +8 / -0 )

We won the election for you and we still love ya.

Yeah! Because he's opposed to FISA! Or he vehemently supports a renewal of FISA! During the same morning! (Kinda depends on what they say on Fox and Friends and how his handlers yank him back.) Seriously, my dog is more dependable.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Mr. Trump, please resign.

7 ( +7 / -0 )

Well, this will free up movement around that corner of Grosvenor Square which was more and more off-limits to British citizens. The new location is said to be much better for a number of reasons.  Perhaps Trump will drop by on his next trip to the UK.

0 ( +2 / -2 )

We won the election for you and we still love ya.

Tribalism. Nothing else.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

Good on Trump! That made my day!

What’s good about it?

You won't get a straight answer. Believe me.

12 ( +12 / -0 )

Can hear the collective sigh of relief in London from here.

13 ( +13 / -0 )

Hey Trump, ignore the sulky naysayers.

We won the election for you and we still love ya.

Keep America Great 2020!

Yeehaw! Were you driving around in your pickup, flying an American flag and waving an M16 in the air?

15 ( +15 / -0 )

Let's be honest--the petulant president is angry that a visit would not be a state visit and that he wouldn't get to ride in a horse-drawn coach with the Queen and stay at Buckingham Palace. I sure hope that the Obamas are invited to the May nuptials--that should result in a putrid mango head explosion! So sad that dotard seeks the acceptance of the royal family, but he is too narcissistic to participate in polite society.

14 ( +14 / -0 )

As a Brit it happy he is not coming, keep the cretin ur side of the pond pls. I'm sad for my American cousins who are lumped with this buffoon, may 3 year past quickly and safely!

10 ( +10 / -0 )

Trump doesn't view an opportunity like this as a diplomatic gesture to one of our strongest allies. Instead, he sees it only as an opportunity to be involved in pomp and circumstances so he can pretend to be the king that he'll never be. He's such an embarrassment to our country.

14 ( +14 / -0 )

Good on Trump! That made my day!

Seems we just have to whisper "Obama bad" to give some people a stiffy.

17 ( +17 / -0 )

There is more to this than meets the eye. But, regardless, a good thing, regardless of your political leanings.

6 ( +6 / -0 )

He is hated, will cause massive riots and English people have to pay 100million dollars a day for him and his boss, son-in law.

10 ( +10 / -0 )

Good on Trump!

What’s good about it?

16 ( +16 / -0 )

@cucashopboy

As a Brit, this news made my day!

Same here... you really can't make this up... the man is a genuine parody of himself.

19 ( +19 / -0 )

Trump didn't get to build a hotel on the property the US sold.

13 ( +13 / -0 )

Good on Trump! That made my day!

-31 ( +1 / -32 )

It's not as some have suggested that Trump is a coward for not fulfilling his presidential duties - and a proud duty that is, the opening of the grandest embassy in the capital of US's closest ally - no it's not cowardice.

It's because of his bone spurs. They're playing up again.

16 ( +16 / -0 )

Almost every single word of that tweet was untrue. That must be a record even for him.

17 ( +18 / -1 )

As a Brit, this news made my day!

21 ( +22 / -1 )

He's like a little child. This is really bad, embarrassing, cringeworthy, grotesque. He really does have problems....

18 ( +19 / -1 )

At least try to come up with a more believable excuse.

I’ve got no plane. The existence of Air Force One is a hoax orchestrated by the Chinese?

What a spineless, dishonest man.

20 ( +21 / -1 )

He should blame Bush Jr. not Obama!

17 ( +18 / -1 )

I'm sure it's not at all because he's hated there. Not at all.

What a dotard.

23 ( +24 / -1 )

So, Trump yet again blames Obama for something that was done before Obama became president and uses that fictional Obama mistake as an excuse to not do something.

Remember when the president knew what he was talking about?

25 ( +26 / -1 )

Well, aside from the facts that all he said was incorrect (lies, assuming he retains facilities to discern veracity) and that his visit would result in massive protests - kudos to the US president!

18 ( +18 / -0 )

More alternatives facts, aka lies, from the US Drear Leader.

Not exactly the gift that keeps giving, he's more like the sewage pipe that keeps spewing filth into the oceans.
